Chapter 289 - Every Woman's Dream

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
Emerson had already had breakfast. Plus, he was still full from having both dinner and Avaleigh's salad last night, so he couldn't fit anything else in his stomach, but he still found himself wandering into the loading dock to make sure Avaleigh ate.

As he scanned his eyes across the loading dock, he spotted the girls of Macaron seated around a fold-out table, each with a box in their hands, chatting and eating happily.

Sue approached Emerson and smiled at him, "Thank you for arranging breakfast. The girls and the crew really needed it. As their manager, I do feel bad for them sometimes, but I have no choice but to follow the rules. I noticed that you specifically arranged different meals for the girls compared to the rest of the crew. You are very thoughtful. Even the late Mr. Qian never did anything like this."

Emerson glanced towards the girls indifferently, "I understand that your agency has a lot of things to consider. But, these girls are humans, not just a money-making product. How much longer are they bound by their contracts?"

"Another two years," Sue replied.

"After their contract is over, I suggest you help them find a new agency," Emerson said coldly as he watched the girls shovel the food into their mouths like they hadn't eaten for a long time.

His heart ached a little.

Over at the table, Chu leaned in nosily and smiled at Avaleigh, "So? What did he say? Is he taken?"

Avaleigh scooped a mouthful of the food in front of her. Inside her box was a macaroni soup with pieces of shredded chicken b.r.e.a.s.t and accompanying it was a side of scrambled eggs with spinach and a Hong Kong style milk tea with no sugar. She had not had a breakfast like this ever since she left Hong Kong a decade ago to pursue her career.

Trying to remain indifferent, she gently shook her head and replied, "No, he's single."

The girls immediately squealed and started discussing this discovery, "Why do you think he's single? Is there something wrong with him?"

Avaleigh did not join in the conversation. Instead, she looked down and thought about what Emerson told her earlier. He had never had a girlfriend before and he had been in love with the same woman for over a decade. She originally thought he was a player like Danson, but the more she got to know him, the more she realized he was completely opposite. The thought of Emerson made her feel a little nervous and her mouth feel dry. So, she picked up her milk tea, lifted her head, and took a sip.

As she did so, she suddenly noticed a pair of eyes looking at her and her heart began to race like crazy. It raced so fast, she felt a little dizzy and her body heated up like she was sitting in a sauna.

Why was Emerson looking at her? How long had he been looking at her?

Avaleigh choked on her drink a little and quickly put it down. That was right, the drink was hot, she was probably hot because of the milk tea in her hands. She quickly cleared her throat, looked away from the man and took a deep breath.

She then turned her focus back to the conversation on the table.

"Could he be gay?"

"Or maybe he's a real jerk."

Avaleigh felt a little annoyed by these comments. This man was so thoughtful that he ordered her dinner last night and woke up early to arrange breakfast for them, how could they gossip about him like this?

But, just as she was about to stop them, Mimi suddenly jumped in before her, "You girls have no idea who he really is." It seemed, she was getting just as annoyed by the girls' comments as Avaleigh and felt it was time to stick up for him

Chu turned to Mimi, "You sound like you know a lot."

Mimi smirked proudly, "Emerson Wu, son of casino tycoon, Jack Wu; CEO of Golden Dreams Casino in Macau; one of the most eligible bachelors in Hong Kong; and my future husband. If you do a simple search online, you would find thousands of articles about him."

Avaleigh's eyes opened wide in surprise as she heard this and immediately pulled out her phone. Since he wasn't a celebrity, she didn't expect there to be any information about him online. But, as soon as she typed in his name, and clicked on the news section - 162,000 results popped up!

Some of the headlines were really cheesy and only focused on the man's good looks, but there were a few particular articles that caught Avaleigh's eyes:

As she was scrolling through the articles, a voice suddenly asked behind her, "Do I have more news results than you?"

Avaleigh's heart almost jumped out of her chest when she heard the man's voice. She lifted her head and saw the other girls staring behind her with their mouths open in surprise.

"President Wu, we didn't know you were so impressive," Chu said in an impressed manner. "Can we visit your casino someday?"

Emerson's lips curved upwards slightly as he subtly placed his hands on the back of Avaleigh's chair, "You're always welcome."

Even though the man's hands weren't directly on her skin, Avaleigh could feel his warmth and it sent tingles down her spine.

At that moment, Sue approached as well to remind the girls that they had to get back to their rehearsal, "Have you all finished your food? We need to get back to our rehearsal."

A little fl.u.s.tered, Avaleigh immediately stood up and said, "Yes!"

Without realizing, the chair behind her moved back a little and knocked against the man standing behind her. She quickly turned around, grabbed his arms and checked him from head to toe, "Sorry, President Wu, did I hurt you?"

Emerson grabbed Avaleigh's arms to calm her down and chuckled, "I'm fine."

Avaleigh paused when she realized what she was doing and quickly pulled her arms away. She was normally a calm person, why was she so clumsy today?

Emerson glanced down at the woman and then looked at the other girls in the group, "You girls go back to your rehearsal. I have to go to the casino now. I hope you enjoyed your breakfast."

The girls nodded thankfully and quickly started leaving.

Avaleigh looked at the floor, suddenly too nervous to look the man in his eyes. With a smile, she said, "Thank you for breakfast, it was really delicious."

She then began to turn around. But, Emerson suddenly leaned forward and whispered beside her ear, "Good luck with your concert tonight."
