Oliver looked lovingly at the woman opposite him. He wanted to tell her the good news - that his father approved of them and his mother could no longer stand in their way - but Trisha's phone suddenly rang and she immediately rushed out to the balcony to answer it.
While he watched her pace back and forth on the balcony, he could tell she was discussing something serious, so he also took this opportunity to make a phone call.
"Did you find her?" an excited voice asked on the other end as soon as his call connected.
Oliver glanced at Trisha and smiled, "Yes, thanks for helping me find her. I'm at her place right now. Can you do me one more favor, though?"
The voice on the other end chuckled enthusiastically, "What can I do?"
"Can you get someone to deliver my luggage?" Oliver smirked.
"Woah! You're quick! I thought you were staying with me. Did you already convince her to let you move in?" the voice on the other end asked in an impressed tone.
"Not yet..." Oliver replied. "But, I'm not taking no for an answer..."
The voice on the other end burst into laughter. "I love stuff like this. If you were a celebrity, this would be a huge scandal!"
Oliver shook his head helplessly. The voice on the other end was a friend that he had met during university. He was an international student from Hong Kong that had a passion for journalism just like him. However, this friend was passionate about a different type of journalism. He loved following celebrities and uncovering deep, dark secrets in the entertainment industry.
In other words, he was a member of the paparazzi.
"I'll get your luggage there right away!" the man said before he hung up.
Oliver smiled and stood up; his foot wasn't actually injured. He then glanced around the apartment and started walking somewhere.
Meanwhile, Trisha was on the balcony discussing something serious. Halia had called with some new information. She was staying at Joel Gabriel Santos' resort at that very moment and she had a feeling he was at the resort as well. She also mentioned something about an extra level in the bas.e.m.e.nt.
Trisha didn't want to disturb her idol's honeymoon, especially when she knew he had already retired from Interpol. But, they didn't have solid evidence to open an official case yet - for all she knew, this was all just Halia's hunch - so she had no choice but to ask Halia to follow up on her suspicions.
"I trust your information, Halia, but I need solid evidence to convince my superiors. If you can find proof that the secret bas.e.m.e.nt exists, or at least get a photo of Joel Gabriel Santos with someone suspicious, I'll speak to the big boss and we can launch an official investigation. I'll continue to investigate Trojan on my end and see what I can find," Trisha replied.
Halia nodded her head in understanding, "I understand. I'll see what I can find."
Trisha hung up the phone after she was done speaking to Halia and returned to the apartment.
But, when she stepped back into the living room, the man that was originally on the sofa was gone. She glanced at the kitchen and there was no one there either. Where did he go?
"Oliver?" she called out as she wandered towards the bathroom. Perhaps, nature called and he was using the toilet?
But, the bathroom door was wide open and there was no one inside. Had he suddenly decided to leave?
With a shrug, Trisha removed her coat, lay down on her bed, and closed her eyes. It had been a long day at work and she was exhausted. However, a voice suddenly whispered beside her ear, "Don't you shower before going to bed?"
Trisha's eyes immediately flew open and she looked next to her in surprise. Oliver was tucked under the blankets of her bed and his lips were right beside her ear. She immediately kicked him out of bed with a scream, "What are you doing here?!"
Oliver rolled on the ground in pain, "Sleeping, of course."
"I thought I already told you to leave," Trisha frowned.
"But, I already told you, I have nowhere to go," Oliver replied before he climbed back on the bed.
Trisha furrowed her brows, "Why are you here in Hong Kong, Oliver? Are you really working here from now on?"
Oliver smiled at the woman and replied simply, "I'm here because of you."
Trisha felt her heart almost explode when she heard this. Why did he have to tempt her like this?
She had lost her parents and could no longer be filial towards them, but Oliver's parents were still alive. She had come to the difficult decision of leaving him because she couldn't bear to tear him away from his parents. It was something she felt strongly about. Why couldn't he understand this?
But, just as she was about to question him, Oliver suddenly received a Skype call on his phone.
"Oh, perfect timing," he smiled as he shuffled up to Trisha and picked up the call.
Trisha looked at the man in surprise as he pointed his phone towards both of them.
"Hi, Mom," Oliver grinned as the call connected.
Trisha eyes opened wide in shock. Mom? Was he trying to give his mother a heart attack? If she was to see that he was here in Hong Kong with her, she would be furious!
Trisha quickly tried to roll away, but Oliver grabbed onto her shoulder and held her in place. Trisha glanced at the phone awkwardly and saw a familiar face glaring at her. Margaret Williams had a frown on her face as she asked, "Have you settled in well over there?"
Oliver smiled and nodded his head, "I'm staying at Trisha's place. It's nice, modern, and close to work."
Trisha almost choked when she heard this. Was he deliberately trying to anger his mother?
But, to her surprise, Margaret looked into Trisha's eyes and said, "Thanks for giving my son a place to stay. Since he is in a foreign place, I hope you can take good care of him, don't let him get into trouble."
Trisha stared at the woman blankly and nodded her head. What was happening? Didn't she disapprove of them?
Just as she glanced at Oliver questioningly, the doorbell rang. Trisha snapped out of her daze and started to get up. "I'll go get the door," she said awkwardly. But, Oliver grabbed onto her hand and waved goodbye to his mother, "I'll come with you. I think it's for me."
"For you?" Trisha asked with confusion.
This was her home. Why would someone be at the door for him?
