Chapter 325 - Godbrother

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
"Hey, hey, hey, brother, put the guns down and let's talk," Jackson said as he raised his arms.

Joel Gabriel Santos smirked and gestured for his men to put the guns down as he entered the room and closed the door.

"I'll give you one chance to provide a proper explanation. If I'm not satisfied, then I'll put a bullet through your head and drag your pretty wife downstairs to work for me. I'm sure our clients will like her," Joel Gabriel Santos laughed.

His laugh echoed through Halia's ears. It was a laugh that Trojan was extremely familiar with, so it gave her a mix of emotions.

Halia furrowed her brows and tried to think. She didn't personally know Joel Gabriel Santos, but Trojan knew him well. If anyone was to help them out of this situation, Trojan was their only hope.

At that moment, one of Trojan's memories popped up in her head. "It's in here, brother," Joel Gabriel Santos said as he led Trojan into one of the rooms in the bas.e.m.e.nt. He then gestured for his men to wait outside, shut the door, and closed the curtains. Trojan looked around with curiosity. "Where?" he asked.

Joel Gabriel Santos laughed and pointed to the ceiling.

Trojan looked up with confusion as he saw his own reflection looking back at him. The ceiling was covered by a mirror; a special feature available in a few of the rooms.

"Stop fooling around. Where did you store my money?" Trojan asked.

Halia gasped a little when she heard this. Did Trojan store his money in the bas.e.m.e.nt of this resort? How much money did he store?

Joel walked Trojan over to a painting and removed it from the wall. Behind it, was a pin pad. "My birthday is on the 23rd, your birthday is on the 25th, if you type 2325 into the pin pad, you will be able to see your money," Joel explained.

Trojan furrowed his brows, but walked over and pressed the pin pad as instructed. A moment later, the mirror above their heads suddenly turned see-through, exposing an empty cavity in the ceiling where stacks of money were being stored. Trojan's expression finally relaxed when he saw this money.

"No one will ever know your money is here," Joel guaranteed. "You can check on it whenever you want."

"As for withdrawing the money, come this way..."

Halia snapped back to reality. That was all she needed. She stared calmly at the man in front of her, slowly stepped forward, and said, "Trojan sent us."

Jackson was a little surprised to hear this, but he trusted his wife, so he simply remained quiet and kept watch.

Joel's laugh disappeared as he looked the couple up and down. "He never told me he was sending anyone," he said suspiciously

"Trojan is my godbrother. He said that if anything happened to him, I should come here in secret to check that this place was functioning fine...and that his money was safe..." Halia said without batting an eyelid. "It seems, your security isn't that great..."

As Halia spoke, she pulled out the golden key card she had stolen and flicked it back to the man from the bar. "I'll be sure to report this back to my brother when he wakes up. He's going to be disappointed..."

Joel cleared his throat awkwardly; he was beginning to believe the woman. "How do I know you're who you say you are?"

Halia sat down and crossed her legs, "Your birthday's still on the 23rd, isn't it? Also, I don't think my brother will be the only one that's disappointed in your security; The Organization won't be very happy either..."

Joel immediately turned to his men and growled, "Increase security from now on!"

His men quickly nodded.

"I'm sorry that you had to witness something so embarrassing. Please reassure your godbrother that it will never happen again. Besides, I'm sure you already checked on the money and you know it's fine. That's the most important thing, isn't it?" Joel said.

Halia rolled her eyes, "I guess..."

Joel then pulled out a golden card from his pocket and handed it to Halia, "Here is your own personal card. Next time you come down, ask for me and I'll buy you a drink as an apology. I hope your brother wakes up soon..."

Halia accepted the card and slipped it in her pocket. She then led the men out of her room.

As soon as the door closed, she turned around and held her hand to her heart. It was racing at a million miles per hour.

"You should quit your day job and become an actress," Jackson joked as he walked over to his wife.

Halia wrapped her arms around her husband. That was a close call.

...

Over in Hong Kong, Avaleigh's heart was also racing at a million miles per hour. She had just discovered that her estranged father had been stalking her all the way from Korea and was suspected of killing her group member!

Avaleigh didn't know her father well.

He and her mother had a divorce when she was 10, but she remembered that he loved her very much. However, after they got divorced, the man practically disappeared from her life like he was dead. She didn't understand why her parents divorced and her mother never explained why, she simply said they didn't get along, and Avaleigh never brought it up again. But, deep down, she was a child and she missed her father.

So, every now and then, Avaleigh pulled out old photos of the man and tried to imagine how life would have been if he was still around. Especially when kids teased her at school for not having a father, she thought about him even more.

Who knew, after all these years, he would reappear in her life in this way...

If this was how he was planning to reappear, she would have rather he never appeared at all...

"No, I have no idea where he is. I haven't seen him in over a decade," Avaleigh finally replied to Officer Liang's question.
