157 Honeymoon

When she arrived at the Lian Residence’s living room, only Shen Nian was sitting on the sofa and playing with his Lego. When he saw her return, he did not rush over to welcome her as usual. The atmosphere was a little tense.

Shen Yin changed into her slippers and quietly walked to Shen Nian’s side. She pretended to be cheerful and said, “Nian Nian! Mommy is back. Did you miss me?”

Shen Nian did not even look up. He suddenly threw away the Legos in his hand, pouted, and angrily walked to the dining room to eat.

The food on the table was already cold. Her son had obviously been waiting for her to come back for dinner.

Shen Yin sat beside her son guiltily and apologized in a gentler voice. “It’s all my fault. I should have told you that I would be back late. Are you starving? I’ll buy you some delicious food tomorrow to make up for it, okay?”

“No, I don’t want it!” Shen Nian flung aside the chopsticks in his hand and put his head on the table and wailed loudly. “Mommy has another uncle and doesn’t want me and Daddy anymore! Nian Nian doesn’t want a new uncle, Nian Nian wants Daddy!”

Shen Yin’s heart ached as she hugged her son and hurriedly coaxed him. “I wouldn’t abandon you. You’re my greatest treasure. How could I not want you!”

“Really?” Shen Nian sniffed and looked up at Shen Yin with tears in his eyes.

Shen Yin’s heart skipped a beat and she was filled with regret. She quickly brought a tissue for her son and wiped the tears off his face.

Shen Nian had been more mature than other children since he was young. He knew that she worked hard and took the initiative to do all the housework. She had almost never seen Shen Nian cry. This was the first time she had seen him so sad.

Shen Yin felt extremely guilty. Seeing her son’s pitiful look of anxiety, she hurriedly reassured him, “Really! Nian Nian, I promise to always love you the most.”

However, Shen Nian did not calm down. He still asked uncertainly, “Then will the new uncle dislike me?”

Shen Yin was caught between laughter and tears. She shook her head and hurriedly explained to her son, “Nian Nian, that was just a misunderstanding. There’s no new uncle.”

Shen Nian smiled through his tears. He jumped up from the chair and shouted loudly in the living room, “Mommy didn’t find a new uncle. Mommy still wants Daddy! Nian Nian is so happy!”

Shen Yin subconsciously wanted to refute the last sentence about Lian Jing, but she remembered that if Lian Jing had been next to Nian Nian at that time, he would definitely have waited in the living room for her to come back so that he could interrogate her. He definitely would not have let Shen Nian stay in the living room by himself.

Since Lian Jing was not around and her son was so happy, what was there for her to refute?

Shen Yin smiled and pulled Shen Nian’s hand to sit down. She passed him another pair of chopsticks. “Eat properly this time. Don’t throw things around, understand?”

Shen Nian stuck out his tongue at her and smiled evilly. “Mom, aren’t you going to ask Dad to come and eat dinner?”

Shen Yin was stunned for a moment, and an ominous feeling arose. “Lian Jing is home too?”

Shen Nian said matter-of-factly, “Yes. By the way, Dad also heard what that uncle said.”

Shen Yin smiled awkwardly and picked up her chopsticks. She had no intention of getting up at all. “It’s fine. Let’s eat first. He might not be hungry.”

The man at the corner of the stairs snorted. This heartless woman no longer cared about him!

Lian Jing heaved a long sigh of relief. Other than feeling depressed, he was also secretly happy.

When Shen Nian and Shen Yin were on the phone, he was sitting there and heard the man’s voice clearly. His heart was filled with anger and he only wanted to capture Shen Yin to settle the score. Fortunately, Shen Nian stopped him and even thought of this method to determine the truth.

She said that she had not found another man.

Lian Jing narrowed his eyes slightly. As he listened to the two of them eating and chatting in the dining room, his heart felt like it had been scratched by a cat.

He could no longer put on airs. He turned around and went downstairs, pretending to have just finished his work. He walked into the dining room expressionlessly.

The conversation stopped abruptly when they sensed him. Shen Nian swallowed his last mouthful of soup and quickly put down his chopsticks. He was about to run back to his room when Shen Yin and Lian Jing grabbed his wrists at the same time.

Shen Nian wanted to cry when the two of them each grabbed one of his arms. He said helplessly, “Alright, I won’t leave. Can you let go of me?”

Only then did the two of them release him simultaneously. They sat down awkwardly and lowered their eyes to eat dinner. Neither of them spoke.

Shen Nian looked at his father, who clearly wanted to speak, but was too proud to do so. Then, he looked at his mother, who dying to leave, and sighed.

He really did not know what the two of them were arguing about. From the looks of it, the two of them clearly cared about each other!

Shen Nian thought about it and suddenly had an epiphany.

He had heard that newlyweds had to go on a honeymoon! His parents had not gone through this process yet. Perhaps that was the problem. If the two of them could travel together and improve their relationship, there might be a breakthrough.

Shen Nian smacked the table and announced loudly, “I’ve decided! The three of us are going on a holiday!”
