169 Sneaking Into the Company

While Shen Yin’s life was peaceful, Shen Cheng’s side was in chaos.

Shen Luo cried and knelt in front of Shen Cheng. “Dad, just let me look for Lian Jing. I’ve already found out that he’s the President of the Lian Corporation. He’s too good for Sister!”

Shen Cheng stomped his feet in anger. “Nonsense! He kicked your father yesterday, yet you still want to rush over and be with him! It’s a slap to my face!”

Shen Luo cried pitifully, but her eyes were filled with hatred. “Dad, why can’t you understand? If I make Lian Jing your son-in-law, he’ll give you a lot of money as compensation.”

Shen Cheng thought about it and glanced at his daughter, who was still kneeling on the ground. In the end, his heart softened and he asked Lin He to help her up. “You said that the man who was with Shen Yin last night was the President of the Lian Corporation? How rich is he?”

Shen Luo saw that his father’s expression had relaxed and knew that he had also thought of something. She lowered her voice and said, “He’s a billionaire.”

Shen Cheng was shocked. He had never heard of such a large sum. His eyes widened as he looked at his beautiful daughter. His mind raced. “How confident are you? From what I saw yesterday, he seemed very close to your sister!”

Shen Luo snorted and smiled sinisterly. “Dad, don’t worry. I’ve already used my contacts. I’ll sneak into the Lian Corporation tomorrow.”

In order to get Lian Jing, Shen Luo had no other choice but to grit her teeth and swallow her disgust. That night, she went to a hotel with that person.

She had no interactions with Lian Jing. But the human resources supervisor arranged for her to work as a receptionist, so she hoped that would put her in a favorable position.

However, in the Lian Corporation, even a receptionist needed to have an undergraduate degree. Shen Luo had not studied hard and had only attended a technical academy. Her qualifications were inadequate. It was obvious that she had pulled strings to obtain the position. On her first day of work, she was ostracized by a few colleagues.

After a busy day of serving tea, she did not have a single chance to get close to Lian Jing.

The President’s office was on the top floor of the entire building. The elevator had to be activated with a key. Without the President’s permission, no one could go up to that floor on their own.

Shen Luo was impatient, but she had no choice. She could only wait an opportune moment. Surely Lian Jing would go downstairs at some point!

She could not go up, so she waited for him to come to the first floor.

Shen Yin had just arrived at the police station when Wu Zheng and the others brought her to a crime scene.

This case, had started out as a murder, but later, it turned out that a drug trafficking ring was involved. The case was finally coming to an end.

The narcotics police were very conscientious. They worked hard overnight to take down the drug trafficking ring’s headquarters. This time, they brought Shen Yin to investigate the crime scene and determine the location where Tan Li was killed, as well as the child, whose whereabouts were unknown.

Wu Zheng brought Shen Yin through an old dilapidated building. The wind tore of a piece of plaster and it fell into a bottomless tunnel.

Wu Zheng raised his chin and gestured. “This is their headquarters. It’s actually hidden underground. Our colleagues worked overtime and finally found it.”

Shen Yin sighed. “Thank you for your hard work. I’ll go down now.”

Wu Zheng looked up at her in surprise. “I thought you female comrades would not be willing to go to a place like that, which looks like a sewer. Zou Sheng even said that he would take a look on your behalf. I was afraid that he wouldn’t be as detailed as you, so I didn’t agree.”

Shen Yin smiled and shook her head. “Female comrades are much stronger and more independent than you male comrades think. Ever since I became a forensic pathologist, I’ve stopped treating myself as a delicate little girl.”

Wu Zheng stubbed out the cigarette butt and said in shame, “Dr Shen, you’re a heroine. We admire you for being undeterred by corpses.”

Shen Yin did not joke with him anymore. She turned on the flashlight with a serious expression and stepped into the wet and smelly tunnel.

Trash was piled on both sides of the tunnel. Occasionally, a few cockroaches would crawl past her. In the darkness, one could vaguely hear the sound of rats.

Shen Yin held a flashlight and carefully navigated the obstacles on the ground, observing the entire tunnel.

The further they went, the cleaner and neater it became until they reached a spacious dark room at the end. There were all kinds of furniture and decorations here. There were also a few cigarette butts and leftover snack packets on the ground.

Shen Yin carefully put the cigarette butt into an evidence bag to check for saliva. After walking around the desk, she put on her gloves and opened the last secret door.

The smell of blood was almost suffocating.
