243 Implicated
The Shen Luo’s cell phone signal kept moving until it stopped at the entrance of a supermarket.
Zou Sheng looked at the flashing signal and shook his head with a bitter smile. He said to Shen Yin, “Looks like Captain’s trip is in vain.”
No one would deliberately go to a supermarket so far from home. Shen Luo’s phone must have been picked up by a passerby.
Sure enough, after a while, Captain Wu brought back the cell phone. He angrily took a sip of water, then took a deep breath. “It was picked up by a young girl. I’ve already questioned her carefully. She said that she was attending a tuition class nearby. After class, she saw a cell phone by the roadside and took it. She didn’t see who took Shen Luo away.”
Meng Heng slammed the table in frustration and said in a deep voice, “The trail is cold again.”
Zou Sheng snapped his fingers, raised his eyebrows, and pointed at the screen proudly. “Not necessarily. Look what I found.”
Meng Heng rushed over. The surveillance cameras clearly recorded Shen Luo leaving the house.
Strangely enough, just as she was about to leave the surveillance area outside her home, a black car that had been parked nearby started moving quietly. The car slowly followed Shen Luo until it finally disappeared from sight.
“Check the license plate number!” Wu Zheng put down the cup and came over with a frown.
Zou Sheng did not need Wu Zheng to say anymore. He had already started investigating and quickly found the owner’s information. “Hu Bin, male, 32 years old. His home is in the Thousand Mountain Garden District in the south of the city.”
This was an unfamiliar face that had not appeared in the case.
Wu Zheng could not figure out what connection he had with Dong Chang. He frowned and patted Zou Sheng’s shoulder. “Find out what he does. I want to know his relationship with Dong Chang.”
“Okay.” Zou Sheng snapped his fingers and started working.
Shen Yin stared at Hu Bin’s photo on the big screen. She could not remember his face, but she still felt that this person looked familiar. She must have seen him somewhere before.
The answer eluded her, but the inexplicable sense of familiarity grew stronger. Shen Yin was engrossed in her thoughts when Meng Heng suddenly patted her shoulder, startling her.
“Sister, what’s wrong? Has today been too xhausting?” Meng Heng had not expected her to react so violently. He had seen that she was in a daze and wanted her to go back and rest.
It was almost time to knock off. They had been working hard all day. It was fine for rough men like them to run around, but Dr. Shen was so thin. She certainly would not be able to take it.
“No.” Seeing that the others were looking at her, Shen Yin hurriedly shook her head and denied it. She had already participated in the entire case and did not want to be absent at the most critical moment.
Wu Zheng had just thought of this and was instantly annoyed at his negligence. He comforted her softly, “If you’re tired, go back to the office and rest first. We’ll call you if we find anything new later.”
“I’m not tired.” Shen Yin sighed. She knew that they were just concerned about her, so she decided to tell them what she was thinking. “I was distracted because I felt that this Hu Bin looked especially familiar. I was trying to think of where I had seen him before.”
“Really? Then Sister, think about it carefully!” Meng Heng looked at Shen Yin excitedly, feeling that what she said would become the key to solving the case.
Zou Sheng was still typing on the keyboard. Finally, he found all the information about this person’s identity. He snapped his fingers proudly. “Found it!”
Shen Yin spoke almost at the same time as him. “I got it!”
“What is it?” Meng Heng glanced at the information on the screen and asked curiously.
Shen Yin inwardly berated herself for her poor observation skills. Otherwise, how could she not remember who this person was after seeing him twice!
She let out a long sigh of relief, her heart thumping involuntarily. “He’s one of Lian Jing’s bodyguards. Although I haven’t spoken to him, I’m sure it’s him!”
“Sister Shen is right.” Zou Sheng pointed at the employee information on the screen and said, “Hu Bin joined the largest bodyguard company in the city six years ago. His was last transferred to Lian Corporation.”
“How could this be?” Meng Heng frowned. No one expected Lian Jing to be involved at such a critical moment!
“I’ll call him and ask.” Shen Yin took out her phone and dialed his number nervously.
She secretly prayed in her heart that Lian Jing had nothing to do with this matter. It was just a coincidence that his employee had turned up. Or perhaps it was Hu Bin’s own plan. Otherwise, based on this alone, the director might suspend Shen Yin to avoid suspicion.
If the Lian Corporation was implicated in such a vicious case, the entire Lian family would be affected. Lian Jing would be the first to bear the brunt and would definitely be framed by someone with ulterior motives.
In the blink of an eye, Shen Yin had already imagined the worst and was prepared for it.
