Rofas-san lifted his face, and stared at Bryce-kun’s plate while making a slight growl.
……
His face showed that he really wanted more.
I’ve never seen the face of someone holding back on something they desperately wanted to eat until now…
Even the children were better. If they ask for one of something, they’re satisfied with one…
「Rofas-san, would you like some chicken soup? It tastes good if you pour it over the yaki-onigiri.」
Turning this sorta-Chinese dish into a soup dish is quite nice too. Wait, I guess that makes it Chinese-style ochazuke (*1)?
No, yaki-onigiri is not Chinese. Well, whatever.
Rofas-san put several yaki-onigiri into the deep dish, and stood in front of the stove properly.
「Yuuri, can I get seconds?」
Ah.
Mm. I did say to line up properly if any of them wanted seconds.
Okay.
I said that, yes.
……
「Pft.」
I laughed without thinking.
「What’s the matter, Yuuri-san?」
「No, nothing.」
Rofas-san was acting like a kindergartener. This adult man was… even though he was a money-earning elite person in his line of work.
To think he’d listen to what I said so seriously…
The gap between his actions and appearance was too much…
Or rather, could it be that Rofas-san needs to eat several more times than a regular person in order to maintain his muscles? Was that why he had to be more serious than others when it comes to eating?
But he left the children living in this hut a vending machine that dispenses bread and potatoes. I can’t imagine someone so serious about eating leaving behind foodstuff like that for others.
…Was it because there’s no fridge here, so the options for long-lasting foodstuff was limited?
But things like dried meat existed right? In the form of what they called mobile food?
Ahh, I want a fridge! Fridge!
Old-style fridges used ice at first, right? You had to buy ice from an ice shop.
……
I thought about the ice magic that Bryce-kun showed me.
Okay, I’ve made my decision!
They’re my dreams too, but I have to make them my goals and achieve them!
First, I have to get to level 10, then learn how to use ice magic! Then, I’ll make my own fridge!
Ah! If I can make ice, then couldn’t I sprinkle salt on top of them to make ice cream?
Ehehe?
I had a big smile on my face as I imagined Kurtz-kun’s and Kirika-chan’s reaction when they try ice cream for the first time.
I want to let them try it.
Let’s work hard, hehe.
Once I get to level 10, I wonder if I’ll have a decent amount of money saved up. If so, I can buy sugar even if it’s a bit expensive, as well as cream and eggs. It’d be nice if I can buy vanilla too.
Grin.
「Kirika’s yaki-onigiri tastes good by itself, but it’s more delicious once I pour the chicken soup Kurtz helped make over it.」
Kirika-chan and Kurtz-kun smiled when they heard Rofas-san’s praise.
「We could only make the soup because Rofas-san got us such fresh bird meat.」
I drank some of the chicken soup.
Mhm. Without the birds, we would’ve never achieved this flavor.
「R-really? Yes, that’s right! Okay, once we’re done eating, I’ll go get some more!」
「Eh?」
No, wait a second. Didn’t Rofas-san bring back a wild boar for us when he came home earlier?
What am I supposed to do with all this meat, when we don’t even have a fridge to store them in!
Even if we dried all of it, there’s not enough space to store them all either!
「No, um, starting tomorrow, only the three of us will be left here, so you can do it the next time you drop by…」
He said he would us visit once a month, so that should be okay.
「Really? You don’t have to hold back.」
No, I will. Please let me hold back.
Once only me, Kurtz-kun, and Kirika-chan are left here, it’ll be difficult for us to handle everything. Does Rofas-san remember that Bryce-kun is going to leave with him tomorrow morning?
I ate a piece of bird meat.
It doesn’t stink, probably because the blood was drained properly. I don’t know how they dealt with the innards either…
「The bird meat came out so well because Bryce-kun did such a good job cleaning it.」
I wanted to thank Bryce-kun, so I looked over at him, and saw that his cheeks were flushed.

Author’s Notes:
A heartwarming side dish~
This is my second upload today. *The first upload was for the husband’s story, so there’s no problem if you skip it*
Now, Yuuri is motivated.
Get to level 10! I want a fridge!
That’s right. For the sake of having a bath! Or rice! Or rather, Yuuri wants the things she is used to having in Japan in this other world. Right now, the first thing she wants is a fridge.
(*1): お茶漬け (ochazuke): A soup-rice dish where you pour either green tea, dashi broth, or hot water over a bowl of cooked rice. It’s a very simple dish, especially if you use instant packs.
