Chapter 248: His Rage

“…It’s not that person I’m thinking of, right? I’m getting the wrong idea, right?”

She wished desperately for him to say that she was wrong, but Igor simply kept looking at her with darkness in his eyes. While staring into his eyes with shaking pupils, Rihannan suddenly remembered the letters that were the start of her being framed for the guilt of helping out the enemy country.

The mailbox that was filled with letters that she saw for the first time. Among them were ones she received from Chrichton nobles, but there was also a letter that looked as if it was written from within the Arundell kingdom. It was also the very reason why the framing of Rihannan helping out the enemy kingdom was so easily proven.

It was a letter that was made with high class dye that was only produced within a specific area inside Arundel. Because of it’s beautiful color and wonderful aroma that goes along with it, the dye was often used among the ladies of the palace. Therefore that letter which was completely filled with numerous national secrets about Arundel that Rihannan had no knowledge of was quickly judged as though the queen had written it. As the words in the letter were written through woodblock letterings, she wouldn’t have been able to even make an excuse that it was not her handwriting either.

However, there was another royal family member that used the same stationery paper as they did. The queen mother. The letters she had sent and received back and forth during this lifetime was also the same kind of stationery as well.

Rihannan’s jaw started to shiver slightly. What if those letters belonged to the queen mother? What if someone had taken the letter that belonged to the queen mother and put it in her mailbox without her knowing?

The only person that was able to open and look inside the content of the mailbox at that time was one other person besides Rihannan herself.

The wife of Count Egail.

The person that the queen mother had put to work under Rihannan after she entered the palace as a queen, the woman who had worked as her maid in that previous life.

Until this point of time, she thought that the Countess must have done that due to being bribed or coerced by someone, but that was incorrect. She was simply carrying out the orders that her original owner had given to her.

“Ngh…!”

As she couldn’t stop herself from letting out a cry of anguish, Rihannan covered her mouth with her hands.

“Rihannan!” Igor stood up from his seat right away. He hurriedly went around the table and grabbed her shoulders as he spoke, “You should stop today and continue the talk next ti—”

“No, I have to confirm this right now.” She swatted away his hand and cried out in tears. “Tell me right now! Who that person is! The person who had driven me to my death!”

Igor’s face became horribly contorted. As Rihannan saw that he still didn’t give her an answer, she was about to yell out in anger again before his lips parted and his voice came out.

“The Queen Mother.”

As he looked upon her pale face that looked as if it would fall apart immediately, he couldn’t handle looking at it anymore and closed his eyes.

“The person who had framed and driven you to the point of sending you to jail was my mother, the Queen Mother.”

Flashback.

“Why did you do it?!” After handling Rihannan’s body, he immediately went to his mother. He snapped angrily at her. “It hadn’t even been that long since she had lost her child in her stomach. Yet you didn’t take any pity on her and threw her in jail! I’m asking why you’ve done that to her!”

After witnessing with her own eyes of her husband being unfaithful, she had even lost her child afterwards in an accident. That was painful and shocking enough, an everlasting wound on her life, yet the queen mother had sent that woman who didn’t even recover completely from losing her child to jail. He simply couldn’t believe that it was none other than his own mother that had carried out all of that proceedings.

“I’m asking you, why have you done it!”

Igor grabbed onto his mother’s shoulders and shook it. He was barely stopping himself from following his impulse and strangling her immediately.
