Chapter 266: Grief Stricken Cries
Father became extremely furious from what she said, but in the end was kicked out of the home. There was no worse nightmare than this that she could have imagined. Her father, who looked as great and powerful as god himself to Leticia, couldn’t even make a proper protest to that young girl before being kicked out of the household.
On top of that, what was even more unbelievable was that all that wealth anda*set was not her father’s, but all belonged to that young girl. Realizing that she now had to live together with her father that was no different than a broke beggar from today onwards, Leticia’s vision started to darken.
Leticia instinctively knew that once she leaves this house, everything will be over. Her experience in living in the orphanage her whole life had taught her already, that whether it’s clothes or bread, once you lose the chance to get it, it will never come back again. If you do not wish for it to be taken from you, you must steal it first, and for things that others try to take from you, you have to do your best to keep it for as long as you can.
“The only things that you can take from me is that dress that you are wearing on you right now.”
The child spoke with a frigid tone to Leticia, who was begging to be able to stay in this place. The fact that even the very clothes she was wearing wasn’t hers stabbed deep into her chest. Leticia became furious and gritted her teeth.
The future that Leticia imagined in her mind wasn’t like this. No books she read in the orphanage had their story turn like this. The dream scenario that Leticia had thought of went like this, where she after entering the household, she would enjoy much more love and devotion from her father than her older sister, grow up wearing beautiful dresses and accessories, finally going to the grand palace ball where she would meet the king by fate and end up marrying him. However, in reality she was kicked out of the house without even being able to spend a single day there.
After that, the life she had spent with father wasn’t happy at all. The house they bought with his pension was a small and old one. They were always short on money, and when father started to lay his hand on gambling, the debts started to rise exponentially.
The father turned all of his problems towards Leticia. He claimed that if he didn’t go searching for her like that, this wouldn’t have happened. Only then Leticia realized who father truly was. He was a man filled with despicable personality on the inside as opposed to the elegant outer appearance. He didn’t even oppose talking about selling off his own daughter to pay off the debt, even though he said it with his own mouth that he loved her dearly.
However, instead of hating father for his behaviour, Leticia grew to hate Rihannan even more instead. She had everything that Leticia ever wished for. She had ended up this way because of Rihannan’s mother, isn’t that right? On top of that, Leticia wouldn’t be in such a sorry state if Rihannan had shared just a bit of the wealth that she was born into having.
“…And yet, there was a time that I once enjoyed all those wealth and riches myself?”
Rihannan said that Leticia had lived in an elegant lifestyle, as a daughter loved by her father and praised as the fairest lady of the mansion to the very end.
The things that Rihannan had said about her father must have been true as well. Leticia knew that her father was someone that would always shift the blame onto someone else whenever things went bad for him. Therefore it was more than obvious that he would lie about his past to make sure he has the upper hand.
I’m actually very similar to him in that way, thought Leticia.
Leticia couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh.
How brutal this was. If Rihannan had not told Leticia of what happened in the past and just left her to be, Leticia would have simply died while resenting Rihannan to the very last moment. However, as Rihannan had told her of the truth of the past, now Leticia can’t even resent Rihannan for anything anymore. Rihannan said she was here to give Leticia a way for her to die without pain through poison, yet what she had left Leticia with was the feeling of absolute defeat, the fact that no matter how many times her life repeats, she would end up being repeatedly a failure.
Sob…
With a grief-stricken cry, Leticia laid out on the floor. From the night until the very last morning of her life, her tears didn’t stop flowing from her eyes.
