Chapter 271: Terrible Thoughts

Therefore even though he pretended to not hear anything from Rihannan, he still opened his ears up for her. However, once he had actually become her husband, he couldn’t do that anymore. Rihannan no longer spoke with sparkles in her eyes like in the past, and he had decided to no longer hear anything she had to say.

‘If I knew this was how it was going to go, I should have just pretended not to hear her right to the end.’

Igor let out a burst of self-mocking laughter. He shouldn’t even have given her an opportunity to choose in the first place. It would have been better in result for him to continually threaten her and make her leave this place without her child in the end. If that was the case, Rihannan would have stayed behind. She had already realized that her thoughts about her child had changed a lot after all.

If she wished to leave behind her child and leave Chrichton as she insisted in the first place, all he had to do was tie her hands and feet and force her to stay in Chrichton. It wouldn’t matter even if her cousin’s brother protested against him. If he asks to give Rihannan back to him, Igor would just ignore him, and if he uses this as an excuse to invade like last time, Igor would gladly crush him beneath his feet. He had done it before, he can do it again.

As these thoughts ran across his mind, he looked at the man reflected in the glass in front of him in the window. It was a visage of an evil man thinking dastardly things. He then realized it. That he was still someone that was filled with such horrible thoughts and ideas in his mind after all this time.

After letting out a long sigh, Igor pulled out an alcoholic drink and started drinking. To drink this early in the morning alone is something he hadn’t done often, but right now he wished to be consoled this way at least.

As he started to become somewhat tipsy, he sat in his chair and stared blankly in front of him. He then remembered of himself ten days ago. The foolish man who gave Rihannan the choice whether to stay here or leave with the child without much worry in his mind at all.

He honestly thought that she wouldn’t say she would be leaving. Or at least ask him to give her some time to think.

She had understood everything that had happened in the past and was in pain somewhat due to the realization, but it looked like she had recovered from it somewhat already. Therefore he wished to properly correct the relationship they had at that moment. That even though she didn’t have any choice in the beginning, he will allow her to make a decision where she can choose to leave or stay by her own decision. But for some reason, Rihannan had way too easily chosen the option to leave the place.

More than anything, realizing the truth that she had no more feelings for him than she did in the past for him made Igor fall heavily in despair. She said that once this child is born, she will only show the child the best things and let the child hear only the most wonderful things. But that was what he wanted to do more than anyone else.

She said that she may not be able to stop all of the darkness that could reach the child, but Igor was ready to make sure that he will block every single irregularity or threat that may come to the child. Whether the child was a daughter or a son, Igor would make sure to push everything out of the way that could get in the way of the child succeeding to the throne.

However, in the end, Rihannan’s mindset was that her child was completely cut off and separated from Igor’s family. His existence was only that much for Rihannan in the end.

With bitter thoughts running in his mind, he repeatedly emptied the drink into his mouth. As the time went deep into the night, someone disobeyed his order to not bother him for the rest of the day and opened the door.
