Chapter 35

When Chen Hansheng heard that Zhu Chenglong had hit Zhou Xiao, he knew that the situation was not good.

“Where are the two of them now?” asked Chen Hansheng as he changed his clothes.

“Zhou Xiao’s dorm.”

The second- and third-year dorms were just next door. When Chen Hansheng ran over, Zhou Xiao’s dorm was already crowded with many people including the uniformed school security guards.

What was worse was the professors of both Zhuo Xiao and Zhu Chenglong were also there.

‘What a f*cking mess!’

Chen Hansheng could not help but curse in his heart. He finally understood why Zhu Chenglong had asked those questions when they were drinking that night.

He wanted to beat up Zhou Xiao. Firstly, it was to help Chen Hansheng get his revenge. Secondly, it was to embarrass Zhou Xiao so that he did not have the face to continue as the external relations committee deputy officer. However, he did not expect that his actions would bring the school security guards and professors over.

Zhou Xiao’s room was in a mess. The objects in his room were scattered everywhere as he sat on his bed, covering his face. Zhu Chenglong’s face was also swollen as he was being held down by security.

Chen Hansheng heaved a sigh of relief internally when he noticed that no blood had been spilled.

Zhou Xiao saw Chen Hansheng and his eyes started to fill with resentment.

But Chen Hansheng did not take it to heart. Instead, he decided to greet his professor. “Professor Guo.”

Guo Zhongyun was talking to Zhou Xiao’s professor when he saw Chen Hansheng coming over. Professor Guo immediately said, “I was just about to look for you. I don’t want to get involved in the students’ union matters so I’ll just ask you this. Do you know anything about this?”

It was rare for Professor Guo to be so serious.

Chen Hansheng immediately realized that Zhou Xiao had put the blame on him, or at least mentioned his name. It was very likely Zhou Xiao claimed that Zhu Chenglong had acted under Chen Hansheng’s instigation.

However, Chen Hansheng knew that he could not simply state the facts to resolve the situation. He would be able to get away with it if he simply claimed innocence, but then all the blame would fall on Zhu Chenglong.

“Tell me.” Zhou Xiao’s counselor also wanted to know.

Zhu Chenglong was not a coward. He would not let Chen Hansheng take responsibility for what he had done. Just as he was about to claim the blame, Chen Hansheng immediately glared at him before saying, “Yes, I am involved.”

Bang!

Guo Zhongyun slammed the table hard. “Chen Hansheng, you’re the class president and yet you’ve gotten involved in a fight. I need a letter of explanation and apology from you.”

Chen Hansheng nodded silently. “I’ll write it tonight.”

“No, write it now,” said Guo Zhongyun loudly.

Chen Hansheng looked at Guo Zhongyun. He wrote the letter on the spot and handed it over. It turned out that Professor Guo intended to quell this storm as soon as possible.

Zhu Chenglong also wrote his and handed it over.

Zhou Xiao also noticed that no blood had been spilled and he knew that there was a possibility that the matter would be covered up. If he joined in and shared the burden, the actions to be taken on Zhu Chenglong would not be so great.

At this time, the nurse from the school’s infirmary also came over. She checked the wounds on Zhou Xiao and Zhu Chenglong and shook her head. “It’s nothing serious. You don’t even need to take anti-inflammatory drugs.”

‘Damn it, did that bastard Zhou Xiao plan to have the university president over as well?’ thought Chen Hansheng. He immediately figured out what Zhou Xiao was up to – he was deliberately making a mountain out of a molehill.

“Now that you’ve written your letters, apologize to Zhou Xiao. Once the committee has reviewed your letters, we will call you in to hand you your punishment,” said Guo Zhongyun.

Chen Hansheng turned gloomy and Zhu Chenglong felt uneasy. He did not expect the matter to become so big. Fights in high school were usually fiercer than this, but they never had to deal with it so seriously.

Zhu Chenglong was frightened by Guo Zhongyun’s furious expression. He did not realize that his professor was intentionally being all talk but no walk.

When the school security guard saw that the matter was under control, especially since both professors were present, he decided to leave with the nurse.

This was just a small fight. In fact, the security guard did not know why the student Zhou Xiao had called the infirmary and the security office after notifying the professors.

“I’m sorry, Zhou Xiao. It was our mistake today. We are sorry. Please forgive us.”

Chen Hansheng and Zhu Chenglong apologized publicly, but Zhou Xiao remained silent.

“I’m sorry, Zhou Xiao.”

Chen Hansheng apologized loudly again, but Zhou Xiao still did not say anything. Guo Zhongyun and the other professor looked at each other before the former said, “Since Zhou Xiao doesn’t want to forgive you now, let’s not force it. Go back to your rooms and check back in later.”

Eventually, the crowd dispersed and the two professors walked back towards their offices. Along the way, they lit their cigarettes. As they smoked, Zhou Xiao’s professor suddenly said, “I was not expecting that.”

“You noticed too?” asked Guo Zhongyun.

“Wasn’t it obvious? Your class president was obviously taking the blame for someone else.”

Guo Zhongyun sighed. “I had just heard about the students’ union incident this afternoon. Your student is too narrow-minded, and my class president’s too wild.”

Zhou Xiao’s professor nodded. “Zhou Xiao is quite smart, but he is quite narrow-minded. This incident wasn’t that big of a deal but I hope he will learn something from it. Otherwise, he will suffer when he steps into society.”

In Guo Zhongyun’s opinion, students never really considered how they would fare in society. They usually focused more on their achievements rather than their personality. Just as the two professors went their separate ways, Guo Zhongyun suddenly asked the other, “Where are the letters my students wrote?”

“What, are you worried I’ll slip it to upper management behind your back?”

Guo Zhongyun smiled and took the letters. “The president has been very busy these days. Let’s not bother him with such minor incidents.”

Chen Hansheng and Zhou Xiao did not know that their professors have decided to sweep the matter under the rug. Zhou Xiao only regretted not getting more physical so that their injuries were worse and Chen Hansheng would get a proper punishment.

“You go back first,” said Chen Hansheng suddenly to Zhu Chenglong.

Zhu Chenglong wanted to say something but decided not to. Once he was gone, Chen Hansheng remained to help clean up Zhou Xiao’s room.

Zhou Xiao sneered. “You don’t have to pretend to be kind.”

Chen Hansheng couldn’t be bothered with him. It wasn’t until he was almost done that Chen Hansheng turned towards Zhou Xiao before he left and said, “If you weren’t a university student, I wouldn’t have bothered with you even if you died in front of me.”

Zhou Xiao was shocked when he heard that. Chen Hansheng made it very clear that once they had entered society, Chen Hansheng would not hold back if something like this happened again.

When Chen Hansheng was about to get to the door of his room, the boys in his class had all gathered in the corridor. They already knew the reason for the whole incident.

Zhu Chenglong had already realized his mistake as he timidly said, “Hansheng, I didn’t mean to…”

Wham!

Chen Hansheng suddenly kicked Zhu Chenglong hard in the back of the latter’s leg before the former walked back into the room without another word.

The boys helped Zhu Chenglong up. He held in the pain as he simply clenched his teeth and rubbed the spot where he was kicked. He was still debating whether he should go in and apologize again.

The others did not know what to do. In the end, the pretentious Jin Yangming stood up, pushed his glasses up his nose bridge with his middle finger, and analyzed the situation out loud. “I think this is a good thing. Since Hansheng kicked you, it means that he has forgiven you.”

Zhu Chenglong thought that explanation made sense too so he pushed the door open and limped into the dormitory. He looked around and found Chen Hansheng smoking.

“Class President, I’m really sorry. I was reckless after drinking. I even had you to take the blame for me.”

Chen Hansheng turned around and looked at Zhu Chenglong, whose face was full of guilt. The former shook his head and threw a cigarette to him.

“Well, the reason for your actions was not entirely wrong. He shouldn’t continue being the deputy officer of the external relations committee.”
