A few minutes after sinking his teeth into my arm…
“I should be fine now.”
He said, as he lifted his mouth away from me.
His fur looks glossier than before, and he’s standing firmly without trouble. Nonetheless he was ill just minutes ago, so I palpate him to make sure he’s really ok.
“As expected of a legendary monster to recover this much, just from replenishing MP.”
“All thanks to your great MP of course. Also, were you saying you want to be able to control and utilize your magic?”
“Yeah, it’s not like I can train in the town safely after all. This’ll be a great training ground with how little people probably pass by.”
“I don’t mind you training here, but before that you need to have enough power to be able to survive. If not, you’re gonna die quickly.”
Wait, my training starts from there?! It’s not just magic training?!
“Father-in-law! You mustn’t do that! You’re gonna allow such a human into the pack?!”
“What are you saying at this point, it was a condition for us to keep him close to the pack in exchange for helping me.”
“That’s true, but this human is far too suspicious! If that power turns against us, we will…!”
“We should kill him before that time comes!” continued another.
It’s understandable that not all of them are convinced. How should I persuade them…
Then, all of a sudden I felt a spike of bloodthirst released from the old wolf.
“You, did you say you would kill the man who I owe my life to?”
The bloodthirst is crazy, I’m freaking out when it’s not even directed at me!
Hey, why are the other wolves running away! Don’t run, don’t leave me here! I’m seriously scared here!
“Grandfather really is amazing, to be able to release this much killing intent.”
“What in the world is your grandfather…”
“Grandfather is the first fenrir. Apparently he turned into one after continuous training and evolution.”
The original, that explains it.
Of course he’s gonna be strong.
Even the father looks like he might be pissing his pants.
“Sir. How much strength do I need to be able to survive here?”
I can’t see the argument progressing if I don’t interrupt.
“Quite a lot to say the least. And as a human, there’ll be a lot of obstacles to reach our level.”
“So you’re telling me to quit being a human, huh… Well, I guess something like that’s fine.”
“Oh, that’s a rather quick answer. Are you not scared?”
“Between scared and not scared, of course I’m scared, but it’s better than dying helplessly, don’t you think?”
“You say that like it’s natural…”
He says, with a bitter smile.
I’m aware that I’m crazy.
But I want, I need power. I’m a guy after all.
“Very well then. There’s nothing bad about being powerful, it would be good to attain it if you want to.”
It really is easier talking to monsters than people when it comes to this stuff, they don’t interrogate you about every little thing when it comes to why you want to become stronger.
“So will you have spars with me?”
“That’s no good yet, you wouldn’t last even a second. Before that you should build a bigger frame.”
It’s a shame, but it’s also logical. I should just be happy that my future plans have been set.
