Chapter 668: 12.70 Unknown Star – Modern ABO World: Second Case – Witness Xu Meiji

In the middle of the night, at the city hospital.

Student Xu Meiji was confined in a VIP room of the city hospital. The Police Headquarters covered everything and as an important witness to the case, Xu Meiji was protected by Prosecutor Ye Yuyan’s team.

His bed was placed at the center with an oxygen tank on the right and a few machines to observe his heartbeat surrounding the bed. His eyes were still currently closed and his bloodless pale face is still very obvious at this moment despite receiving a few blood bags to replenish his blood. His head was also wrapped with thick white bandages and on his face is a mask connected to the oxygen tank.

He slowly opened his eyes and saw a blurry sight of white. It took a while for him to get back his clear eyesight and noticed the white ceiling and dull light in the room. Student Xu Meiji tried to move only for him to feel intense pain all over his body, especially in his chest part.

Wei Lou who was protecting him secretly had appeared from the dark area of the room.

“You’re awake, kid? You’ve almost died on the operating table but still survive in the end. You have a few fractured ribs so be careful when you move. Plus with a crack on your skull, the doctors thought you wouldn’t wake up tonight,” said Wei Lou.

Student Xu Meiji stared at Wei Lou’s familiar face thinking about where he had seen him then he remembered the scene he was caught that day in the back alleys when he was selling drugs.

With a raspy voice and broken words, Student Xu Meiji replies, “Y-You... That... Back... A-Alley... Police...”

“Correct. I’m Wei Lou. Do you remember what happened to you?” asked Wei Lou.

Student Xu Meiji stares at the ceiling as if he was dazed and remembers the scene of that person whom he chose as his beloved to do that to him. He felt immense sadness and despair. Wei Lou who had been observing him realized that he remembers. He recalled the message he received from Hua Yuhua and learned that it was Student Fu Miyan’s other personality called Fu Tian who had beaten him up.

But he also explained that Student Fu Tian had beaten up Student Xu Meiji to protect him and get him out of the reach of the man behind the illegal drugs which is most likely the mad scientist, Datura.

Wei Lou took a seat on the couch beside the bed and said, “The students who beat you up had been caught.”

Student Xu Meiji was shocked when he heard about that and stared at Wei Lou with bloodshot eyes. Wei Lou was now sure that this boy knew who Fu Tian was. But Hei Yuhua had already told him about the living Split Personality of Student Fu Miyan and was not surprised that this student before him knows him as well.

Wei Lou said, “Those students who beat you up were all under probation in the police station for attempted murder and intentional injuries. You had indeed almost died after all.”

“I’m still... alive so... that murder thing is not... true...” said Student Xu Meiji who pulled off the oxygen mask on his face so he would be able to talk more clearly but even this simple movement caused pain spread all over his body by chose to bear it.

Wei Lou said, “It was because you are alive that’s why it’s called attempted murder. If you had died then it is just a real murder instead. The latter crime is heavier than the former. Either way, don’t worry Fu Tian wasn’t caught but his two minions are. Though it seems that someone had drugged them now they had become drug addicts with problems in the head. They’ve gone stupid literally.”

Student Xu Meiji knew that the police officer beside him was fishing for information and was a bit pissed that he got hooked just now. What he didn’t know is why it seems this man and the people on his side already know about Fu Tian and Fu Miyan.

“You guys... seems to already... know who Fu Tian is...” said Student Xu Meiji said.

Wei Lou said, “Well there’s a little brainiac monster in our team. He only needed clues to solve the case but this little monster on our side had personally met Student Fu Miyan already and theorized his connection with Fu Tian. We are only protecting you because you seem close to Fu Tian so... You might be a witness in name but not really.”

“If you promise to save Mimi. I can tell you where the supplier is hiding and the hidden routes he uses to escape everyone’s eyes in the school,” said Student Xu Meiji.

Wei Lou looked at him with Eagle-like stares and asked, “How sure are you that your information is legit and not false.”

“I am willing to go to jail if what I said is false. I only knew these routes because I was stalking Mimi because I’m worried about him. I even saw that person in a white coat with one dull lavender eye who makes the drugs. If I remember correctly Mimi calls him Datura.” said Student Xu Meiji.

When the name Datura was mentioned, Wei Lou’s face finally turned ugly.

Wei Lou asked, “Kid, are you sure you heard the name Datura?”

“I’m sure. His name is Datura. Mimi no... Fu Tian calls him that,” said Student Xu Meiji and realized that the case of illegal drugs in his school isn’t simply involved with drugs and all.

Under the eyes of Student Xu Meiji, Wei Lou called Prosecutor Ye Yuyan and reported what the witness had said.

“Yes. He said it was Datura and the description was always the same as we know. The witness had seen him with his own eyes. Okay, I understand.”

After his call with Prosecutor Ye Yuyan had ended, he looked at Student Xu Meiji.

“Kid, you’re lucky. The boss’s wife said to get you involved. We need you on our side to be able to save your Mimi. But I suggest what you would see next was something you wouldn’t tell anyone. Either way, if you did, no one would believe you anyway~” said Wei Lou as he approached the kid and placed a pill near his lips.

This pill was redeemed from the system mall and it could cure all injuries in a few minutes. This is an elixir only found in the cultivation world but was allowed to be redeemed as the stocks themselves came from Hei Anjing’s warehouse.

Wei Lou said, “Eat, kid. We need to leave as soon as possible. You want to save Student Fu Miyan right? The only way to do so is to work with us.”

Student Xu Meiji only hesitated for a moment before eating the pill near his mouth. He is not afraid that he would be poisoned as he knew this man in front of him is someone from the police side. Though he doesn’t believe cops that much as they never helped him whenever he reported about the drug case before, this man named Wei Lou seems different from the rest.

The effects of the pill took only a few minutes and the pain all over Student Xu Meiji’s body faded as he was finally able to not only sit up but also stand up.

Student Xu Meiji was in awe, “I’m completely healed? How is that possible!?”

“Get up kid. We need to get going,” said Wei Lou as he used a Substitute Talisman to take Xu Meiji’s place and programmed it to the injured version of Student Xu Meiji.

Xu Meiji looks at the dummy that looks like him on the bed. It was moving on its own and pretty much look like him.

“What is this? A puppet? It looks real...” said Student Xu Meiji in marvel.

“Ask questions later, kid. We need to leave before someone who comes to kill you come,” said Wei Lou.

After everything was in place Student Xu Meiji and Wei Lou were about to leave when they heard a commotion from outside the room of Xu Meiji. When Wei Lou heard that people outside were saying they’ve heard the guard outside called Officer Ying Wu.

Wei Lou had longed to replace the guards of Xu Meiji with dummies as Hei Yuhua ordered. He also listened to his warning of keeping things distant from Ying Wu. Even though Wei Lou didn’t understand why, if he had to choose whom to believe between Officer Ying Wu and Hei Yuhua then he would choose his sister-in-law regardless.

“Officer Ying Wu, greet... Argh!”

“What are you doing!? Captain!! Why did you shoot at urgh!!”

Based on sounds alone the two dummy guards outside were killed.

Upon hearing people were in chaos outside, especially the silent gunshots. Wei Lou used his life-saving invisible talismans on him and Student Xu Meiji immediately hid in the darkness in one of the corners of the room.

Wei Lou whispered to Student Xu Meiji who was trembling beside him and even covering his mouth. He had a grim expression on his face. Though Hei Yuhua had already warned him that someone would definitely come to eliminate the witness, Wei Lou would never be expected it to be someone he knows. That was Officer Ying Wu, a supposedly naive and righteous young police officer. For him to come to this place to kill Xu Meiji means that he is directly involved with the Red Poppy Syndicate.

“Don’t speak. This bastard hid too well. Damn it.”

Once they’ve turned invisible, the door finally opens revealing a cold-faced Officer Ying Wu in casual clothing. He was wearing blood clothes from top to bottom. In his right hand is a gun with a silencer attached to it. Staring at Xu Meiji on the bed coldly.

The dummy Xu Meiji looked terrified at Officer Ying Wu in front of him. The familiar face was the same as ever. Gentle features yet the naive and innocent feeling before were replaced with iciness and indifference for life.

“Who are you!? I don’t know you at all!” shouted the dummy Xu Meiji.

“Someone to clean up the traces Datura left. Sadly, you knew too much, boy.”

ARGH!

With a few droplets of blood on his cheeks, he steered lifelessly, panicking and frightened to death Xu Meiji on the bed. With just one bullet of a gun, the dummy on the bed had died. Student Xu Meiji saw himself die on that bed and was shocked to the core that he couldn’t help but whimper lightly.

Whimper~

But such a light sound was enough for Officer Ying Wu to point the gun in their direction. The first shot missed but seeing that the man with the gun had no intention of stopping to shoot at all, Wei Lou decided to leave the place immediately and used the teleportation talisman on him. The next gunshots were in their direction thankfully they escaped before a rain of bullets fell on their body.

‘SHIT!!!’ Thoughts of Wei Lou in that split second.

Ying Wu after being a hidden villain for a few lifetimes was cautious as hell. Plus, he was exposed to supernatural things like invisibility and such, because of this reason he wouldn’t allow even a single person of carelessness on his side. So he started shooting that corner where he heard a sound.

If someone supernatural is hiding there, then blood will flow regardless if not the bullets would be blocked instead. But none of it was the same as he had expected. There is not even a trace of blood in the direction he had rained bullets and only heard the sound of the wind from the slight opening of the window in the room.

With his eyes slightly narrowed, Officer Ying Wu mumbled, “Wind? Then that whimper must be my imagination. Either way, the cleaning is complete. Let’s leave the rest to Datura.”

Ever since Officer Ying Wu’s system had gone out, the items in his possession had become limited. His points were about to run out and because of this, he chose to remove all witnesses or traces that would lead to the destruction of his syndicate.

“I haven’t seen the despair in Ye Yuyan’s eyes yet. Until then... My pawns must remain to exist.” mumbled Officer Ying Wu as he left the hospital unhindered and no one knew he came there. He used a tool to cut off the surveillance and made him invisible to the NPC of this world.

Unknown to him characters like Lou Wei are around and with Student Xu Meiji getting involved with their team his original plot was also destroyed. That’s why they were unaffected by the tool Officer Ying Wu used in the hospital.
