Furthermore, at the same time. In the guild master’s office of the craftsmen’s guild that had banished Cyclo.

“Now, I have called you here for something else. I want to talk to you about the work I want to entrust you with.”

“Yeah. I know, Dad. That’s why you got rid of that incompetent Cyclo, right?”

The guild master, Rowe Shortock, is having such a conversation.

And Rowe’s son, Koh Shortock, who had never seen the light of day because he had lost his position as the boy genius engineer to Cyclo.

“Now then, what are we talking about? I only fired the incompetent because he was incompetent. There was absolutely no room for such personal feelings.”

“Haha, that’s rich of you to say that. Even though you were in high spirits too.”

Grinning and laughing, they continue to talk about the conspiracy that took place when they expelled Cyclo.

“Well, that aside. With Cyclo’s resignation, there is no one left to do one of the jobs our craftsmen’s guild has: the periodic inspection of the palace’s old clocks. We have to leave it to someone else, but we can’t trust it to a half-baked craftsman.”

“That’s where I come in. I, the one with the skill “Dexterous” and a genius engineer who has learned the skills of all craftsman!”

“Mm-hmm, that’s right.”

At Koh’s boastful words, Rowe nodded without denial.

""

“And – this reform is only the beginning. Starting with this, the work that has been entrusted to a few people with “Job skill” – or rather, the work that had to be entrusted to them – will be done by excellent craftsmen alone. And for other half-skilled jobs, we will apply appropriate cheap craftsmen to reduce labor costs.”

“That’s how the cheap underlings and some of the upper management monopolize the work. We will dismiss the “Job skill” holders and specialized craftsmen who can’t do other jobs, while getting paid well for their skills, even though they are only half good. This will give us more power, improve the guild’s cash flow, and the craftsmen’s guild will prosper, right?”

“That’s right, my son.”

They continued their conversation, making no attempt to hide their discriminatory attitudes toward those with “Job Skill”.

Such reactions are not particularly unusual. In this country, jobs for people with Job Skills are regulated by law. Salaries are guaranteed to be higher than those of ordinary craftspeople.

For this reason, there are not a few people who discriminate against those with Job skills.

And Rowe and Koh, who are also in the same boat, are planning to control and dominate the craftsmen’s guild with such an ideology.

“But for this plan to work, the periodic inspection of the palace’s old clocks must also be successful. You can do it, right?”

“Of course, Dad.”

Koh nodded confidently.

“I’ve studied the construction of mechanical clocks and have ample experience in repairing them. It’s just a matter of changing it to one of the palace’s, and I won’t have any problems.”

“I see. I see. Then there’s no problem.”

""

“Besides, they are amateurs. If I make a mistake, I can always come up with a good reason to cover it up.”

“Ha-ha-ha! You’re a bad man, my son!”

The Shortock father and son that’s having a terrible conversation.

Little did they know at the time that this choice would lead them to fall headlong into hell.
