Miyamura Towa’s Conceit

After that, the study session truly began.

Sakuya had a lot of problems that she didn’t understand and she often asked for my help.

“Which formula should I apply to this one again?”

“This one, it’s linked to the earlier problem, see.”

Emi does the same albeit much less frequently.

At a time like this, it made me try to come up with an easy way to explain to them.

“What does [Can] mean? A Car?”

“I’m surprised, didn’t expect to hear you say [Can] here you know.”

“Then Madoka is not good at English too?.”

“Hmm, I’m certainly not great with it. Maybe [Can] is a newborn puppy’s bark? They usually go [CanCan] after all.”

“I see, a newborn puppy does sound like that huh.”

“Ha?”

A bitter smile floated on my face as I couldn’t follow the conversation between Sakuya and Tsugaru-san at all.

Seriously, I don’t know if they are actually baiting me for a retort or not.

“Please don’t mind the two of them.”

“Okay……”

There’s a small part of me that wants to join though.

After that, I sometimes chime in whenever their conversation turns weird again.

Since I never stopped moving my pencil, my homework was done in no time.

Then, when I started to prepare for the next subject, I heard the front door opening.

I can tell from the sound alone that my father just come back.

A moment later, my father entered the room where we were studying.

“Hello, thank you for having us. I’m Towa-chan’s classmate, Sasaki Emi.”

“…….Hi, I’m Towa’s father.”

My father seems to be in a slightly bad mood.

His ‘friends are unnecessary’ stance still remains firm so it displeases him to see that I have friends that I get along with.

Seeing him, Sakuya and Tsugaru-san also appear to be a little uncomfortable.

However, the girl next to them was not scared of my father at all.

“You seem like a serious and diligent person, now I can see where Towa-chan got those qualities from.”

“…….Is that so.”

“Actually, both for studying and our private life, Towa-chan is a rival and friend that made me want to work harder to better myself.”

“Hou.”

My father is being drawn in by Emi.

Since he usually shows no interest in my friends at all, it’s a little strange to see him like this.

After that, Emi continues talking to him with a bright smile.

And gradually, they hit it off.

“Emi is so dazzling right now……..”

The two were fascinated by Emi’s communication skills.

It’s actually amazing to see her able to go back and forth so casually with my strict father.

“I want to get along better with Towa-chan in the future too!”

“I see, she can be headstrong sometimes but please take care of her. I want her to have all kinds of life experiences. I will leave that to you, Sasaki-san.”

“Gladly! Actually, I was thinking about inviting her to a pool this summer!”

“Hahaha, that sounds like fun isn’t it. I hope you keep being good friends with my daughters from now on as well.”

Father left the room in a good mood.

He always looked like he was in a bad mood so seeing him look so gentle like this is rare for me as his daughter.

“W, What was that just now……?”

I whispered to Emi.

“The plan Hideyori-kun and I came up with was a success.”

Said Emi as she smiled and gave me a peace sign.

Curious, I asked her what the said plan was.

“I pitched to Hideyori-kun that we should try persuading your father with only us girls. Then Hideyori-kun said [I see, but persuasion alone won’t change things, it’s time you utilize your womanly weapon, Emi], he also said [No man would be able to stay moody after being flattered by a girl after all] so we started practicing under that premise.”

“He was right on huh…….”

“My Hideyori is so amazing.”

“No, I’m not sure if we should praise Hideyori-san here though…….?”

Tsugaru-san was astonished, Sakuya was impressed, and I, on the other hand, couldn’t help but retort.

If I asked my father permission to go to the pool myself, I’m sure that he would never grant it.

But through Hideyori-san’s wisdom and Emi’s skill, we got to the point that he happily allowed me to go…….

“Towa, if something happens again, don’t hesitate to rely on us okay.”

“Thank you, Emi.”

I will treasure her as my friend.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to be friends with her forever.

“Nothing will change even if you rely on me but rely on me too okay.”

“It won’t change a thing but you can rely on me too.”

“Ahh, sure…….., did you really need these two though?”

“I needed them here to create an atmosphere that would get the conversation going you see.”

“We’re just here to add to the number!? Why did you make me study then?”

“But thanks to that, you managed to finish your homework right.”

While whispering a retort, Tsugaru-san started to clean up.

It’s surprising how quickly she can switch gears.

Maybe even if it’s just a little, I have become better friends with Tsugaru-san and Sakuya before I knew it huh. I started to get a little conceited.
