Chapter 103

103 Not breaking the rule.

“Xiaowei, are you sure Lady Yu Ling is engaged in the kitchen? What if she comes back suddenly?” Yang Ning asked in a hushed voice when Xiaowei returned to the chamber after checking on Court Lady Yu Ling in the kitchen.

Xiaowei shook her head and said, ” She won’t. She is overseeing the kitchen staff while they are preparing your meal. From the looks of it, she will be in the kitchen for a while.” She reported.

Yang Ning understood her words and nodded while she started calculating the possibility of her leaving the Yang Household without Yu Ling knowing.

Because if Yu Ling finds out that she is going to the Royal Palace, she will not leave her in peace. She had already told Yang Ning to not do anything and stay at the Yang Household already.

However, how can she do that? If she cannot help Zheng Liang in this situation, she should at least do what is in her hands.

He has helped her many times, it will not be fair if she stays at the Yang Household and does nothing despite finding out that he will be locked at the Dragon Pavilion for a week.

Xiaowei pursed her lips and looked around cautiously before asking in a low voice, ” Milady, why are we whispering like this? There are only two of us in the chamber after all.” She asked.

Yang Ning shook her head and said, ” It doesn’t matter. Even though we are alone, we still cannot ease our guard. Don’t you know even the walls have ears? We have to be super careful about this mission.”

Xiaowei blinked in confusion and wondered if they were on a mission. How come she didn’t know about it?

“Milady, However, why did you want to know the whereabouts of Lady Yu Ling? Are you going somewhere?” Xiaowei asked in curiosity to see Yang Ning dressed beautifully.

She was even wearing the beautiful jade hairpin that she never wears at the household. Where is she going that she needs to be conscious of Lady Yu Ling that much?

It’s not like she stops her from going out of the Yang Household. Although she did stop her from going to the palace for a while, as long as she doesn’t go there, there is no issue with her stepping out of the household for a while to get some fresh air.

Yang Ning adjusted her hair while looking into the mirror for the last time and after she was done fixing her dress and hair, she linked arms with Xiaowei and said, ” Not me, but we!”

“Hmm? You mean, I am also coming with you? To where?” Xiaowei looked at her in confusion, not knowing where they were going, that Yang Ning was being so suspicious.

Yang Ning smiled at her and said, “You don’t need to know. You will know after we get there.”

“Now stop asking questions and let’s go before Lady Yu Ling catches us.” Yang Ning said as she pulled Xiaowei along with her.

Xiaowei didn’t have the chance to respond when Yang Ning was already pulling on her arm. Before she knew it, they were already out of the Yang Household.

Xiaowei sighed heavily while looking at the back of Yang Ning who was walking ahead of her and was still struggling to walk in her long skirt. However, her walking posture has gotten better than before.

She was pleased to see her lady who smiles alot these days and has realized her worth. In the past, she used to be scooped up in her gloomy chamber and used to stay depressed.

However, she feels glad that her lady is finding ways to stay happy these days. “I hope Milady stays happy like this, always,” Xiaowei murmured as she wished for her lady’s forever happiness.

She chuckled while admiring the clumsy walk of Yang Ning and decided to hurry up her steps and support her to walk in the long dress. Otherwise, her lady will soon stumble on the dress and will fall to the ground.

She cannot let that happen.

“Milady! What are we doing here?” Xiaowei cried out aloud in shock when Yang Ning brought her to the royal palace.

She told her that she wanted to take a walk and also needed to buy something from the market. Now they are standing in front of the main gate of the royal palace.

Is this the market? How can she make a fool of her like that?

Lady Yu Ling had strictly warned Yang Ning to not go to the Royal Palace. Yet they’re here again.

Yang Ning looked at Xiaowei and said, ” I didn’t tell you beforehand that we are going to the royal palace. Oh My! Looks like it slipped out of my mind.” She said while pretending to be naive in front of her.

Xiaowei pouted her lips upon listening to the not-so-convincing explanation of hers and tried to return to the Yang Household. ” This won’t do. We cannot go inside.”

“We’re going back. Please don’t be stubborn and follow Lady Yu Ling’s instructions. You cannot put yourself in more trouble.” Xiaowei said as she held onto Yang Ning’s wrist and tried to take her back to the Yang Household.

However, Yang Ning yanked away Xiaowei’s hand and said, ” We’re not going anywhere. Xiaowei, don’t forget that I am your Master and not Lady Yu Ling.” She said sternly, putting Xiaowei in a difficult spot.

” If you want to come inside with me, you’re free to do so. However, if you want to return, you can do that as well, but without me.” She stated.

Xiaowei pursed her lips when Yang Ning stuck to her decision and refused to go back to the Yang Household with her.

She sighed as she had no choice but to stay back at the Royal palace with her. Because there is no way she is going back without taking Yang Ning with her.

She cannot do that. Never.

“Alright. However, promise me that you will not break the ruling of His Majesty by meeting His Highness.” Xiaowei said while looking at Yang Ning seriously.

Because if Yang Ning did that, she would be punished severely for breaking the official decree.

Yang Ning nodded and could see the concern in the eyes of Xiaowei. She smiled at her and said, ” Don’t worry. I am not that stupid. I care about my life more than you. I know what I am doing.” She assured her.
