Chapter 506: Death of a Princess

Yun Xiao's journey through the Celestial Court felt like a dark nightmare from which he had yet to awaken.

He followed the direction pointed by her finger and saw what seemed to be a row of stables. These stables stood majestic and solemn, housing batches of divine horses, some scaled like dragons, others with wings sprouting from their backs, and still others, bizarrely, with three heads and six legs!

These celestial horses exuded a vast aura, thick and potent, with eyes bright and alert. Their bloodlines were mighty, true creatures of the Celestial Realm, not mere demons.

Although these creatures lacked the cunning of demons and their intelligence was not high, their pure lineage made them as formidable as the mythical beasts of old, perhaps even stronger than any demon.

With a quick sweep, Yun Xiao saw thousands of these celestial horses! They were restless, neighing loudly and all turning their gaze toward him.

The reason was clear: he stood right by their feeding troughs!

A channel mixed with Ambrosia Nectar and remnants of carcasses flowed into the troughs, right before the eyes of these horses.

"Well, I'll be damned," Yun Xiao muttered. "Feeding the flesh of ascenders to bugs and the leftover broth to horses! That's harsh!"

Yun Xiao had once thought the cruelty of the Three Immortals was beyond imagination, but that was child's play compared to this.

Where was this place? Looking up into the distance, Yun Xiao saw a massive column covered in scale armor carved with three characters—Sovereign Horse Stable!

"This legendary place in the Celestial Court is supposed to be bustling with Immortals. Even though we carry the mark of the Great Dao, our escape from the Ascension Pool means we’re still not free from our mortal ties," Yun Xiao said coldly.

"What should we do?" Lian Xi asked.

"Once we leave the Sovereign Horse Stable, we're free!" Yun Xiao declared.

"But how do we get out?"

"Into the coffin!" Yun Xiao couldn't afford to wait. The celestial horses had noticed them and were growing excited, slamming into the sides of the stables. Should any Immortals see them and recognize them as escapees from the Ascension Pool, they would face grave trouble.

If they were going to sever ties cleanly, they had to cleanse their identities first.

"What?" Lian Xi barely had time to react before Yun Xiao pulled her into the ancient bronze coffin.

In the confining darkness of the ancient bronze coffin, Lian Xi clung to Yun Xiao, her voice trembling with innate dread, "Where are we?"

"Stop pretending, it’s not your first time here," Blue Star chortled.

"Always the same shy plea for a hug, but Divine Dawn could never be bothered," Red Moon added with a laugh.

"What?" Lian Xi's confusion was palpable.

Suddenly, the ancient coffin vibrated, seemingly traversing through space itself.

"How can this be faster than the Skyruler Sword Vessel?" Lian Xi exclaimed in surprise.

"It's normal since this coffin burns through more cash," Yun Xiao mused, turning to Blue Star, "By the way, can you use a Celestial Sourcecore?"

"That stuff is the raw power of the Great Dao, perfect for us, but it's too hot to handle right now," Blue Star replied.

That explained why the little black beast hadn't set their sights on the Celestial Sourcecore of the Devil Ark. It seemed even Red Moon had things he didn't dare to touch!

Throughout this ordeal, Lian Xi was utterly bewildered.

At last, the ancient bronze coffin halted abruptly after its rapid journey and ejected them.

"Exhausting," Blue Star grumbled and rolled back into Yun Xiao's embrace to rest.

"Many Immortals are coming and going," Lian Xi pointed at the city gates.

"Let's give it a try." If they could enter the city smoothly, it would all but confirm they were locals of the Celestial Court!

Soon, the young pair descended on Yun Xiao's Sovereign Sword, blending into the crowd of Immortals.

There were no guards at the gates of Sky Soaring City.

They held their breath as they walked, but soon, they stepped into the city.

The magical arrays of Thunder Department's Sky Soaring City didn't target them.

"This means we're truly free," Yun Xiao said. His and Lian Xi's eyes met, each breathing a sigh of relief after the hardest part was behind them.

"What a grand and vast city of the Immortals in the Celestial Court..."

Having overcome their obstacles, they finally took the time to observe their surroundings.

Before them was a multi-tiered city! It was wrapped in celestial mist, crisscrossed with magical arrays, and strangely luminous.

Immortals moved through the air, busy with their own affairs. There were also non-ascended youths, walking in groups of twos and threes, their lives seeming quite pleasant.

The entire city radiated light, purity, order, reverence, and law... There was none of the eerie sensation of the Ascension Pool.

This Sky Soaring City felt as if it had no hidden corners at all.

"Which one is the real Celestial Court? Can we report the incident at the Ascension Pool to them?" Lian Xi found herself mired in confusion.

"Look!" Yun Xiao said in a deep voice. He was never one to be overly optimistic. "Let's walk around, listen a bit," he suggested.

"Okay."

Together, they wandered through the city of the Celestial Court like a couple of young lovers, albeit in a place far grander and more mystical.

Despite Yun Xiao's striking looks, they seemed quite ordinary for their age and cultivation. They occasionally drew glances, but nothing more.

Everything here was more tranquil than they had imagined.

Just when Yun Xiao began to relax a little, a sudden surge of people erupted on the main street ahead, many running wildly.

Faint cries of agony could be heard.

"What's happening?" Yun Xiao and Lian Xi moved closer to investigate.

They saw a crowd of celestial beings gathered ahead!

In the center of the crowd, a woman clad in white-gold armor was tear-streaked and in evident agony.

"Arbiter Liu, please, tell us what has happened!" many Immortals urgently asked around her.

Arbiter Liu looked at the crowd, her voice filled with sorrow as she announced, "The High Court of the Celestial Court formally mourns and informs all regions that Divine Dawn, the Seventh Princess, has passed away today, plunging the heavens into grief!"
