Book 4: Chapter 64:1: Discussing the Price of a Piano, Part 1

After speaking, the girl ran to her friends and started borrowing money.

Chen Heng could hear words like “fraud,” “Master,” “incredible,” and “destined one.”

Efreet: What’s going on? Aren’t you breaking couples up? Why did you help her find her destined one?

He Who Knows Fate: I do not get in the way of true love.

Magus of Flowers: Tsk!

17-Year-Old Beautiful Young Lady: At least you have a conscience.

Queen of Ice and Snow: To think you could bear to use your electromagnetic ability to scare a young lady.

He Who Knows Fate: What are you saying? What is unbearable about it? I’m also a high-school student.

Over the next hour, Chen Heng’s stall attracted many customers. Who knows whether it was because he appeared professional or because of the girl’s advertisement for him?

Chen Heng only had one rule. If it was about love, he only charged one LMD. If it were about anything else, it would depend on his mood.

Some people believed in Chen Heng after he read their love fortune and would try asking for more divination. However, most of them asked for things like lottery numbers, things he would not reveal. He also would not entertain finance or stock questions.

Furthermore, Chen Heng would warn every customer about a heavenly punishment while making use of the supernatural. He would persist until the Absolute Precognition verified that person would not talk about anything but love. Only then would he let that customer go.

During this time, Chen Heng had indeed broken a few couples up. Of course, it did not happen immediately. Instead, it would happen after the couple followed his instructions and a series of coincidences occurred.

Chen Heng also maintained a bottom line. He would not break up true love. What he broke were the relationships with no firm foundations and would have terrible results. Most of these were high-school students, even middle-school students. This was truly an eye-opener for Chen Heng.

Chen Heng appeared professional and looked very sharp. Furthermore, he only charged one LMD, so people were willing to try.

“Ah! It’s Madam Ch’en! Good evening. Many thanks for saving me.” Chen Heng did not feel surprised. Instead, he remained in place, not moving at all.

“That’s not saving you. Rather, it’s those hoodlums that got saved. If you really fought, you wouldn’t even need a hand to handle the entire group. After all, you are a high-level operator from Rhodes Island.” Ch’en glanced at the two-fingerbreadth-thick rebar bent into a butterfly knot on Chen Heng’s table.

“However, you did help me preserve this stall.”

“I say, you are quite strange. You just got brought to the Lungmen Guard Department because of a gunfight in the afternoon. Now, you come out here to start a fraudulent divination stall. Furthermore, aren’t you an Aegir? Why do you use Yan’s divination?”

“Madam Ch’en, this is not fraudulent. I’m the real deal. Furthermore, I only divine love and charge only one LMD each time. Is that even a scam?”

“...One LMD is still money. Don’t tell me you look down on one LMD? Speaking of which, your mindset is truly strange. You actually only divine love? No matter what, you still have to come back to the Lungmen Guard Department for setting up a stall without approval.” After that, Ch’en took action, extending her left hand towards Chen Hang’s hand. Furthermore, she held handcuffs in her right.

“Wait. I have something to say.” Chen Heng dodged the attempted arrest as if he had known in advance.

“Pretty good reflexes. You live up to being a high-level operator. What do you have to say?”

“How about this? I’ll do a divination for you for free. If I’m right, you let me go. If I’m wrong, I’ll go to the Lungmen Guard Department with you without resisting. How about that?”

“Please begin your performance, then.” Ch’en initially did not want to play games with Chen Heng. Unfortunately, Chen Heng was a Rhodes Island Sniper and would be pretty skilled. Ch’en would have to put in some effort before she could catch him if he ran (or so she thought.)

“Alright. Pull out a bamboo strip from the lots container.” Chen Heng held out the container to Ch’en.

“Aren’t you even going to ask me what I want to divine? Even for fraud, this is too unskilled, right?” Ch’en casually drew a bamboo strip from the container and handed it to Chen Heng without even looking.

“I’ve already said. This is not fraud. Furthermore, my divination does not depend on what you want to see, but what I can see.” Chen Heng received the bamboo strip Ch’en handed over and casually tossed it back into the container after a glance.

“That’s it? Start your performance, then. Let’s see if you can convince me. However, I don’t care whether you fail to convince me after you speak or stay silent; you will have to come back to the Lungmen Guard Department with me.”

“Madam Ch’en, has anyone told you that you are too strict?”

“Yes, several.”
