Preparation for Adventure part 3
The town was about to come into view, so I put my machete away in the dimensional storage and when I reached the city walls, I was approached by a soldier guarding the gate.
The first townsman, stracth it, the first human being I initially talked to in this world was an unmotivated soldier in front of me.
I wonder if he was the same age as the original me.
Even though I knew it wouldn’t be very fruitful, I still did a little appraisal.
[Soldier]
Good at manufacturing, very strong.
It seemed that the appraisal records had changed somewhat and the amount of information had increased.
In the past, there were only “very strong” or “very weak”, but now there were more areas of expertise.
Maybe it was because the level of Alchemist had increased.
All in all, this gatekeeper was obviously a soldier, but he was good at manufacturing too.
Could that be the reason why he gave the impression of not having energy?
“Hello, mister.”
“Oh, what’s up, kid? It’s dangerous outside the city, isn’t it? Hurry, get your ass inside, we’re in.”
“Yes~”
I greeted him pretending to be a child, but he mistook me for a townie and took me inside the city walls.
No one specifically asked me for identification or where I was from.
After all, it was probably because I looked like 10 years old, and they let their guard down.
It was a different story if I dressed like an orphan with ragged clothes, or skinny with nothing to eat. Fortunately, this otherworldly clothing was new, and the 10-year-old me was just an ordinary earth citizen.
It’s not like I was abused or anything, and I have the normal amount of muscle and fat.
No matter which way you look at it, I was just an ordinary child. It would be strange for me to be living alone outside the town, even if I had come from another village, I will definitely be accompanied by my parents or guards.
No matter how you look at it, I was just a civilian child who left the city for mischief.
That’s why the soldier didn’t ask me who I was, right?
“Thank you, mister!”
“Hey, don’t go out without permission again, okay? After all, your parents will be worried, too.”
“Okay~~”
I just continued to pretend to be child and parted with soldier.
I’d made it inside the town without any trouble, so the infiltration mission was complete for now.
Next, let’s look for a means to sell the horned rabbit.
By the way, although I was the one who created this world, I didn’t even understand the culture of the human species.
Although I’d been watching people’s lives since the primordial times, after that, when I was doing character making, the times advanced without permission, so I didn’t know how the flow of events got to the medieval period.
That’s why I decided to pretend to be a child again and ask passersby.
My first target was the lady who was selling fruit at the street stall.
“Sister!”
“Gee, what a cute little boy. You call me sister. You’re so sweet.”
First thing had to do was social talk.
Since I didn’t have otherworldly money, I couldn’t buy items to naturally create conversation and get information.
In that case, flattering the other person instead of money to make them feel good is the norm.
It is also called hospitality in the social terminology.
“Mom told me to go sell a horned rabbit later, do you know where I should go?”
“Oh boy, then, you should go to the leather shop or the adventurer’s guild. Do you know where it is?”
“I don’t know.”
“Oh, I see. It’s not a place for children after all,” she said.
Auntie answered my questions fluently, probably because she was happy with the social talk.
I was able to find out the location of the shop without any difficulty, and completed the quest again, this time to the adventurer’s guild.
It was a piece of cake.
Although Auntie said it would be better to sell at a leather shop or the Adventurer’s Guild, but after asking for details, the meat would only worth a small fortune if I took it to a leather shop, so I decided to go to the Adventurer’s Guild where I would sell it whole.
It seemed that auntie was under the misconception that the meat of the rabbit would be eaten at home, and I only wanted to sell the leather.
Incidentally, fortunately, the Adventurer’s Guild’s location was nearby and its appearance was more splendid than most buildings, so I quickly found it.
It’s called Adventurers after all, so it’s mostly people who fight for a living I guess, because I’m afraid of being pestered, so I entered the building just in case equipped with a machete.
I wasn’t sure if this was a good idea or not.
“Excuse me~”
“Ahh, what’s wrong, little kid? Doing errands?
“Yeah.”
The moment I entered, the rude people who had been drinking glanced this way, but lost interest as soon as they saw that I was a kid running errands for his parents and went right back to talking and laughing.
The sister of the receptionist who spoke to me looked like she would serve me, so I left the horned rabbit on the counter.
I was the one that broke its neck and knocked it down, my first prey.
There were a few other prey that were knocked down with a machete, but since this one was undamaged and looked like it would sell for the most money, I decided to sell this one on the first.
The sister at the reception desk began to smile and kindly examine the prey, looking around to make sure there were no wounds.
Since I was waiting idly, I decided to give the sister an appraisal.
[Receptionist]
She specializes in attack magic. She’s too strong. Definitely, don’t make her your enemy.
“Pfft? Cough, cough.”
“Ara?
I couldn’t help but cough when I saw the too-out-of-the-ordinary appraisal results.
Truly of an adventurer’s guild employee, I didn’t expect the Appraisal-san to freak out and issue a warning.
I seemed to be a helpless existence at around character level 3.
Since the explanation had excelling in attack magic, her occupation was most likely a wizard, but that doesn’t mean that you have to be a wizard in this world to be able to use magic or anything like that.
Even if the occupation was a swordsman, a wizard can use a lance skillfully with exercise.
As proof, in a time when there was no concept of “occupation” brought about by the miracle of Creator God, Lara Shatira, the first woman of the human race to become a High Elf, used magic in order to help the hero Dharma.
Of course, it would be easier to grow up with an occupation, but that’s not the entirety of a human’s potential.
It would be foolish to determine occupation based on this sketchy appraisal result.
In the end, even I, as the Creator God, didn’t know how occupations were determined in the first place.
“Ah, no, it’s nothing.
“Is that so? All right, this horned rabbit would be worth two silver coins. Would you like to sell it?”
“Okay, then, please~.”
I received the silver coins (but the value was unknown), and I pretended to put them in my pocket when it stored to my dimensional storage.
Well, now that I had the money, the next step was to get my ID.
I’d ask the sister.
“Also, I want to join the adventurer’s guild.”
“Ara?”
The sister seemed to think I was just here to sell my prey and gave me a surprised look at my proposal.
“Because I want to work early.”
“Oh, oh…….I see. I see.”
“Can I register?”
“Well, it’s not something I can do… But, you don’t have the power to fight, do you, little brother? Adventurers are not easy jobs.”
When the receptionist sister said that, there was an uproar of “Yeah, yeah, yeah” from the adventurers behind her.
Apparently, she was admonishing me because I didn’t understand the difficulty of the job and thought I was about to do something dangerous.
Of course, having been eaten by a wyvern, I am well aware of that.
I’m not so narcissistic that I’m going on a dangerous hunt by myself at level 3.
But then, what should I do?
Of course, I’d already prepared the answer.
“It’s okay. I know how to use magic.”
“Huh? Magic?”
“Did you say magic? Don’t be ridiculous, kid! The so-called wizard, ah, is an occupation that only nobles with potential can obtain who have been studying since childhood. It’s impossible for a commoner, gahahaha!”
The adventurer who laughed like that probably said that because he was worried about my safety.
He didn’t want to let the boy who claimed to be able to do the impossible, and who is barely trying to be strong, die in the hunt. I can see the intention of the person who said that.
That said, though, it’s a misguided point.
“No, it’s not. What I can do is not attack magic, but recovery magic.”
“……..”
“…”
The moment I said that, the guild fell silence.
