Chapter 308 Look After You Will heaved a sigh as he entered the building and pressed the floor where Paula's unit was. Paula was Oliver's fiance, and Olivia asked him a favor to look after Paula whenever he could. Olivia and her mother were both busy looking after their father, not to mention Olivia's duty to the country as the newly appointed Prime Minister.
He was trying to call Paula to check on her tonight since she had a very sensitive pregnancy. Olivia asked for a private doctor to be with her but Paula refused, saying she could take good care of herself and she would just call if she needed things.
He immediately rushed to the door and opened it using Paula's passcode. He and Paula knew each other just recently because of Oliver. He was aware that she was Oliver's fiance but he did not know that Paula was already pregnant when Oliver died. Olivia was the one who told him about it and Olivia said that he was the only one she could trust to help Paula whenever Olivia nor her mother was not available to aid Paula.
He was actually glad that Paula became a way for Olivia and him to communicate after Oliver's Oliver's death. So he would not disappoint Olivia in taking care of Paula, especially now that Oliver was gone. He, too, felt terrible for Paula. It must have been tough for her not to mention that she was carrying a baby inside of her who just lost a father even before the baby was born. And he honestly looked at Paula with so much respect for how she was handling everything. He could tell that she was a strong woman.
"Paula?" Will called but there was no answer. He looked at every corner of the unit first and the last he checked was Paula's bedroom. She was not there as well. Will was about to go out when he noticed the light in the bathroom.
"Paula?" he called but there was no answer. He did not know why but his heart started pounding hard. He opened the door and quickly rushed inside when he saw Paula, unconscious on the floor.
He immediately carried her in her arms and ran out of the room towards his car. He could not afford to wait for an ambulance at that rate. He had basics in first aid training to tell if he needed to wait for an ambulance or not in Paula's condition and how he saw her on the floor.
"Oh God, Paula, wake up," he called while driving to the nearest hospital. He called the hospital beforehand to take care of Paula as soon as they arrived.
They reached the hospital in due time and the doctors looked after her in the emergency room.
"She's pregnant. Three months pregnant," Will informed and then he also called Paula's obstetrician and gynecologist at another hospital to coordinate with the doctors where he rushed Paula. Minutes past and Will kept on pacing while waiting for the doctors. They ran tests on Paula to ensure nothing was wrong with her body.
One of the doctors turned at him and said, "she passed out only but the cause could be psychological. We will know once she wakes up. Good thing she did not hit her head or hurt any part of her body on the sudden fall. At this rate, we can't afford her to be alone. She had to have someone who could stay with her at all times."
"Thank you, doctor," Will commented and he sat on the chair near Paula's bed. He looked at Paula and released a sigh of relief. Olivia must know about this. He grabbed his mobile phone to call Olivia but he felt a hand on his arm.
"Please don't tell Olivia. She had a lot on her plate right now and I don't want to be an additional burden for her and Aunty," Paula, who was finally awake, whispered weakly. She just opened her eyes and saw Will on his mobile phone. She could tell already by his looks that it was Olivia who was he planning to give a call.
Will ended up emitting a long frustrated sigh. He looked at Paula directly and whispered, "I won't tell Olivia if you will exactly do whatever I say to you Olivia."
"Huh?" Paula whispered with a creased forehead.
"The doctor said you can't stay alone on your own so I suggest you live with either Olivia or any of your closest friends…" Will suggested.
Paula bit her lip and whispered, "I don't have anyone but Oliver. I am an orphaned Will…" Paula murmured, fighting the urge to cry. She was an introvert and it was only Oliver managed to enter her life but he left her too soon.
"I don't want to stay with Olivia and Aunty… Please… I can't stay there," Paula commented.
"Then how about you accept Olivia's suggestion for a private nurse?" Will reminded but Paula only shook her head.
"The nurse will report everything to Olivia and the last thing I wanted is to worry her," Paula answered.
"Fine, you stay with me… End of our discussion. You can't stay alone in your condition Paula so please think of your baby. With me, I can guarantee your safety without you worrying about being a burden to Olivia or Aunty. This is the least I can do for Oliver after everything that happened. So let me make sure that the woman Oliver loved and his baby is kept safe…" Will said with a firm voice.
Paula no longer responded. She could only bite her inner cheek. Will took her silence as a yes so he no longer wasted any moment and made. He instructed their helpers to prepare a room for Paula that instant to their house. He would bring Paula directly there once she got discharged from the hospital.
"Thank you, Will," Paula whispered as soon as Will came back to his seat near her bed. Will smiled at her and said, "It's nothing, Paula. Right now, all you need to do is focus on your health and your baby. You don't need to be shy around me because it's my duty and responsibility to look after you…"
"But, Oliver's death is not your fault, Will…" Paula commented. She was aware of what was going on between Olivia, Will, and the Royal Family. She, too, kept on convincing Olivia that it was not her fault that Oliver was dead. Those things happened for a reason and none of them wished nor hoped for it to happen to Oliver.
She, too, was devastated by Oliver's death but it was beyond their control. What mattered now was the culprit who killed Oliver was caught and would soon get his punishment. Duncan was sentenced to death and Olivia did not want any delay. She wanted the death sentence to commence as early as possible.
Will gave Paula a grateful smile as he whispered, "thank you too, Paula, for thinking like that. I am sorry this had to happen to Oliver and you…"
Paula heaved a sigh and whispered, "you're a good person Will and I'm sure wherever Oliver was right now, he would not want any of you to punish yourself or accuse yourselves of his death."
