Chapter 143 - The Damsel In A Locked Room!

"Aww, thank you Syna."

Jade became happy at once, assuming that the things were normal again but to her disappointment her explanation and pregnancy made the situation worse. It might have been good if Syna knew that Jade was already married, and not aiming for her mate Sinclair, who was actually Jade's cousin. 

Jade Lombardi hugged Syna at once, the lady became overwhelmed with emotions and sisterly love, moreover to her assumption the misunderstandings were resolved.

"Would you mind having a tour with me, Syna? I know you did not get a chance to see every corner of the building."

Jade Lombardi offered to Syna with a genuine smile, which pressurized the bride to agree and accompany her on the round. Jade was correct, Syna hadn't seen the whole building yet although she worked with Sinclair MacLaverty for two months before the Lord forbid her to step in the conglomerate because that she held the title of his wife now.

"Sure, why not."

Syna had to agree to Jade unwillingly because the way she was behaving righteously with her, forced Syna to ponder upon her suspicion that there was no way that kid in her round belly was Sinclair's, he would not lie to her, would he?

"Let's go then, I have to gather the information from all the departments too."

Jade Lombardi casually said that, hinting she was an influential personality and that's why the other ladies did not dare to speak a word or rebel against her.

"Eh? Why do you need it?"

Syna got the bait and questioned Jade at once, with some mixed expressions at the same time. 

'Why slut? Do you want to drag down my husband using the company assets?'

Of course, how could Syna think straight after seeing her swollen belly and learning that she was pregnant, the bride did not expect anything 'good' and 'nice' from Jade Lombardi. 

"Oh, it just slipped my mouth, don't tell anyone but…"

Jade stuck her tongue out, sandwiched in between her teeth and chuckled softly like a child, the lady was being controlled by her hormonal changes!

"But Sinclair MacLaverty and I, are partners with fifty - fifty assets division."

The realization left Syna widen her sockets with an utter shock,  she hadn't expected Jade to come over the conglomerate because of her partnership, rather the lady had assumed Jade to be chasing Sinclair everywhere.

'No, Syna, don't get fooled by her sugary words, she is taking you under spell.'

Syna assured herself, scolding inwardly while she clenched her fists.

"Oh, I see. Yeah, I won't tell that to anyone, rest assured."

Syna gave a lopsided grin.

"Haha, okay. Now shall we move?"

Jade Lombardi began to analyse whether Syna was going to follow her or not.

"Yes, yes."

Jade strode towards the door and closed it when Syna had crept out with her, she needed to do it knowing Sinclair's habits, the lady didn't want to trigger his irritation over such a petty thing.

Jade halted outside the office of Sinclair MacLaverty and called out to other lady who was standing a few steps away from the door.

"Chloe?"

The lady was beautiful, slender and tall, she approached them both with a professional smile on her face and a decent gait.

"Yes, ma'am?"

She bowed a little, it seemed that the lady was Jade's secretary because Syna hadn't seen her, well, of course she didn't know much people there but Adriana was an exception as her face remained caked with heavy makeup all the time, and Syna had seen her adding a few puffs of powder to those heavy layers.

"Can you please take Syna on a round of this floor, till I get some files?"

Jade Lombardi asked Chloe who nodded in agreement at once.

"Yes, ma'am, I will keep Miss Syna accompanied."

Jade shifted her eyes towards Syna, who was standing beside her with speculative eyes darted onto Chloe. 

"Will you be able to manage for a few minutes, Syna?"

Jade wanted to be sure that Syna would remain in safe hands as for now with her secretary until she returns after gathering the files of monthly reports. 

"Yes, sure, I will be fine."

Syna nodded as Chloe did earlier, after saying Jade went off leaving Syna and Chloe in the quiet corridor.

"Shall we, miss?"

Chloe cleared her throat and asked for permission to which Syna responded with a 'mhmm'.

Both the ladies chatted about various things and Syna narrated the whole scenario happened with Adriana, when Chloe asked, both the women talked about the mutual interests and hobbies while Cloe introduced Aaira to other staff members in other major departments. 

"You are so sweet, ma'am and I'm totally impressed by your styling and way of talking."

Chloe slid her gaze across Syna's dress and it actually fascinated her.

"Haha, I'm flattered, well thank you." 

Syna replied normally, although her words flushed her face and stirred shy feelings within her because all the dresses in her wardrobe were selected by Sinclair himself. 

"Ah, Miss Syna, would you mind...err...why don't you see this corridor by yourself,  it is our record room, the very next door, I forget to hand over this file to Jade ma'am and it is important, I will be back in no time."

"No problem, you can go." 

Syna simply smiled, although the situation became awkward. Chloe left the corridor and disappeared from her eyes, while Syna opened the door and walked into the room for a checkout.

As soon as the lady strode in, the door suddenly shut without a noise nearly silently that Syna did not even know until she turned around, when a few feminine voices pricked her ears, the bride could not recognize because of feeble chattering, the voices were near her perhaps right outside the door yet they seemed familiar. 

Someone was outside the room, Syna placed her hand on the door knob, turned it and pulled but to her horror it was locked!
