Chapter 640: Chapter 640 - Between a Crown and a Cage

As Broken and Aerin walked farther from the watchful gaze of the elven knights, they finally reached a point where they felt sufficiently out of sight.

In one swift motion, Broken grabbed Aerin's arm, and before she could react, the two of them disappeared into the Unseen Universe of Moonlight.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Broken," she said as they stepped into the pocket dimension. "I thought we agreed not to use this pocket dimension for a while."

"Listen, Aerin. I need to explain some things to you."

"What's going on?"

"The exit of the cave is sealed. I don't know why, but what's clear is that we weren't informed about this beforehand. That alone raises questions."

Aerin's expression shifted. "You think this was deliberate?"

"I don't know," Broken admitted. "But it's suspicious, and I don't trust the situation. We need to figure out what's really going on... Without the knights eavesdropping or interfering." "They never discussed this with me."

"I understand they're your family and your people, but I can't shake the feeling that they're hiding something from us. Maybe the Forest Elves act independently for their own reasons, but there's something here that doesn't add up."

Aerin hesitated. "I've never questioned them before, Broken... do you really think they might be planning to harm us?"

Broken paused for a moment before responding.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Of course," Aerin replied. "I'll do my best to answer."

"What is your true purpose for coming to this Forest Elf village? And what exactly did you discuss with Zeno when we first arrived? Is that a secret?"

Aerin's expression shifted, her reluctance evident before she finally spoke.

"It is meant to be a secret," she admitted, "but I don't think it's something I should keep from you. So, I'll tell you."

"When we decide to leave, we likely won't be able to come back there," Broken emphasized again. "The choice is yours."

Aerin nodded. "Let's leave. There's no point in staying."

Broken nodded. "Alright."

For now, Aerin could remain in this secure pocket dimension while he logged out. At least they were safe from immediate danger.

As for the Forest Elves? Broken chuckled to himself at the thought of their reaction when they discovered he and Aerin had escaped their confinement.

"Let them wonder how we managed it", he said smugly. "Serves them right for trying to confine us."

Zeno, the leader of the Forest Elves, paced furiously. The news of Aerin and Broken's escape from the cave had thrown him into a state of frustration.

"How?!" he roared. "How could you let them slip away? You are supposed to be elite warriors -far superior to those two!"

"They went deeper into the cave," one knight explained, "but after that, they vanished."

"Vanished?! How?! How could they vanish? Do they have teleportation skills?"

Questions raced through Zeno's mind, his expression taut with tension.

"We must find Aerin immediately."

He turned to his assembled warriors. "Spread out across the forest. Search every corner and bring them back. They can't have gotten far."

Zeno then fixed his gaze on the cave's entrance. "And someone-go back inside. Search the cave thoroughly. I'm certain they're hiding deeper inside, waiting for us to lower our guard and leave. There's no way they could have escaped the forest in such a hurry."

He clenched his fists. "Activate the monsters within the area. Make it impossible for them to leave without facing resistance. I want them cornered!"

Zeno took a deep breath, his frustration barely contained. "Something monumental is on the horizon," he muttered.

"Aerin could be in grave danger..." he said. "And I refuse to bear the burden of guilt-failing my sister by not protecting her daughter properly!"
