Roy quickly realized that Delilah had intentionally said such sultry words to confuse and seduce him when she winked at him playfully and used her hand to touch him wantonly.
“W-what are you doing?” Roy grabbed her naughty hand that was caressing his face and lowered it, staring into her eyes with his ghastly ones, demanding an answer.
Delilah, though, felt as if she was looking into the endlessness, one that she wanted to lose herself in and explore the mystery of.
“I was just being playful. What are you getting so worked up for?”
Hearing her words, he scoffed and lowered his head to put his lips close to her skin, breathing into it. This made her heart beat frantically. And it went out of control when his husky, dreamy voice was whispered into her ears.
“Are you ignorant of how charming you’re, or do you believe I would never have that type of feeling towards you even if you seduce me?”
Roy tightened his hold on her wrists, and at this moment, she realized it wasn’t a good idea to continue teasing him.
Thus, she freed her hand from his gentle hold easily and moved away, but he quickly reached out with his hand and grabbed her by the waist and pushed her into his embrace; her breasts crushed against his chest, and her head was buried in the crook of his neck.
Suddenly being hugged by him made her think that he would do something to her, but even after a couple of seconds, he didn’t touch her inappropriately; it would be more specific to say that he wasn’t touching her, and even his hands weren’t holding her in place, and she could break this hug at any time.
‘Did he just want to hug me?’ She raised her head and noticed that he was staring at her with hardened eyes.
“Don’t try to seduce me, or you’ll really get burned.”
The truth is, just like any other man, he wasn’t immune to her natural charms or the allure of her personality as she wasn’t only a flower vase but also highly competent.
However, while any man would want to have her as his lover or wife, Roy broke the hug with her as he didn’t want to entangle with someone when he was certain that there’d be many dead in the future when Chaos invades Far West and Delilah or he himself might be among them.
Moreover, he was too busy dealing with Chaos and troublesome bastards to develop a stable love relationship with her or any woman.
And… this situation will last until Chaos is defeated.
That means he didn’t have the time to fall in love for the next many years.
Hearing his words, Delilah chuckled; her one hand was on his shoulder, and with the other one, she swirled her finger on his wide chest teasingly.
“If it’s you who wants to “burn” me, maybe I won’t mind. What then?”
She looked into his eyes, waiting for a reply.
Lust was in the air around and in between them.
“Then… I will make sure to fulfill your wish when that time comes.” Whether he would or not was a different question, but it didn’t hurt to give her some hope, right?
Roy’s husky voice made her blood boil in excitement.
Uncaring of her thoughts, he grabbed her chin and raised her face to admire it.
Her soft lips attracted him so much that he checked out their softness physically.
You didn’t need to love someone to feel lustful towards them or admire their fine features. That’s what Roy was doing right now, just admiring her because he felt like it.
Delilah felt his thumb pressing and gliding on her lips, and thus, she immediately moved away from him.
This signified that just like how he wasn’t serious about her, she too was joking with him from the very start.
She giggled at him, “We won’t be getting together today or ever. We will keep being this until we part ways.”
They would never get together as she didn’t love him and was, to be honest, only lustful for him because of his perfect face and body. That’s what she basically expressed to Roy.
“We will… see.” Roy wasn’t in love with her either. So he didn’t feel hurt by her words.
“Anyway, what will happen if we get the evidence of her plot to kill you?” Swift Death asked.
Roy replied, “I will use it to shift the crowd’s favor to my side, have them sympathize with me, and earn the emperor’s approval to challenge her to a death duel. But this can only happen on the last day of the Adulthood ceremony.”
Roy curled his fingers to form a fist and tighten it.
Rose had an eternity in hell coming for her.
After looting the corpses, they got one runic item and two spatial rings with gold, unique masks, and 2× silver-ranked assassin’s medallions.
Then, they returned home.
…
A day passed away.
Only 14 days were left before the day of the Adulthood Ceremony.
Roy was standing on the roof of the Count’s Manor with his hair and clothes fluttering in the wind and his eyes closed.
“Poof!” “Poof!”
The second the wind died down, his eyes snapped open, and two fireballs manifested above his hands.
He flung them forward in such a fashion that they rotated around each other, swirling and twirling and eventually melding into one big fiery entity.
『Ding! You’ve self-created the Greater FireBall Spell!』
This system’s notification put a smile on his face.
Reflected in his eyes was a 2-meter wide and 5-meter tall ball made of fire that threatened to crash on the Manor’s water storage and most likely explode it to smithereens along with the rooftop.
“This is what I want to try out the most.”
Saying this, Roy raised and stretched out his hand towards the fireball; then, he closed his palm into a fist.
As he did that, a hole appeared in the fabric of reality between the fireball and the water storage.
Then, such an incredible spectacle took place that Roy forgot to breathe for a couple of seconds.
The fireball vanished into the subspace before it closed.
Immediately after, the system’s notifications rang in his ears.
『A Greater fireball has entered your subspace!』
『You may summon it from your subspace with a command!』
They were nothing less than pleasant news for Roy.
“The potential of this soul spell is immeasurable. It’s nor worse than a rank-4 soul shard if used correctly.” Roy was amazed at its incalculable effects.
