"Yao Yao…"
Li Qin Yao immediately sensed that it won't be a peaceful night when she heard the way Han Yue Xiu calling her name. She locked the door behind her and met her friend's strange gaze when she turned around. Li Qin Yao subconsciously stepped back until her back touched the door behind her. "Yue Xiu, what's wrong with you?"
Han Yue Xiu chuckled. She wanted to walk over to her friend so that she can coax an honest confession from her friend, but with his sprained leg, it was hard for her to stand up. Thus, Han Yue Xiu could only crook her hands and motioned Li Qin Yao to come closer. "Come here. Sit." She patted on the sofa.
"What are you trying to do?"
"What can I do with this injury on my body?" Han Yue Xiu rolled her eyes. "Come. Let's talk."
In the end, Li Qin Yao could only walk over to Han Yue Xiu and sit down. But of course, she picked an empty seat away from her friend.
"Yao Yao…"
Hearing the way Han Yue Xiu called out her name sweetly like that, Li Qin Yao rubbed her arms. "Stop calling my name like that. You're creeping me out."
"You," Han Yue Xiu pointed her finger as if to reprimanded her friend. "Why don't you tell me what is going on with you and Mister Zhang?"
"What is going on with me and Mister Zhang? Didn't I tell you that we met at the entrance of the restaurant and he happened to heard bits of our conversation? That was why he offered to drive me to the hospital to find you."
"I would believe you if he only drives you to the hospital. But then, he also drive us to the police station and helped with filing the report procedure. And that's not all. He even bought us dinner."
"Why are you asking me? He's helping you."
Han Yue Xiu clicked her tongue and waggled her fingers. "No. No. No. I'll tell you what I think. I think Mister Zhang was helping me because he was trying to get to you by being nice to me. I think he likes you. Or else, he would not trouble himself to this extend to help me. Anyway, if that was what he's trying to do, I have to say that he has my approval."
Li Qin Yao tilted her head down as she thought about Zhang Yu Han. That man had helped her and her friend a lot that night. From the way he helped them, Li Qin Yao could see that Zhang Yu Han is an attentive man.
It was not as if she was a total idiot when it comes to relationship matters. There were a few times that Li Qin Yao had thought that perhaps, Zhang Yu Han was trying to court her. However, that man always sent her mixed messages.
Though he would sometimes show signs as if he was interested in her, there were also times that he was trying to keep his distance towards her. In the end, Li Qin Yao had chosen to stop thinking too much, or she might someday embarrass herself.
"He helped you once and suddenly he have your approval?" Li Qin Yao chuckled. "Yue Xiu, do you think it is really easy to date me?"
Han Yue Xiu laughed and suddenly, Li Qin Yao had a feeling that she might have picked the wrong words.
"You already think about dating?" Han Yue Xiu asked. Once she saw that her friend had given her a dagger look, Han Yue Xiu lifted both hands. "Alright. Alright. I'll stop teasing you. But, Yao Yao, you have dated Chen Hao for more than a year. I know that you guys previously have plans to get married, but let me tell you this. The number of times I see you with Mister Zhang together was way more than the number of times I see you and Chen Hao together."
Hearing her ex-boyfriend's name, Li Qin Yao's face turned sour.
"Yao Yao, hear me out. Back then, when you were with Chen Hao, how many times has he been around whenever you run into trouble? I know that you are very independent. Chen Hao knew that you could handle things yourself and probably took advantage of that too. But isn't it nice to have someone you can depend on once in a while?"
Li Qin Yao listened to what Han Yue Xiu said to her and suddenly recalled how there was once when she had a high fever and her mother was away for a few days. She tried to find Chen Hao, but his mother then stopped him from coming over because of some matters. Li Qin Yao recalled how sad she was as she laid on the sofa alone. But then, she forced herself to stand out and go out on her own to the pharmacy to get some medicine. On that day, she was hoping that Chen Hao could come over and see her.
"Let's not talk about this anymore," Li Qin Yao spoke after a long silence. Realizing that the surrounding had suddenly turned silent, Li Qin Yao glanced at her friend. "You've been through so much tonight. You should get some rest and sleep."
Han Yue Xiu heaved a sigh, knowing that what she had said that night had somewhat made Li Qin Yao upset. Han Yue Xiu stood up from her seat with the help of a crutch and headed to her bedroom. She stopped at the door and turned around. "Yao Yao. I only have one request."
"What?"
"Please don't mention any of this to my parents. I don't want them to worry."
Li Qin Yao glanced at her friend's bandaged foot and soon nodded. "I won't tell your parents. But, you're going to take a few days off from work and stay with me and my mother. At least I won't worry about your condition."
Han Yue Xiu smiled. "Alright. Thank you."
Li Qin Yao watched as Han Yue Xiu closed the door behind her and soon, she headed to the guest room. As she would sometimes stay at Han Yue Xiu's place, her clothes and necessities are all kept in the guest room. Li Qin Yao went up to the bathroom to clean up and once she was done, she jumped into the bed and called her mother to inform that she will be staying at Han Yue Xiu's place and come back the next morning.
Just as she was about to put down her phone on the side table, a thought crossed her mind and she began to type a message. Only when the message was successfully delivered that Li Qin Yao realized that perhaps she was being too hasty.
Before she could regret her action, her phone screen brightened up, showing that a new message had arrived. Li Qin Yao clicked on the screen and saw Zhang Yu Han's reply that he had arrived home ten minutes ago.
Li Qin Yao stared at her phone absentmindedly before she composed another message.
A few seconds later, his reply came: Good night, Miss Li. I will see you next Monday.
