Chapter 116 - It's Never Good to be Overconfident.

Back in Capital City…

Li Mu Bai was having his breakfast of toast and a sunny side up in the dining area when someone pressed on the doorbell. He looked up at the watch and frowned.

It was still too early. And he could not think of anyone who would want to visit his place this early.

Li Mu Bai stood up and walked over to the door. He pressed at the button and looked at the screen. Once he saw that it was his mother and sister, Li Mu Bai froze for a while.

Looking at his mother's face, Li Mu Bai could guess why she had come this early to meet him. It was just that, he had thought that his mother would raise her questions at the office. He did not expect his mother to be impatient enough to come over his place.

The bell rang again, and Li Mu Bai could hear his mother screaming out his name outside. With no other choice, Li Mu Bai pressed another button to allow both his mother and sister to enter. Li Mu Bai went back to the dining room and ate his breakfast slowly as if he was not disturbed by his mother's arrival.

A few seconds later, Li Mu Bai could hear their footsteps coming over. His grip on the cutlery tightened as he braced himself for the next thing.

"Mu Bai!" Zhao Wei entered the dining area with a furious face. She glanced at the breakfast item on the table and suddenly, his anger risen. "You still have the mood to have your breakfast now!"

"Isn't it good that I'm not skipping my breakfast?" Li Mu Bai asked nonchalantly.

Zhao Wei gritted her teeth. "Li Mu Bai!"

Seeing that her mother was getting furious, Li Mu Chen tried to calm her mother down. She turned to her brother and said, "Brother, let's not make mother angry."

Li Mu Bai turned at his sister with a dangerous look. "What did I do? I was merely having my breakfast at my house. The two of you were the ones who come to my house in anger."

Zhao Wei rummaged through her bag and pulled out her phone. She tapped her fingers on the screen and showed a news article to her son. "You look at this and you tell me why I should not be furious?"

Li Mu Bai glanced at the title and looked away. "QL Group won the bidding project in B City. Mother, why are you upset? Should we not be happy that the company won the project?"

"That project was under your cousin's!"

"If she does well, this will only boost QL Group's reputation," Li Mu Bai said.

"I would be happy if this project will boost the company's reputation. However, I could not accept that this project is under Qin Yao. If she does well, there is a chance that your grandfather will bring her back to the headquarters," Zhao Wei said. "Don't you get it? When that happens, she will threaten your position as the President."

Li Mu Bai's gaze darkened at his mother's words. He knew that he won the position as the President of QL Group due to his hard work. Therefore, he could not understand why his mother would make it sound like he only got the position because his cousin, Li Qin Yao was no longer in the company.

"I told you earlier that you should let your sister handle that project. But you just would not listen! Your sister is still new to the company. Would it be hard for you to lend a hand to help her?" Zhao Wei continued to argue. Not only she failed to take over that project from Li Ming Han, but now she had to watch Li Qin Yao climb back to her position.

"Did I not let her handle a commercial hub project in the city?" Li Mu Bai looked at his sister. "Mu Chen, if you do well in that project, you will naturally make your name and reputation in the company."

"But it will not be as good as letting your sister leading the project in B City!" Zhao Wei said.

Li Mu Bai stood up from his chair and walked over to his sister. "If I let you manage the project in B City, do you think you can win that bid to build the tourism city?"

"Of course," Li Mu Chen spoke with confidence. "I have learned hard these few years and mother had taught me a few things as well. Isn't it just preparing a proposal? How hard can it be?"

Li Mu Bai laughed at his sister's answer. "Wrong. You will fail."

"Brother!" Li Mu Chen's face turned ugly.

"You are not as experienced as Qin Yao and you still think you have the chance to win?" Li Mu Bai tilted his head sideways. "Mu Chen, it's good to be confident, but it's never good to be overconfident."

"Brother! You!" She could not say anything but grit her teeth in anger.

"Do you how much money the company is allocating for that project in B City?" Li Mu Bai asked his sister. When she did not answer, Li Mu Bai then turned to his mother. "Mother, you should know this, right?"

Zhao Wei frowned. Of course, she knew. It was not hard for her to obtain any information in the company. However, judging from her son's tone, does it mean that he knew something?

"Mu Chen, the amount of money that QL Group is allocating to build that tourism city in B City is only half than what she needed," Li Mu Bai said. "The other half, Li Qin Yao will have to find people who are willing to invest in that project. Qin Yao managed to find those investors in less than a month. She had gained a lot more then what we aimed for through the investors and that money led her to win that bidding. If it was you, do you think you could do the same?"

Li Mu Chen's face paled. Of course, she could not do it. She was still new in the company and did not have many connections. How was she going to gather that much money in a short time? She opened her mouth to answer, but her brother had cut her off.

"You cannot!"

Zhao Wei took a deep breath to calm down. "Now that Qin Yao had won that bidding, how about letting your sister take over?" Her voice softened as she made the request. "Or else, you can send over your sister to help her. Maybe Mu Chen can learn a few things or two from Qin Yao. Don't you think that is a good idea?"

"Mother's right." Li Mu Chen did not like the idea of working under Li Qin Yao. However, there was nothing she could do if she wanted to suppress her cousin. "I can learn from Cousin."

"I don't agree. Even if you bring this matter to grandfather, he will not agree to it as well. Mother, I am someone with integrity," Li Mu Bai said. He then looked at his sister and sighed helplessly.

Even though he did not like Li Mu Chen's method to gain reputation quickly in the company, she was still his sister. "Mu Chen, if you wanted to prove yourself you better focus on that commercial hub. Don't think of robbing off someone else's achievement."
