Chapter 125 - Two Years Ago

Li Qin Yao's mood was better after she spent hours chatting with Zhang Yu Han about unimportant stuff.

At first, she was reluctant to pick up his phone call, but who would have thought that by listening to his deep, low voice made her heart calm and slowly, she began to forget about whatever that has been troubling her mind.

That night, she had unexpectedly slept soundly.

When Li Qin Yao went downstairs the next morning, she was not surprised that both her grandparents did not ask anything about her argument with her Second Aunt. Her grandmother, Mu Ling Xi was only concerned that she had disappeared for a long time, after dinner.

Li Qin Yao told her grandmother that she went to take a walk around the garden and later, she found out from Auntie Han that Zhao Wei and Li Mu Chen did not mention anything about last night.

There was no way that Zhao Wei would speak a word, especially after her empty threat last night.

Though Li Qin Yao had long guessed that her Second Auntie was the person who sabotaged her two years ago, Li Qin Yao could not do anything to clean up her name because of the lack of evidence.

In that year, when the others accused her of her involvement in that accident, Li Qin Yao was given three days to prove her innocence.

She had spoken to a few of her trusted friends to help her investigate the matter. After probing into the incident, they did found a few clues. Following the lead, she found out that her aunt had been talking to the manager of the supplier.

Surprisingly, the manager admitted to taking bribes from her aunt to change the materials used.

Just when she thought that she has enough evidence to bring to the board of directors, the manager suddenly disappeared. Without evidence, she had no other choice but to give up and leave QL Group.

Li Qin Yao snapped out of her trance once they have arrived at the headquarters. She followed her grandfather into the building and separated when she met Liang Sheng inside. Li Qin Yao took a seat at the lounge and had a last minutes discussion before the meeting with the Board of Directors.

In the middle of their discussion, Liang Sheng paused and lifted his head. Li Qin Yao followed his gaze and saw Li Ming Han stood at their side with a smile.

Liang Sheng turned to Li Qin Yao and nodded before he tacitly stood up and left.

"You've finished?"

Li Qin Yao rolled her eyes. "Why are you here? I thought the meeting won't start until later."

Li Ming Han let out a low laugh. "Of course I'm here to see you, Cousin Sister. Are you okay? I heard you disappeared last night after dinner."

"I'm fine," Li Qin Yao's gaze softened when she saw the concern in her cousin's expression. "I took a walk in the garden last night. It has been a long time since I last return, so I lost my track of time."

Li Ming Han frowned as he took a seat beside her. He stared at Li Qin Yao for a while as if contemplating something and spoke. "The three of you were not the only one in that garden last night. Nan Feng was around in the garden as well."

Li Qin Yao immediately thought of her young cousin, Lin Nan Feng.

"He went out to smoke and saw your argument with Second Aunt," Li Ming Han said. He leaned on the sofa and continued, "I saw him giving a strange look at both Second Aunt and Cousin Mu Chen. I asked him a few questions and who would have thought that he would answer me truthfully." He laughed. "But don't worry, I made him promise not to tell anyone about your arguments."

"Thank you. But, why would he promise you?"

"I threatened him that I will tell Youngest Aunt that he went out to smoke," Li Ming Han said.

Li Qin Yao snickered. There was a brief silence between them before Li Qin Yao spoke and changed the topic. "Right. I didn't get the chance to congratulate you and Miss Bai last night. Congratulations. When is the wedding?"

"We planned to get a certificate in next week and had a wedding in three months."

Li Qin Yao stared at her cousin with her eyes wide. She wanted to tease her cousin but had never thought that Li Ming Han would be off the market for this fast.

Li Ming Han turned to her and his smile widened. "Cousin Sister, you have to come to my wedding. You can bring along your plus-one."

"Of course," Li Qin Yao nodded. A thought crossed her mind and Li Qin Yao inched closer to whisper, "Tell me the truth, is Miss Bai pregnant?"

This time, it was Li Ming Han's turn to look at his cousin with wide eyes. "No. Of course not."

Li Qin Yao returned to her early position and laughed. "But, why do I feel that Miss Bai looked somehow familiar?"

"Hmm… You have probably seen her before," He lowered his gaze and stared at his shoes to avoid Li Qin Yao. "Qing Qing and I were classmates during high school. Her father is someone who worked under the mayor."

"You mean Miss Bai is the daughter of Secretary Bai?" Li Qin Yao put her hand on her chin as she continued to stare at her cousin. "And you have been dating from high school? How come I did not know this?"

"Actually, it was not that long," Li Ming Han laughed. "We haven't been dating until last year. We haven't seen each other after high school and I only met her during Mayor Shi's birthday banquet."

"It seemed that things would not be easy for you now that you are going to marry Miss Bai," Li Qin Yao commented. Now that she thought of it, perhaps it was because of Li Ming Han's engagement that both her Second Aunt and her cousin, Li Mu Chen seemed upset.

Zhao Wei worked hard to push her son to the top, but now, she had one foot in the company and Li Ming Han was about to marry Secretary Bai's daughter. Zhao Wei would be afraid that with someone powerful behind Li Ming Han, her son would be pushed out from the top.

The directors and shareholders would want to curry favor with Li Ming Han and no one would dare to offend him.

Just at the thought of Zhao Wei's upset expression brought joy to Li Qin Yao's heart.

However, this would also mean that Zhao Wei will continue to cause trouble for Li Ming Han and perhaps do something to stop his wedding. Perhaps that was why Li Ming Han was in a hurry to marry.
