[Los Angeles, City Center]
In one of the tall buildings that made the beauty of big cities in America, an young woman wearing a rather open Qipao could be seen laughing out loud as she watched the TV.
"How beautiful, how vicious. I must say. I wondered what you would do after talking so big about the alliance but damn you are good."
The one sitting on the sofa with a bag of chips in her hands as she watched the TV was none other than Yui.
Her expression was filled with mirth and glee as she continued to watch the new lambasting the different company under the control of Blue Shark.
She had to say, when Adam gave her a list of all they owned, she had been quite impressed.
Blue Shark was supposed to only be a mid-level gang but they had a level of resources Yui could not even match without going to beg her biological family.
"I guess being a religious leader sure pays."
It was ironic that a human was doing better in this than a literal demigod. But Yui did not have the ability to absorb faith. Furthermore, her mother was worshiped or at least respected throughout all of Asia. She also had many mediums that constantly mentioned her.
'Still, money is money and the church won't try attacking me.'
This was something seriously worth considering and since Adam seemed to have some relation with a god as well, they could perhaps try building a shrine.
She was sure it would attract many tourists at least.
"Anyway, this is really incredible. How were you able to set this all up in such a short time."
Yui had to admit that she was in awe. It wasn't like she couldn't do the same if necessary. But it was something that would generally take her a few days to weeks to set up.
"Well…Let's just say that I called a few debts. You would be surprised about how much problems people in the media world had to deal with and hide."
Shuri, who was sitting on her office chair, simply shrugged.
She was wearing a pair of round glasses alongside a black skirt and a white shirt. The clothes accentuated her voluptuous forms and she had drawn in quite the looks when she came to work today.
Her hair was tied up in a ponytail, showing her beautiful nape and she was beating on a pencil while typing on her computer.
She had nearly no sleep at all despite having drunk that romanée-county with relish, but this was more than worth it.
At the end of the day, it wasn't like she could sleep well while knowing people were after her life. At least with this, she was sure that she could put them down.
"The reasons spies are both hated and respected is because information and knowledge are power and leaked secrets can ruin everything. Once I had the information at hand, everything else was easy. This is why I am more surprised at how you managed to obtain information so precisely."
"I take no credits. This is the work of Cinder."
"Cinder, huh? He seems like a man of many talents."
Shuri shook her head and massaged the corner of her eyes. Her vision was getting blurry but things were just starting. There was still so much more they could do and she couldn't afford to fall asleep now.
"Heh, seems like my little brother managed to make you interested."
Shuri smiled politely, "Sadly, while I do find him attractive as a man, I have no particular interest in him."
Shuri could think objectively when looking at a man. The man nicknamed Cinder was without a doubt very interesting and if she had met him a little sooner, things may have changed very greatly.
But there was no If. Her problems with her husband aside, she already had enough headaches just thinking of her relationship with Adam.
She had been too ashamed to call him since the previous night which was a shame for another reason.
She couldn't help but wonder what could have happened if her husband had not called at that moment and broken the mood in such a way.
Would they have gone all the way? or perhaps stopped?
What about Adam? What did he think? Did he think she was just a tease? Or perhaps that she was just playing around with him?
She sighed. Perhaps a love relationship wasn't for her after all. Her marriage was in shambles and she was in love or in lust (?) with the son of her friends.
Though she had managed to get some courage in the bathroom last time, now that her hormones weren't attacking her brain at full power again, she was starting to hesitate again.
'Perhaps I should take to Cinder later. Having a stranger to talk about this really helped last time.'
She had only met him once as a client. But Cinder had played the role of a good listener and this was what she needed. Someone to listen to her.
"Say. Now that we are allies. Do I get a discount by visiting him?"
Yui exploded in laughter, "Ask him, he might even be willing to go for free."
She chuckled. Wondering if Adam would ever tell the truth or continue to hide it. Either way, this was not something she could meld in.
This was his personal life and she knew that despite how close they were, there were boundaries one shouldn't cross without permission.
"Well, now that the situation is settled on my side, I hope you are going to keep your part of the deal. It wouldn't be hard for them to soon make a link to me and I believe they will answer very violently."
"Obviously. Protecting you is a given. This is why I am here."
Shuri raised an eyebrow with a dubious look. Wondering how exactly one unharmed woman would deal with a possible armed group. But she summarized that her team was spread in the surrounding area.
"Furthermore, I honestly doubt they have the strength to deal with you currently."
Yuri munched on her potato chip. By now, the true core of the Blue shark should be getting attacked.
'We just need to avoid attracting the attention of the LAPPD.'
