Chapter 244 CH 238: USELESS POLICE

[Los Angeles Police Department]

"Mr. Kirishima! What the hell is happening!? Why aren't we moving out?"

The activity in the police station stopped briefly as everyone stopped to look at the source of the outburst.

When they saw who it was though, some shook their heads and a few others sneered but in the end, they all went to continue their work. The station was filled with activities as everyone was busy rushing left and right.

Kirishima, who was busy giving orders, massaged his forehead and released a sigh,

"Look. I am not in the mood currently. The situation is already as shitty as it can be."

"But…!"

"No fucking but!"

It was rare for Kirishima to lose his temper but it was easy to see now that he was barely controlling himself.

He shouted before covering his face and taking a deep breath. Only after exhaling did his expression go back to normal.

"We just had a briefing. You got the directives. Stop whining."

"This is exactly what I don't understand. What are those directives? How can we be ordered to stay put and let the special department or whatever deal with this?"

Themis Smith felt like she was going crazy. Earlier today, they had received a report about repeated gunshots in different parts of the city. It didn't take long for them to have the confirmation that it was a gang war.

The gangs fighting were unknown but this did not matter in her opinion. A bunch of criminals were fighting using guns in the morning, completely in the open as if they had no care.

This was the best occasion to make an outing and arrest them…Or simply put them down

But during the briefing, the order they had received was to simply work in containing the perimeters, making sure that no civilians were in the zone and letting them fight it out.

Supposedly, if things went out of hand. Some super secret department would take care of it.

What the hell was that? What the fucking hell were those directives?

Kirishima sighed for the third time. He was tired. So tired of having to answer Smith whenever she had an outburst.

Even so he did not want to lash out. At least not any more than he did previously. He knew very well what kind of person she was.

If he made her shut down now, this would not stop her. In fact this would only make her more determined in moving alone and most likely getting herself killed or something of the like.

Kirishima knew that what was happening wasn't just a simple "Gang war.". At the very least, the participant had nothing simple about them.

Intervening in this would only cause problems for everyone and weak normal humans like them shouldn't butt in this kind of case.

Perhaps it was time?

"Very well. Follow me. I think it's time for you to learn about the truth."

Kirishima turned to his officer who had been waiting for the directives, "I will leave the rest to you. The other detective should already be ready. Open the inventory, no one is going out without full protection, and remind them all. We aren't out to fight. Only to calm the unrest."

"Understood."

After looking at him leaving, he turned to Smith, "Now you follow me."

He didn't know if she would believe him. Most likely, the veil would make sure she would not. But there was one way to deal with that. A rather stupid way when all things considered but that really worked.

—----

[Los Angeles Paranormal Police Department]

While the office of the LAPD above was moving around like they had fire chasing behind them. The LAPPD was rather calm.

Sitting in her comfy office chair while watching the news, Theresa was sipping on her cold drink in boredom. Her expression was calm, even as she listened to the report she was getting.

"Did any supernatural attack a human?"

"No."

"Then it doesn't matter. Not our job. Just install the wards necessary, keep the civilians outside of the perimeter and this is done."

Theresa was not in any way worried. Yui had already warned her before attacking. As long as Yui respected the rules and made sure that Supernatural fought supernatural then she was more than happy to just watch.

"We don't act?"

Theresa looked at the puzzled Makoto and chuckled, "Remember well. We do not take a side. Whether the girl Yui wins or loses isn't our problem. If she wins, we will continue dealing with her and if she loses then we will deal with Kang Ho. Simple."

"What if they kill each other?"

"Then we simply find new ones to take their places."

The LAPPD used organizations in the shadows like Wild Hunt or Blue Shark to deal with the problem of the supernatural world.

In a way, they were hunting dogs. They were even better than normal hunters. They didn't have to pay anything. Didn't have to give any coverage or any annuity.

All they gave them was the right to exist.

"Then again, in this case, I would be happy if the girl is the one who wins. She is the only bridge with those nobles who have a stick in their asses."

The officer who was still close coughed a little. He did not want to listen to this kind of thing. People got killed for way less and he liked his life.

"Anyways, send a few guys to the Hanekawa, the Peng, the Albini, and the Wolves."

Werewolves, Vampires, Hunters and Shaman.

Los Angel really had the full starter pack of the supernatural. If she was honest, she was still wondering how everything hadn't just gone into flame until now.

"I am pretty sure the Hanekawa and the Peng won't act. But the others two are wild cards. We can't really restrain them since they aren't humans. But just remind them that they shouldn't act rashly."

Of course, if they only sent humans with no power then she did not care.

Once she gave the directive, Theresa went back to leaning in her chair and releasing a sigh full of relief.

"Ah~This is really the stuff. This is why I fought so hard to become a Director."

A cushy job, a high position, a good pay, and a life without much stress. The most she had to do was to make sure the differents organizations did not fuck up or cause problems that shouldn't happen.

Things started a little iffy with some devil prince summoning. But this kind of event only happened once every 10 years. They should be alright for some time now. There was also the case of her predecessor getting assassinated but it wasn't like she could deal with that now.

She pushed down her black glasses and closed her eyes. Perhaps she should sleep a little.

Standing on the side, Makoto could only look at her master speechlessly. The woman was usually someone really worthy of respect who worked with no pause.

But in a moment like this, she could become even worse than the worst sloth in existence.

She knew very well that now that she was like this, nothing short of a Calamity event would wake her up.

That or hunger.

In the end, all Makoto could do was sit and meditate.
