[Wednesday; 27th November 2030]
The day went by and every hour that passed felt like a century to Kang Ho.
Sitting in the darkness of his office with the curtain drawn, he sipped slowly on a whiskey but even that was not enough to make the bitterness in his heart vanish and the lightness he wished to obtain from his inebriated mind refused to come.
One day. Nay...Less than 24h.
This was the amount of time it took for the wealth he had built slowly over the years to completely vanish like snow under the summer sun.
The attack on his official companies had stopped and funds were being slowly injected. Even though there was so much buzz, the companies themselves would be alright in the future. But Kang Ho had no illusions.
The one who bought the shares were obviously the one attacking him. Now that this person had the absolute majority. He would lose all power in those companies and would only be able to watch.
In the end, though, this was not that bad. He would still have money from the dividend. The problem came from the underworld part. This was actually the place that held majority of his wealth.
'I am ruined.'
Potions, armor, weapons both magical and not, special alloys, rare artifacts, specials animal, and even mecha parts. All things that he had slowly taken, solen, bought or found.
His losses did not stop here. Once again, even if he fell to the ground because of all those, he still had hope to stand right back up.
But more than 60% of forces had been entirely annihilated, a little over 20% had been annexed and another part had fled after leaving their weapons.
He couldn't really blame them. If he was in their position, he would also leave the sinking ship with no hesitation. Sadly, he wasn't so he had to execute those who were leaving.
This was the only way to calm down the one who were still staying an stop the unrest. But he knew that he was over. After this, his subordinates would never trust him and would find a smarter way to leave.
Starting from the beginning was not possible. After such a complete and utter defeat there would be no one who would ever dare to follow him again and his enemies would never let him live it down.
This was a perfect checkmate. He was done for.
At least this would have been the case if he did not have one last trump card.
"Did you find the one who caused all of this?"
His secretary stood next to him, document in hand. She was as beautiful as always and her body was truly enticing him. But now was not the time.
Once she was called, the woman adjusted her glasses and answered promptly, "We have no complete confirmation. But from the clue found in one of the sites attacked by normal soldiers who were able to recognize a certain mercenary.
She moved her hand on the notepad and showed the picture of the man in question which appeared floating in front of them.
"From the information in our database, he is Thomas Anderson. He is one of the lieutenants working for the wild hunt."
"Wild Hunt."
Kang Ho gritted his teeth, "Ahh! That bitch!"
He stood up and threw the glasses against the wall at full force while roaring like an angered beast. His expression was twisted beyond belief and he was breathing roughly.
"That fucking bitch played the saint all this while but she was in reality a cunning fox."
He was angry. So much anger in his heart that he could barely think straight.
In the underworld of K-Town and Los Angeles in general, Yui was something of a joke for many reasons.
The main one was of course that, despite all her relations and the firepower at her disposal with her Hounds, she did not spread her influence far enough because she was busy acting like some kind of robinhood.
They all have been underestimating her and how ruthless she could be. In their mind, she was nothing more than a toothless tiger or a barking dog who never bites.
He had been wrong. They all have been wrong and he was the one that will serve as a warning for everyone else in the future.
'Never.'
He turned to his secretary, his eyes blazing with furry and shining with Prana.
She looked back at him with an impassive look. The atmosphere around her had changed greatly, and he now felt like he was facing a completely different person.
"It seems like you are going to fail in the end."
"Will the Cult give me a second chance?"
She smiled wordlessly and he understood the answer clearly,
"Tell them to not worry. Tomorrow will be Thanksgiving. I will succeed even if it's the last thing I will do."
"Very well. Do not forget. This ritual is very important. Finding a child like yours will be very hard again. So we will be very unhappy if this whole situation ends in a loss."
Kang Ho nodded. He knew very well that the cult would not let him go in case of failure.
"Also…Since we now know who is the one who caused the attack on your force, I think it should be easy to guess who caused the leak of all your plans to happen.
Kang Ho's expression became even more twisted as he thought about it. He may be very conceited, but he was in no way stupid.
All along, he had been wondering where could the leak have come from. It was nearly impossible to strike all those points as only Kang Ho himself knew all the positions.
Or at least this was what he once believed. But…There was someone else. Someone who could have seen everything and would know as much as him.
Now that the situation was clear. He finally had his answer.
Hae-Won.
Everything was the fault of that bitch.
(AN: Welp…Seem like things are about to go to shit.)
