Chapter 258 Real life Progress
'At my current rate of progression, I should be able to refine my heart into a mana vessel in the next few weeks,' Alex thought as he stretched his body.
After awakening the mana, Alex spent most of his time in the real world, refining his heart from impurities and making it accustomed to mana to complete the first requirement to advance to the first Rank.
While the new VR Capsule was helping Alex refile his body, even though at a slow pace, he was still making significant progress without doing any work as in just the last few weeks, all his stats, which were a bit over thirty points, now neared nearly fifty points.
Alex also learned much more about the two ways he could use to get a class and complete the first Rank promotion, with both of them involving the help of the system but one being easy while the other being extremely hard.
The first way required Alex to complete just two of three requirements, with them being refining the heart into a mana vessel and reaching certain stats numbers depending on the class he wanted to pick.
Alex will then go to a facility operated by Zero to complete the third requirement of giving his mana an elemental attribute in a controlled environment, and then he will get his picked class.
The second way, Alex could complete all three requirements himself or take help from Zero in completing them and then pick a class from a wide selection, with even the hidden classes, the likes of, Death Decisple and Plague Pupeteer, being available for choice.
But all higher tier classes had hard requirements while also costing a hefty amount of galactic coins to acquire them.
Alex could also create his own class and complete the Rank promotion the truly hard way, but he knew it was not worth the effort and time.
After stretching his body for a few minutes, Alex took a cold shower before heading downstairs to enjoy breakfast with his family.
Alex saw his father and little sister watching the news about the current events of the Ancient world, the news anchor showing the footage of the three capital cities after the demon invasion, with their speculations about the future running wild.
Alex sat next to his sister, who was engrossed in watching the news and looked saddened by seeing all the destruction the cities had suffered.
"Sophia, Don't take the news seriously, as they are exaggerating things out of proportion to get views," Alex said to comfort his sister.
Alex knew his parent treated the game as just a virtual world, and he had seen enough death in both lives not to be affected by it, but his little sister was pure of heart and different from them.
Sophia had entered the ancient world a few weeks ago, and by now, she had built a connection with it, so he understood the death of so many inhabitants affected her feeling.
"Big brother Alex, I feel so sad. All those innocent people... and the brave defenders lost their lives because of those foolish demons." Sophia said in a shaky voice.
'She is affected more than I thought,' Alex thought, seeing his sister's head down.
"Sophie, It is just a game, and those NPCs, no matter how real they feel, are just programmed data, so don't take it to your heart," Alex's father said as he quickly changed the channel.
'Father, Your words are not helping,' Alex thought as he swiftly got up and took a glass of water from the dining table.
"Sophie, Death is a part of life that nobody can escape from, and it is fine to be sad for people who lost their life but don't let it take control of your emotions because it will eventually disturb your life and the life of people around you," Alex said, as he handed Sophie the glass of water.
"Sophie, So did you make any friends in the game," Alex said to lighten the mood.
"Yes, I did, and I even became the student of the Village Elder and learned magic," Sophie replied, her mood improving.
"Sounds exciting! Tell me more about your adventures," Alex said with an encouraging smile.
Sophie's eyes brightened as she eagerly launched into her tales from the game world, talking about the quests she undertook, the challenges she faced, and the friends she met along the way.
Sophia eagerly talked about her experience of learning and using magic and about her teacher, the elderly village head, and a few minutes later, they moved to the dining table to have breakfast.
Alex stayed engaged in a conversation with Sophia finding it refreshing, and as the conversation flowed, the atmosphere around the dining table became lighter and more cheerful.
"Brother, I also gained a strange title, "Successor of -----" with the last of being question marks," Sophie said, making Alex raise an eye "It's wonderful to hear that you have made friends and enjoy their company," Alex's mother said, offering a warm smile.
"Brother, I also gained a strange title, "Successor of -----" with the last of being question marks," Sophie said, making Alex raise an eye brew in surprise.
Alex had heard his fair share of strange things in Ancient World, but he had never heard of anyone ever receiving a title that itself was a mystery.
"What the title effects? And when did you acquire it," Alex asked, intrigued to know more about the strange title.
"I acquired it while I was playing with the magic spells, and as for its effects, they are all sealed with no info on how I can open them and also no info on anything else," Sophie said after thinking for a moment.
"The Titles are given by the system when you achieve some milestone, and seeing the unique condition of your title, it should be something special," Alex said, putting a big smile on Sophie's face.
"Big Brother, Do you think it might lead to something special? Like a hidden quest or a unique ability?" Sophie said, with her eyes shining with excitement.
"It's definitely a possibility, but you shouldn't focus on it and just enjoy yourself in the Ancient world," Alex said, happy seeing how enthusiastic his sister was about the ancient world.
As breakfast continued, the conversation shifted to more real-world topics, with the tension of the earlier conversation dissipating.
After a hearty breakfast and heartwarming conversations, Alex's mother left with Sophie to take her to school while his father left shortly after for his work, and Alex returned to his room, ready to return to the ancient world.
