Chapter 259 Old Acquaintances
'The quality and quantity of the items have increased greatly, but so have their price,' Alex thought as he scrolled through the Ruler shop.
After killing hundreds of demons, Alex had completed the first Ruler's Authority promotion mission promoting his Athourity to the first Rank while also completing the second and third mission objectives.
The second and third Ruler's Authority missions' rewards were pending even with their objective of killing demons completed because to further promote his Ruler's Authority, Alex first needed to promote his Domain Connection.
Alex initially felt scammed because he was looking forward to the unknown reward of the third Ruler's Authority mission, but as he could do nothing about it, he quickly moved on.
'Now that I have plenty of Ruler coins, I should quickly make a deal with guilds to milk them of benefits while they work to solve the problems of Malefis Domain,' Alex thought, looking at his coin balance that number closer to 1.14 million.
Alex had first planned to only give a thousand or so Entry Tokens to each of the three guilds he was acquittances with and make them build their place among the peoples of various clans while also making the residents of Malefis Domain get used to them.
Then Alex planned to slowly raise their numbers as he earned more and more ruler coins through their work, but thanks to the early demon invasion, he had earned hefty sums of coins and could start the plan on a much bigger scale than he first planned.
After checking the various new items in the shop, Alex left the hotel to the adventurers guild to collect his reward and then from the empire.
Alex walked through the city, taking in the sight of the bustling streets and the sense of purpose that filled the air.
The devastation caused by the demon invasion was still evident in some areas, but the city had made a remarkable recovery in the short span of time he was away.
Alex could see various groups of craftsmen, magicians, and laborers working together diligently to repair damaged buildings and streets and restore the city's infrastructure.
The streets were bustling with activity as adventurers and players walked around already doing a job or offering their services in exchange for rewards.
The expressions on the faces of the city's residents were a mix of relief and worry. The recent demon invasion had left a deep scar in their hearts, and the fear of another attack lingered.
The city's streets were now filled with a larger number of soldiers, their presence reassuring to some extent but a constant reminder of the recent threat.
The capital had become a haven for wealthy individuals from smaller cities and towns, seeking refuge in its relative safety as they knew that the kingdom's army would prioritize protecting the capital, as it housed the most influential nobles and royals.
The same was true for other major cities, and the influx of people caused the city's population to increase rapidly.
The news of soldiers being deployed around various major cities was met with a mix of relief and concern because while it was a clear sign that the authorities were taking the threat seriously, it also indicated that the possibility of another invasion was very real.
The measures taken by the government brought a sense of calm to the ordinary people, but they also sowed seeds of doubt and anxiety as rumors spread that the news of only a few demons remaining and no new demons arriving was merely lies to suppress the public's fear.
Alex also heard every other individual praising the work of the Chosen Champion guild and the Frozen Flower guild, thanking their members for saving their city from utter destruction, which put a smile on his face knowing his plan worked as he wanted.
Alex strolled through the busy streets before reaching the adventurer guild branch and making his way to the receptionist.
"Greetings, Miss. I am here to receive my honor badge." Alex said as he placed his thunder knight badge on the desk.
The receptionist, a cat demi-human, checked the badge, and her eyes quickly flashed with surprise before her expression returned to normal, caring a bright smile.
"Sir Aeon, Please wait for a moment," The receptionist said before quickly contacting someone using the communication crystal.
"Sir Aeon, She will lead you to the branch head office," The receptionist said, pointing toward a female sproing the desk with quick steps.
"Thanks for your time," Alex said before he walked toward the stairs following his guide.
The lady escorted Alex to the branch head office, and as he entered the room, he was greeted with the chilling cold room and the sight of a breathtaking beauty seated on the sofa at the side of the room in a revealing dress.
"Aeon, take a seat,"
"Aeon, I've heard about your heroic deeds from the guild members who witnessed them, and On behalf of the Adventurer Guild and the thousands of adventurers you saved, I want to express our sincere gratitude." The branch head said, giving Alex a bright smile.
"Lady Elena, thanks for your kind words," Alex replied.
"Aeon, can you hand me your adventurer card so I can give you the reward you have earned with your valiant effort,"
"Lady Elena, I am not an adventurer guild member," Alex replied, keeping his face emotionless.
Alex couldn't hand over his actual adventurer card as it would reveal his true identity, and with him already being a member of the guild, he couldn't just register once again with a second identity because the adventurer guild already had registered his mana signature, but this issue was easily resolved using a single silver grade system wish.
"Then let's make you a member," Lady Elena said, taking out a registration crystal device.
Alex placed his hand on the white crystal, and after a few minutes, the process was completed, and he received a new adventurer guild card with his Rank being directly promoted to B Rank.
"The Rank promotion is a small gift from me, while you can access the reward from the guild using your card, and if you have any questions for me, I am happy to help," Lady Elena said after a moment of silence.
"Thanks for your generosity," Alex said, feeling happy after seeing the number of honor points given in his balance.
After asking some questions about honor points and things he should be aware of, Alex took his leave and left the adventurer guild.
"I thought we were friends, but it hurt my feeling when you vanished without even saying goodbye," A deep and cold voice sounded from Alex right as he exited the building.
'I expected them to approach me, knowing I could vanish again for months,' Alex thought, looking at a man approaching him with a bright smile.
