1146 Candidacy
[You have passed the third round of the Rise to Prominence tournament.]
[As proof of your passing, your title 'Tier II Being' has been upgraded to 'Tier III Being'.]
With him being the only one on the field to have automatically passed the third round, Valyr knew that it was only a matter of time before he'd be given the title he just received.
Though he was slightly curious as to what was changed by the upgrade, the young man decided to push the thought aside for the meantime, considering he already had a good idea of what it could possibly be.
Instead, he shifted his attention towards the notifications that came after, which pretty much confirmed the puppet's death.
[With a 10+ level disparity between the user and the opponent, the amount of experience obtained shall be increased by 200%.]
[You have slain a Level 130 MP-3 Training Android (Mythic Elite). You have gained 15,116,513 XP.]
[The Arbiter Scho'doxa has witnessed your feats and is astounded by them. The Arbiter has decided to increase the XP you've just earned by tenfold.]
Although he was partly expecting to not receive a kill notification due to the nature of the opponent he fought, Valyr also thought that it was possible for him to obtain a kill notification due to the sheer strength of his opponent.
However, what he did not expect was that Scho'doxa would increase the amount of XP he earned from killing the puppet, increasing it from 15 million XP to over 150 million.
'This reminds me of the time when I killed that amalgamation thing back in the Mystic Plane,' inwardly muttered Valyr to himself after calculating his final XP gain, causing him to let out a slight chuckle as he moved onto remaining notifications.
Skipping over the notification that talked about the progress he made in improving [Slayer of Ascendants], the young man was eventually greeted by a pair of notifications that only made him question where it came from.
[The Arbiter Scho'doxa has witnessed your feats and is astounded by them. You have gained their recognition, as well as the recognition of the system.]
[The Arbiter has decided to bestow upon you the title 'Eminence Candidate'.]
Of course, after going over the notifications for a bit, it did not take long for him to obtain the answers to his questions, prompting him to look at Scho'doxa with a raised eyebrow.
Understanding what Valyr wanted to know from his gaze alone, the man gave a slightly wry smile as he explained, "Consider it a token of apology for potentially putting your life on the line. You did fight against a peak Rank 6 being, after all."
Though the man's words did answer the question he had in mind, Valyr felt that there was more to the matter, causing his expression to remain as he looked at Scho'doxa with greater intent.
"You got me." Feeling like he'd been found out, the wry smile on Scho'doxa could only deepen. "If you want an actual answer as to why I gave you that title... call it a small investment."
"An investment... how?" asked Valyr back, commanding the system to bring up the description of his newly obtained title. "Also, what's an Eminence? Is it related to the Galactic Eminence tournament we talked about earlier?"
Ding!
Seeing as Scho'doxa was still pondering over how he'd phrase his explanation, Valyr decided to take a brief glance at the screen he brought up to get a slightly better idea of what he received.
"After that would be the Galactic Eminences, who represent an entire galaxy. Answering your question from earlier, it does have something to do with the tournament you agreed to participate in."
"As for the last tier of Eminence, as well as the highest tier of Eminence, that would be the Cosmic Eminences. They're existences that represent a supercluster of galaxies."
Closing up the screen he brought up, Valyr closed his eyes for a bit before asking Scho'doxa a question. "And they represent these places... why?"
"That's more of a secondary effect to becoming an Eminence, actually," replied Scho'doxa. "In short, becoming an Eminence brings different kinds of benefits to those that reside in the same place as where they come from. Greater lifespan, greater XP gain, and so on and so forth."
"Though, becoming an Eminence mainly allows you to have greater control over the system, generally speaking."
"I see." Though there were still a couple parts where he found the explanation confusing, Valyr more or less understood what the man was trying to say. "Anyways, what do you mean by this being a small investment?"
"It'd be correct to say that it's more of a gamble rather than an investment," clarified Scho'doxa with a slightly wry smile. "Though the reason why I say that is because of the uncertainty I have towards your growth later on."
"If we're talking about this tournament, I have no doubt whatsoever that you'd reach the final round and bag the best combination of rewards possible." The man slightly chuckled at the thought. "On second thought, with the rewards I just gave you, you'll bag a combination that's far better than what's possible."
"But yeah. If nothing goes wrong, I'd say you have a good shot at becoming a true Eminence in the future."
"If anything, I'm just speeding up the process by giving you the title in advance."
"So..." Becoming silent as he listened to the man's explanation, Valyr eventually opened his mouth once more as he looked at Scho'doxa. "You're giving me the title in advance in order for me to have a reason to return the favor if I do become one."
"Is that correct?"
At those words, Scho'doxa could only give the young man a bitter smile in response, which was more than enough for Valyr to know that he hit it right on the mark.
Though he inwardly shook his head at the thought, Valyr also came to the conclusion that it was only a matter of time for him to become an Eminence on his own.
After all, he was confident that he'd achieve the requirements written on the description sooner or later.
'If anything, the only thing stopping me from becoming an Eminence would be the trials,' thought Valyr to himself, eventually deciding to ask Scho'doxa more about it after that.
With Scho'doxa giving him a brief explanation on what the four trials were, the two of them swiftly made their way back to the audience box, only to be greeted by the sight of the third round reaching its climax by the time they arrived.
