Chapter 1201 Manipulating Outcomes

Chapter 1201 Manipulating Outcomes

Of course, it went without saying that Valyr had gotten annoyed at the fact that none of his attacks went through. At the same time, he began to feel curiosity as to how Jekyll was able to do that.

After all, the man directly told him that the skill he obtained would allow him to take a brief glimpse into the future as long as he pushed it to its utmost limits.

With that in mind, the young man could not stop himself from asking a question that more or less summed up what he was feeling.

'With just a skill that pinpoints and creates weak spots, as well as intimidate others with one's aura... how would you go about obtaining the ability of precognition?'

Wanting to find out the answer to this question, the young man reminded himself to not let his anger get the better of him, considering that Jekyll was giving him both a glimpse, as well as firsthand experience on how far he could improve [Warrior's Eyes of Slaughter] if he were to put in the effort.

With that, he took a bit of time to compose himself once more, changing the way he began to look at Jekyll as he decided to approach the current opportunity given to him from a more calculated perspective.

Naturally, Jekyll took note of the change in the young man's demeanor, finding it both slightly interesting and amusing that it only took Valyr a couple of exchanges to get an idea of what was going on.

'I'm sure he'll figure it out sooner or later.'

With those words lingering in his mind, the man stood in place, waiting as he gave Valyr all the time he needed to prepare for his attacks.

...

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

"...Haah." Having already lost count of how many times he attacked Jekyll without any rhyme nor reason, it was only after a couple of hours had passed did Valyr finally get a rough idea of how the man was able to see through his attacks.

'I'm still not sure on the other parts that come into play,' thought the young man to himself, briefly glancing at the man who sat on the bed without much care in the world.

'However, as long as the hypothesis I came up with is mostly correct, then I'll finally be able to land a hit on Jekyll.'

Of course, he had no plans of taking it lying down.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Pushing the skill a bit further than he ever did throughout their entire exchange, the crimson trefoils in Jekyll's eyes glowed once more as he began to shoot down the barrage of punches at a faster rate.

Unfortunately, with Valyr now having an idea of the concept behind his actions, it was no surprise that a few of the punches passed through his skill, all of them landing on his body with as much force as they contained at the start.

"...You could've used less force in your attacks, you know?" Enduring all of the hits that landed on his body, Jekyll soon looked at Valyr with a wry smile as the crimson trefoils in his eyes disappeared. "In any case, I presume you now have an idea of how precognition works with the skill?"

"Well, you did tell me to give it all I got, so I did," said Valyr in response to the man's question.

After that, he let out a slightly exasperated sigh as he proceeded onto the next question. "Anyways, would you even really consider that precognition?"

"In a way." Jekyll nodded, grinning at his ingenuity. "If you could limit the number of attacks you receive and defend or avoid against them with great ease, would that not be the same as precognition?"

"I'd consider it more as a method that would allow you to better defend yourself, honestly," replied Valyr, telling Jekyll his perspective on the matter. "After all, precognition allows you to see the future in any scenario, not just in combat."

"...No need to be so pedantic," answered Jekyll with a sigh, causing Valyr to let out a chuckle as he thought back to the final attack they exchanged.

Fortunately, his hypothesis on how Jekyll's 'precognition' worked was correct, allowing him to nullify some of its effects to an extent in order for him to land a couple of attacks.

Although he was still unsure on a couple of the specifics, the young man was certain that most of the work being done behind making 'precognition' a reality was the aura one let out through the skill, letting fear and terror reign over their minds rather than logic and rationality.

Then, with their decisions more limited thanks to the change in thought, one would then use the skill to create vital spots on the opponent's bodies, which would combine with the aura to make them think twice while they were already attacking.

'Truly the essence of the skill taken to a greater level,' thought Valyr to himself, slightly chuckling at the thought of how Jekyll's 'precognition' was just making use of the ability of creating vital spots from another perspective.

Then again, if something like that was even possible...

What was the limit?
