Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Furies
For the second time that day, Alex activated his domain, but with the limitless supply of energy supporting him, he felt no fatigue. His condition remained at peak levels. Especially now that the Platinum Wings of the Unknown had upgraded, giving him a 100% increase in power, allowing his domain's range to expand even further, now encompassing the entire planet of Apokolips.
He smiled faintly, then casually flicked his finger forward. Space slashes from his Infinity instantly covered all the Parademons. In a single moment, Parademons across the entire planet were sliced to death by an infinite number of space slashes!
Exerting his power on such a vast number of Parademons at once was a considerable burden for Alex, so he took a moment to adjust his breathing, preparing to launch another attack. But suddenly, the surrounding space began to tremble. Alex sensed a special energy pulse emanating from the heart of the city, disrupting the space around him and neutralizing his Unlimited Void.
Apokolips' energy core had shut down its energy supply to other areas, focusing all its power on releasing a strange energy surge that barely managed to neutralize Alex's domain.
Apokolips was the second most technologically advanced planet in the universe, second only to New Genesis. Its energy core was incredibly powerful, comparable to the combined power of three Mother Boxes.
However, despite its immense energy reserves, its energy level was far below Alex's. Thus, it was still no match for him.
Inside one of the laboratories in the core palace of Apokolips, Desaad, looking anxious, issued urgent commands:
"Quickly, stop him from breaking through the energy disruption system! If he adapts to the interference and releases the power he used earlier, Apokolips will be destroyed in no time!"
As Darkseid's chief scientific advisor, Desaad had achieved countless accomplishments throughout his life. He managed many of Apokolips' high-tech systems and created the Parademon army that instilled fear throughout the universe.
In the long years of conquest, he had always been the aggressor, the one inflicting pain. But today, the tables had turned, and he was the victim.
A single human from Earth had used some sort of teleportation technique to arrive on Apokolips. Initially, Desaad thought little of it, assuming the Earthling was just courting death. But when this human single-handedly deployed an energy field that covered the entire planet, Desaad finally felt fear deep in his soul!
In an instant, countless Parademons were slaughtered by unknown space slashes, leaving none behind!
If not for his quick response in using the city's defense systems to counteract the energy field and neutralize it, Apokolips could have been destroyed by that Earthling!
Just the thought of it made his body tremble uncontrollably. What kind of being was this? Could he truly be from Earth?
Desaad shouted at the top of his lungs to those around him:
"Dr. Bedlam, why haven't you been able to control that Earthling's mind?"
"I... I don't know..." Dr. Bedlam stammered, his face pale. He had been trying with all his might to control the Earthling's mind, but to his despair, he couldn't even sense the Earthling's consciousness!
Dr. Bedlam was one of the most powerful telepaths in the universe, capable of controlling the minds of entire planets' populations. But against this Earthling, his abilities seemed completely ineffective—he couldn't even detect his presence.
If he hadn't been able to sense the minds of the surrounding laboratory staff, he would have thought his powers had failed entirely.
"I can't... I can't sense his will at all, let alone control him..." Dr. Bedlam stammered.
"What?" Desaad was in disbelief. Could that Earthling truly be this powerful, even mentally?
Even Darkseid himself was vulnerable to Dr. Bedlam's abilities!
Things were even worse than he had imagined, but Desaad forced himself to stay calm. Using the communicator, he relayed another order:
They smiled in triumph, believing that their weapons, which could pierce anything, had surely pierced Alex's body. But to their shock, the weapons hadn't even torn through his clothes!
The kinetic energy of their weapons had been absorbed before they even touched him.
Of course, even without using energy absorption, Alex could have used Vector Manipulation to deflect the attacks. And even if he had allowed them to strike, their supposedly invincible weapons would have been unable to pierce his steel-like body.
Perhaps his clothes would have been slightly damaged, but the nanite symbiote would have immediately repaired them.
Alex blasted both women away with a wave of force and instinctively touched his side and crotch. Though they hadn't hurt him, he still felt a phantom ache from their attacks.
"I know you envy Catwoman and the others. After all, Darkseid's too weak. But going after my 'precious' is where you went wrong. If you hurt me, how will Catwoman and the others cope?"
Seeing that the remaining Furies were still glaring at him with stern expressions, showing no remorse and not even bothering to apologize, Alex was annoyed. Fine, it was time to finish them off.
In an instant, a purple imaginary sphere formed in his hand, transforming into a long, delicate sword. With a swift motion, he extended the blade, slicing through all the remaining Furies in a single stroke.
"Ahh!"
Unlike mortals, the Furies reacted to Alex's attack, but his strike was too fast for them to avoid. All they could do was wait for death.
Several Furies had their heads split in two, losing consciousness instantly. Only Gilotina, dressed in white, had her head severed cleanly from her body, leaving her mind still active.
Alex grabbed her severed head, holding it aloft as blood poured from her neck. Her headless body squirmed, trying to regenerate itself.
If left unchecked, and with the help of others, Gilotina might have been able to regenerate. But she wouldn't get the chance.
Ignoring her insults, Alex tightened his grip. Black-and-red lightning crackled through his hand, and Gilotina's head disintegrated into nothingness.
As the blood around him evaporated, Alex looked off into the distance. The giants had been destroyed, and so had the elite forces. Now, it was time to deal with the little bosses.
At that moment, a massive energy cannon at the heart of the city began to glow with a blinding light. It had finished charging, and the next moment, a colossal energy beam, tens of meters wide, shot toward Alex.
Desaad, watching from the laboratory, stared intensely at the screen, praying that the beam would kill Alex or, at the very least, severely injure him. If not, he was out of options...
When the dust cleared, the image on the monitor froze everyone in stunned silence.
Alex was standing there, his outstretched hand effortlessly blocking the beam.
No, he wasn't just blocking it—he was absorbing the energy completely.
