The next day, Wan Jia received an email from Mr. Jung. That was the man they would be meeting for the negotiation. His message was that their appointment date had been pushed to the next day. Su Ling had received the same email.
"It's not too big of a deal. We can just switch plans. Walk around today and meet him tomorrow." Su Ling said.
"That's not a problem." Wan Jia still had a deep frown on her forehead.
"Then why do you still looked displeased?"
Wan Jia smirked. "I don't think Mr. Jung would postpone an appointment with Lu Enterprises just one hour to the meeting time. If he did that, he wouldn't have given Aotian any face."
"You think he sent the emails wrongly? That he mistakenly wanted to send them to other people and sent to us accidentally?"
"I don't think he sent any mail." Wan Jia said sternly.
"Huh?"
Wan Jia read the emails over with certainty. "If he really wanted to cancel the appointment, he would have sent the email to Aotian. He doesn't know that we are here as representatives. He doesn't even know us in first place. Also, sending the same message to both of us is what someone would do to make the message more believable. This is definitely a trick. A very lowly and cheap one for that matter."
Mr. Jung's assistant would never know that his trick had been uncovered by Wan Jia within just a few minutes. That was right, he was the sender of those emails.
He wanted this huge deal to be given to his friend's company but with Lu Enterprises trying to get it, his wish was impossible. By sending such an email, he would make Lu Enterprises late for negotiation. Mr. Jung hated tardiness and would not wait for them. He would immediately seal the deal with his friend's family's company.
In Wan Jia's suite, she still had many questions in her mind. "I asked Aotian just now and this is Mr. Jung's valid email address. There should be only few people who can access it. His assistant or secretary, perhaps? I wonder how on earth they knew about us being the company's representatives."
"Someone must have informed him." Su Ling analyzed.
"I guess there's another mole at the company." Though she found it strange. Was that mole related to Lu Enterprises' rivals?
"Are you going to tell President Lu about it? How about we just go ahead to the meeting as planned? That way we will disappoint the traitor and have a chance to know who they are." Su Ling suggested.
Wan Jia took a box from her luggage and smiled. "We're going to give Mr. Jung a present." This would be their way of finding out who the traitor on Mr. Jung's side was. As for the meeting, they would pretend to not have figured out the other party's scheme.
"That's an even better idea."
Wan Jia and Su Ling left the hotel as though they were clueless of someone trying to sabotage them. They were meeting Mr. Jung in Weilan Corp.
When they left the elevator, they bumped into someone familiar.
"Kara?"
"Mrs. Xu?"
Kara was surprised to see them too. She gave them a warm smile. "Hello. What are the both of you doing here? Su Ling, you don't have to be so formal with me. Just call me Kara."
Wan Jia eyed the documents in Kara's hands. "Are you here for business?"
"Uh huh. My meeting just ended."
"I see. We should hurry to our meeting. See you later, maybe?" She forced a smile and pulled Su Ling with her along the corridor.
As soon as they were out of Kara's earshot, they exchanged worried looks.
"Please don't tell me we're here for the same business deal?" Su Ling said.
"Okay, I won't tell you." Wan Jia looked like she had just given up. "If we're going against Kara, it's not going to be easy. Business is her forte!"
Su Ling was nervous too but she shrugged her shoulders. "So what if business is her forte? We should give it a try."
"Of course."
Behind them, Kara wondered whether what she saw in their eyes when she said that she was here for a business meeting was panic. Could it be that they were here for Lu Enterprises, to negotiate the same deal?
...
Wan Jia and Su Ling stuck to their plan. When they met Mr. Jung, Wan Jia's role would be to distract him while Su Ling kept an eye for any suspicious person.
"Good morning Mr. Jung." Wan Jia and Su Ling both greeted politely.
"Are you those two representatives from Lu Enterprises?" The man asked with a hint of displeasure in his tone.
When Wan Jia heard him, she guessed the traitor from his side must have already said bad things about them.
"We are." She still said.
The man's frown deepened even further. "You girls may go back. I'll have a word with Mr. Lu later." His hostility was obvious. Just what had he been told?
Wan Jia didn't look offended. She took out the palm-sized box. It was meant to be given after signing the contract but she had to change the plan. "We can only go back after completing this very important task."
Mr. Jung wondered whether they were trying to bribe their way into the deal.
"Mr. Jung, this is Lu Enterprises' perfume. It's one of the oldest and most valuable masterpieces called Noble. President Lu was right. It would suit you perfectly."
The man's displeasure flew out of the window. A perfume from Lu Enterprises?
