However, the man became more sharp tongued and continued hurling insults that ruined his image as an elder.
Wan Jia retrieved the document she had asked Carla to type earlier and gave it to him. "Old Master Zhang, read through this document and sign it. I believe there are no issues."
When he read through the document, he was so furious that he almost spat a mouthful of blood. "You…you! What's the meaning of this?"
Wan Jia explained casually. "That's a share transfer contract. Since you want to sell your shares so much, you may as well sell them to me. I'm ready to buy them. After all 3dollars is very affordable. Such a nice deal, who would let it go?"
As if not minding the elder master that was seething in rage, she continued explaining the origin of the 3 dollars she was talking about. "Old Master Zhang offered the shares for a cup of coffee. In the employees' restaurant on your left, a cup of coffee costs 3 dollars."
The young secretaries watching at the side giggled secretly. Although they were scared of laughing aloud, their shoulders vibrated.
The elder master exploded. "Such impudence! How dare you!"
Wan Jia didn't look remorseful. "I'm not trying to dupe you. The employees' restaurant is just thirty meters to your left. If you wish, I can call the restaurant manager here and he will prove that I'm not lying."
Her increasingly innocent tone made him more incensed. He really wanted to strangle her and send her to hell. "How can you want to buy shares at the same price as a cup of coffee? Are you a fool?"
Wan Jia widened her eyes innocently. "Wasn't it Old Master Zhang himself who said this? Have you already forgotten about it? If you can't remember, you don't have to worry. There are security cameras and although they don't capture voices, there are many people who can read lips."
She continued, even more innocently, "Besides, many people heard you. Surely that's enough to remind you, right?"
Old Master Zhang couldn't hold it anymore. "Can't you use your brain? If I'm selling the shares, I'm selling them at the right price."
Wan Jia held a hand over her mouth. "I didn't know Old Master Zhang was a person who didn't keep his word. But since that's the case then…I have nothing to say. It's alright, I can still afford the normal price."
Before letting him slither out of it, she spoke again. "You said that if you didn't see President Lu right now, you would sell your shares. President Lu can't come before one week ends. Doesn't that mean you have to sell them? Or could it be that Old Master Zhang already had someone ready to buy and was only causing a ruckus to find a suitable excuse?"
She had totally pushed him to a tight spot. He couldn't weave his way out of it and if he blatantly refused, who knew what this woman would say to Lu Aotian? She was right about him having a ready buyer.
He had already been informed by that person that Lu Aotian had booked a flight to leave the country. So, he had to cause a ruckus using his name and since they couldn't satisfy his request, he would sell his shares without having to take the blame for anything. He could simply make up a story of how one of his family members needed a lot of money for a surgery and he wanted to sell the shares to Lu Aotian but since he couldn't find him, he had to sell them to someone else.
However, who would have thought that this Wan Jia who looked too pretty to know anything would be this hard to deal with?
Wan Jia's voice filled the air again. "Old Master Zhang, could you sign the document? The money will be transferred to you as soon as the contract is validated."
Left with no choice, he wrote his name on the document and signed. Wan Jia didn't want to actually snatch the shares away from him, so she transferred the deserved amount of money.
Old Master Zhang left the building, his back exuding an aura of being miserable.
Something flashed in Wan Jia's eyes. Did she go too far?
She dismissed the secretaries to go back to work and followed the elderly man outside.
When he saw that she had followed him, he wasn't pleased. "What? You want to jeer at me and shove in the fact that you won?"
Wan Jia felt her heart ache. This was an elder. If that had been his nature for all those years, he would have been kicked out of Lu Enterprises ages ago. For him to flare up and cause such chaos, she felt something else was going on. "No. I just want to say, if you are being threatened, we can help you."
He didn't spare her a glance, entering his car and asking the chauffeur to drive off.
Of course he was being threatened. Or else, with the number of years he had been a partner and shareholder of Lu Enterprises, how would he do any of those things he just did?
His little Shishi, his only granddaughter, was being held hostage. Since he didn't manage to sell his shares to that person, what would happen to her?
The worst part of it was that he didn't know who that person was. They only contacted him a few hours after his little Shishi had been kidnapped from her college. She would be safe as long as he did as he was ordered.
However, he couldn't use his own power to find out where she was, let alone save her. Although he wasn't nearly half as powerful as anyone from the Lu family, what could such a little woman as Wan Jia do to help him? He would only put her life in danger if he asked her for help.
