Chapter 393 - Be obedient and not court trouble

When Wan Jia went back to Lu Aotian's office, she wanted to make sure that everything else was in order before going out. Looking at her phone, she realized that Lu Aotian had sent her a message an hour ago. That should be the time before he boarded. 

Beforehand, she had already offered to temporarily step in for him. His message one hour ago was to remind her to not overwork herself and most importantly, to be obedient and not court trouble. 

The little secretary Carla delivered a stack of documents that needed to be signed. Since she was the president's wife, she could check and sign them on his behalf. 

The next time she brought in documents, she noticed that Wan Jia looked like a lot of things were going on on her mind. 

Gathering her courage, she asked shyly, "Madam, are you feeling upset? Shall I bring you a glass of milk?" 

Wan Jia wanted to turn it down and ask for coffee instead but milk was indeed a better option for her. "Yes, thank you." 

The secretary happily went out. She was shy just now because if the person sitting in that office was Lu Aotian, she wouldn't dare to ask such a question.

If she wasn't reporting a work matter, running office errands or answering his questions, she was required to shut her mouth and stay far away from him. 

There had been many other secretaries before her and they lasted only a few days. There was even one who tried to seduce him on her first day of work and was fired before she managed to work in Lu Enterprises for half a day.

In actual fact, he had decided to do away with all female employees near the main office. 

It was just her luck that she was not only intelligent and efficient, she had been recommended by the CEO of her former company as well. Of course, the most important point was that she was married and had a stable family. If not, she would never have been employed by Lu Aotian. 

Thanks to her diligence and desire to keep her job, President Lu had never found any fault in her and she was able to work for him for this long.

A few minutes later, she delivered a glass of milk to Wan Jia. "Madam, here's your milk." 

Wan Jia thanked her and continued looking at the documents. 

She was more calm after drinking the milk, but there was still trouble in her heart. 

Old Master Zhang was a former shareholder of Lu Enterprises. However, his business relations with Lu Enterprises had yet to be nullified. If anything were to threaten his life because of Lu Enterprises, wasn't it the company's responsibility to protect him? 

If anything happened to him, not only might the blame befall the company, the person who was threatening Old Master Zhang would in fact use it against Lu Enterprises. For some outsiders, this might seem like a petty case but for multibillion companies like Lu Enterprises, it was huge. 

There were countless people waiting for the fall of this company and trying to find fault with it. If any little thing happened, it would be blown out of proportion. Of course, since this would be a deliberate form of slander, the orchestrator wouldn't let the matter end if it didn't ruin Lu Enterprises' reputation. If at that point Lu Aotian tried to control the public, it would only make the matter more serious.

Although Old Master Zhang dismissed her earlier when she offered to help him, she still had a nagging instinct that something was wrong. 

She pressed on a button and Carla rushed in. "Madam, you called for me." 

"I'm sorry to trouble you." 

"It's no trouble at all. This is part of my job." 

"What kind of person is Old Master Zhang?" Wan Jia qestioned. 

Carla wasn't expecting this kind of question from Wan Jia but she coughed and answered. "Well, aside from today, he has always been straight foward and never makes unnecessary trouble. The President and Vice President have quite a good impression of him. From the past records that I've seen, he seemed to have a good relationship with Elder Master Lu as well. " 

"So, what do you think about today's incident?" 

Since the madam wanted her opinion, she could only be honest. "If I may be audacious to say, I think someone put him up to it. This was so unlike him." 

"Thanks, you may go back." 

When Carla left, she made a call to Lu Aotian's assistant. "Help me investigate Old Master Zhang. Also, send a few bodyguards to protect him." 

Cheng Bai didn't understand Wan Jia's instructions, but since he already had a file on Old Master Zhang, he sent it to Lu Aotian's office. 

The old man's family was quite simple. His son and daughter-in-law were both working overseas. They had left their daughter, Shishi in Old Master Zhang's care and rarely went back home. Although it was none of her business, Wan Jia had the urge to scold them with her hands on her hips. How could they not pay their own daughter a visit even once?

That wasn't the main point. According to Cheng Bai's report, Shishi was in college. Perhaps she had been used to threaten Old MZhang? 

She would talk to Lu Aotian about it when he was not busy later.

She was finally at ease and left Lu Aotian's office. 

"Madam, are you leaving? The CEO of QT would like to have a meeting with you."Carla reported. 

She wanted to leave but fine, it was just one meeting. "Set up all other meetings for tomorrow. If there's anything that needs my urgent attention, you can give me a call." 

"No worries, madam."

After her meeting with the CEO of QT, she finally went to her office to check on the progress of her brand stores, then she went to the Lin residence.
