Chapter 542 - You don't stand half a chance against her

Lu Meili grabbed his hand that was on her head and shoved it away in disdain. "You ruined my hairstyle! I spent a lot of time making it. What do you take me for, a pet?"

Xu Tang tapped her nose. "I wouldn't mind. You're so cute anyway, such a pet wouldn't be half bad." 

"Go go. Or else, I will be tempted to kill you." 

Xu Tang left, leaving her to dance on her own. 

Though at some point she wondered, she only appeared in Xu Corporation and went to his office. How did Xu Tang know that she was going to audition for 'Dancer of the year'? And how did he know that she needed someone to help her? She didn't tell him that. 

Thinking of a possibility, a smile crept onto her lips. Was he paying more attention to her?

Xu Tang hurried to Xu Corporation. "What happened?" He asked his assistant with a sense of urgence. The man had only said that there was an emergency at the company and didn't explain what exactly was going on. For some reason, he felt irritated by his assitant's behavior. 

"C-CEO, Miss Lan came to your office and couldn't find you. She..." 

Before he could finish his statement, the troublemaker Annie Lan rushed out to Xu Tang. "Xu, how could your assistant be so rude? I only asked when you would come back. How could he tell me that I'm a worthless sl*t trying to seduce you?" 

The assistant was shocked. "What? She's lying!" 

Annie Lan looked like she had been wronged. "Forget about it. He must have been angry because I was too insistent." 

Xu Tang was momentarily lost in thought. Han had been his assitant for three years and he had learnt his character already. Although he would always speak his mind bluntly, he didn't seem  capable of hurling such a humiliating insult at a woman. At the same time, Annie looked too innocent to lie. 

"Han, go back to work. Annie, follow me."

Annie followed him to a private chamber. "Xu," 

Xu Tang turned to look at her. "Annie, I hate it when people lie to me."

Annie Lan understood the implication of his words. He had seen through her lie. She bit her lip, her eyes looking quite pitiful. "I'm sorry. He didn't want to let me into your office to wait for you and had me stand in the lobby. I was only trying to teach him a lesson." 

Xu Tang's expression eased when he saw how sad she looked. He couldn't stand it. "Don't do it again, okay? If I believed you just now, I would have fired him. That would be too unfair for such a hardworking man." 

"Mn. I won't do it again." 

He brought her a glass of orange juice. "Alright. Why did you come to look for me?" 

Annie Lan took a small sip and looked at him timidly. "I'm going to audition for the female lead role of 'Dancer of the year'. However, I'm not too good in dancing. Can you please teach me?" 

Xu Tang found it funny. "If you think you can't dance, why would you go to audition for such a role?" 

The girl looked like he was being heartless. "My agency wants me to go." 

Xu Tang creased his eyebrows. Why did these circumstances sound familiar? 

"Xu, you are very good in dancing. If you teach me a little, I will surely pass the auditions." 

Xu Tang sighed. "Even if I taught you twenty four hours every day for seven days, you wouldn't pass." 

Annie Lan, whose hope had been shattered, widened her eyes. "Why would you say such a thing?" 

Xu Tang was honest with her. "Because Lu Meili is auditioning for the same role. You don't stand half a chance against her." 

Although she knew this, Annie Lan still felt disheartened. "But all these years, I have never seen Lu Meili dance. Can she even twist her body?"

Xu Tang clearly felt the sadness in her tone. "Well..." 

"Can you not be too close to her?" 

Xu Tang took a deep breath. "Okay." Although Lu Meili was his best friend, she was a woman and she was in love with him. It wouldn't be nice if he spent too much time with her. Not only would Annie be unhappy about it, Lu Meili might also get the wrong impression. 

"I have to go somewhere right now. I'll contact you later." He said after some time. 

Without a doubt, Annie Lan knew that he was going back to Lu Meili. "Can you take me with you?" 

"I can't." 

Annie Lan didn't throw a tantrum. He was probably going to tell Lu Meili to keep her distance. 

She gave a sly smile. Nation's best actress of all time, huh?
