Chapter 572 - Do I look happy?

"Come in." Henry Blanc led her in. Why was she acting all strange?

By the time she was done, Katy looked like she was on the verge of collapsing. It was a surprise that she hadn't fainted yet.

Henry Blanc remained silent for an agonizing amount of time.

Katy didn't know whether to say something, remain silent, leave or stay.

"I'm sorry." Although she said this, she knew that no matter how many 'sorry's she said, it would never make up for what happened. Her brother would never be back.

"I want to be alone." The man said hoarsely. He was trying to keep his anger in check. If she remained within his vicinity, he was not sure what he would do.

Minutes after Katy left, Lin Lihua suddenly found her strange. When she left, why did she look helpless? Could it be…

She rushed upstairs to Henry Blanc's room and when she saw that cold scene, she knew that she was too late.

"Didn't I tell you to not tell him?"

Katy didn't look at her. "If I didn't, I would be guilty forever. I will handle whatever punishment both of you decide on. I'm sorry mother."

Lin Lihua watched her leave before walking up to him. "Henry…"

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"You would be sad. I didn't want that."

"Now that you both kept it to yourselves for years, do you think I'm happy? Lihua, do I look happy to you?"

Lin Lihua put her hand on his shoulder with a sigh. "It's in the past. The past is gone too. Besides, I just did the same thing to her."

Henry Blanc's fists were clenched. "That's not enough. I'll make her pay for every single thing she did to us."

In hospital, Ruoxi spent all her time crying and cursing. "Lin Lihua, that b*tch! How could she do this to me?"

The attending nurse had an interesting expression. Wasn't this the eldest miss of the Blanc family?

"Miss, why would you curse your foster mother that bitterly? She brought you up."

Ruoxi burst into hysterical cries. "Brought me up? That b*tch caused my baby's death. I hate her! I hate her with all my life. How could she poison my water to make me have a miscarriage? She is a murderer! That's what she is."

She had called Neil earlier and told him that she had lost the baby. For some reason, however, Neil didn't spare her any time. He simply hung up and didn't speak to her again.

What was happening? Why was everything turning against her?

The next morning, Lin Lihua woke up to a weird piece of news.

[Lin Lihua causes foster daughter's miscarriage and abandons her.] Crazy details popped up about how she had wanted to use Ruoxi for her own advantage and when she didn't get what she wanted, she tried to kill Ruoxi.

"Of course she would try to use public opinion against me." She harrumphed.

As expected, reporters were waiting at the entrance of HL Entertainment to question her. 

"CEO Lin, what do you have to say about your foster daughter's accusation?"

"CEO Lin, is it true that you caused her miscarriage?"

They stormed her with questions as soon as they saw her.

Seeing that she was silent, their words turned nasty. "Does your silence mean yes?"

She was finally irked. "Why do I have to answer you?"

"This is our job. We are here to fight for justice and you are obliged to answer the questions we ask."

"Adopted children are quite pitiful."

"Women like you will put on acts and go to orphanages in the name of adopting children and helping the government raise them. But as soon as they are yours, you use them for your own benefit. They are truly pitiful." A reporter condemned.

Lin Lihua wasn't fazed. She was used to this. "You want me to say something, don't you? What I have to say is that you lot are stupid."

"Huh?" The reporters were taken aback. Did she dare to insult them?

"Only a stupid person would report news that has not been verified. Aren't you scared that when my innocence is proven, I will sue you for defamation?"

This shut them up. They had only found a voice recording or Ruoxi cursing online and used its content to question her. There was still a chance that it was lie.

She wasn't done yet. "Someone has the audacity to insult the woman who raised her, yet you have the audacity to appear before me in the name of fighting for justice? What kind of justice are you fighting for?

You say that adopted children are pitiful? On what grounds do you say that? Do you have any evidence to prove that I have bullied Ruoxi and caused her miscarriage?"

She took her phone and posted two videos. "Check your phones. After this, tell me if you still find her pitiful."

The first one was a collection of many short videos of her and Ruoxi hugging, playing together, cooking or shopping. In fact, most of them were of the whole family. One could clearly tell that she was being treated quite nicely.

In the second video, Ruoxi was on a phone call. Her voice was quite clear. "Kill Katy? Probably not. That b*tch is still useful for now… who else will take the blame once I ruin the Blanc family?"

It was only a tiny part. However, it made it obvious that while the Blanc family had treated Ruoxi as their own, she harbored malice towards them.

The reporters were all speechless.

Lin Lihua glowered at them. "You are a shame to all reporters."

She walked into the building gracefully. She was not yet started, and Ruoxi was giving up already? Ruoxi should be prepared to have a fate worse than she could ever imagine.

Meanwhile, Katy was the most nervous person in the Blanc family. As soon as she saw Henry Blanc heading out, she was at a loss. Normally, they would go to work together since they worked in the same company. Would he give her a ride today too, or should she drive herself?
