Xia Rou wasn't as weak as Yun Xuan imagined her to be. She picked up the little cutie and kissed his cheeks. "My Little Feng missed me as well."
The boy was happy from the kisses. He imitated Xia Rou and 'kissed' her cheek, but he bit her instead because he didn't know how to do it.
Xia Rou's heart melted into a puddle. "How can you be so cute? Grandma will cook you something delicious."
"Aunty doesn't have eyes for me anymore. She only cares about her Little Feng." Yun Xuan said, jealous but proud that her son was able to steal a heart.
The boy pursed his lips, looking at Xia Rou happily. "A…a…" He couldn't pronounce aunty clearly, so he kept blabbering ah-ah-ah sounds."
"How cute. He's trying to imitate his mother." Lin Lihua couldn't keep her eyes off the little cutie.
Well, whenever he was near Xia Rou, he would be so cute that it made one wonder whether he was still the little troubleshooter he usually was.
"Aunty, I brought you some tonics." Yun Xuan gave the plastic bag she had to Lin Lihua.
"You don't have to trouble yourself. It was just a little weakness and I'm alright now."
Although this was what Xia Rou said, she was in fact very happy that Yun Xuan cared about her.
"It's no trouble. As long as you're healthy. Aunty, you should be more careful."
"See? Even Xuanxuan thinks so. I think I should just lock you up." Lin Lihua went along.
"Can you girls not attack me like this?"
"Of course we will." The new voice didn't come from within. The women both looked over towards the entrance. Even the little cutie playing in Xia Rou's arms looked over curiously with his bright eyes.
The newcomer was Wan Jia.
"Wanwan, don't you have to attend a meeting?" Xia Rou asked when she saw that her daughter had come over too.
"If I attended that meeting, I wouldn't know about you fainting." Wan Jia said hi to the three of them before shooting Lin Lihua a displeased look. "Sis, how could you not tell me that mother was unwell?"
Lin Lihua didn't bat an eyelid. "I was afraid you would leave your work and rush over immediately. It was nothing to worry too much about in the end, so don't be too angry with me."
She stuck out her hands to touch the little baby in Wan Jia's arms. She was smaller than most kids of her age.
When Xia Rou set her eyes on her youngest granddaughter, she carefully put Yun Feng down. "Let me hold her a little."
Wan Jia passed Lu Xian Li over.
Xia Rou's face revealed an even happier smile. "My granddaughter is getting more beautiful by the day."
"Waaaah!" A scream suddenly filled the air, startling the tiny girl in Xia Rou's arms.
When Yun Feng saw his Grandma Xia put him down to hug another baby, he was fitful. A fountain of tears soaked his little face quickly.
The women burst into laughter. "What a jealous little thing."
"Boo hoo…" Yun Feng continued to cry, his tiny arms reaching out to grab onto Xia Rou's clothes. He wouldn't calm down even when his mother held him.
"If he didn't look so much like me, I would think he is your son instead." Yun Xuan laughed. What did this little devil see in Xia Rou exactly?
In the end, Xia Rou had to give Lu Xian Li back to Wan Jia and coax the little boy.
Happy now, he stuck out his tongue, making faces at Lu Xian Li.
The adults once again burst into laughter. Did he really think Lu Xian Li would understand what he was up to?
…
Yun Xuan felt awkward in Wan Jia's presence. She always had. "I'll get going now. I have something to tend to right now." She took the little devil from Xia Rou's arms, earning a scream from him.
"Eer…"
He didn't want his mother now?
Xia Rou looked even happier. She liked spending time with the little boy. "Why don't you leave him here? You can pick him up on your way back. "
"Well…" Yun Xuan felt conflicted, stealing a glance at Wan Jia.
"You don't have to worry about me. I'm leaving soon." Wan Jia of course understood what Yun Xuan must be thinking about.
"Little Wan doesn't mind." Xia Rou added. "Actually, it must be hard to walk around with him all day. If you want to go somewhere and can't go with him, you can bring him here to play."
"Or you could simply move in. Little Wan and I are both married and mother must be very lonely. Since she loves you and Yun Feng, and you live on your own too, you could stay together and keep each other company." Lin Lihua understood that Yun Xuan couldn't move back to the Yun mansion because of her brothers, and because she was afraid Tyler would find her whereabouts easily.
"Shouldn't you all hate me? Why do you treat me and my son so well?" Yun Xuan looked down guiltily. Wasn't Xia Rou once Madam Yun's rival? Most importantly, "The Yun family wronged you guys so much and… I also wronged you. Why don't you hate me?"
Lin Lihua's heart ached for this pitiful woman. "Xuanxuan, everything the Yuns did has nothing to do with you. As for the misunderstandings between you and Little Wan, surely you have paid enough for that."
She had suffered so much that if there was anything she had done wrong the past, it should be forgotten already.
"Prisons exist to make sure criminals become better people once they are set free. You have already become a better person and are so selfless. Why else should we blame you?" Wan Jia went along, shocking Yun Xuan to the core.
"You think so?"
"Yes. I hold nothing against you for the record." Of course, the main point was that she was the woman Lin Ye liked. Would she start hating him for liking the woman she had once bickered with?
"Then…can we be friends again?" Yun Xuan asked, nervously taking a mile after being given an inch.
