Chapter 230 230: Absorption Talent

The spell [Drifting Wind] instead of boosting the user's speed is more appropriate to say that they were being pushed in the direction that they want. As such, that user could only move in a straight line

As for the [Blessing of the Wind], although the user's speed wouldn't be as fast as when they use [Drifting Wind], they still have more versatility and they could move in any direction they want

Casting the [Drifting Wind] spell on another person to instantly caught up to Rezen while using the [Blessing of the Wind] to catch up to Rezen while he was tied up fighting against another mage is definitely a splendid move

This tactic definitely would work on most enemies but unfortunately, Rezen is not included in that category

Rezen stretched his hands out as he created two magic circles at once

"[Metal Bullets!]"

Rezen casts the same spell twice, one to his front and one to his back. One of his magic circles actually materializes on the metal wall and the wall is distorted and broken into smaller pieces. They turned into metal bullets that attacked his target

"You think that this would work?" One of the two said and with the help of his speed-boosting spell - [Blessing of the Wind], he tried to dodge the metal bullets while casting yet another spell

However, he seems to have underestimated Rezen's willingness to play dirty

Instead of targeting the mage itself, what Rezen did was target the Resonance Gem!

He doesn't have his recovery pills that could help him maintain his peak in battles but in this realm, there is no Mystic Gem and only Resonance Gems that he could destroy with magic

Without the Resonance Gem, an apprentice mage would lose access to magic

Without being able to use magic, even if these tribal people have greater physical strength than the earthlings, to a mage at the peak of the apprentice rank, they are still nothing

The [Metal Bullets] directed to the mage that was boosted by the [Drifting Wind] earlier only bought Rezen some time

After all, Rezen only casts the [Metal Bullets] one time while his opponent casts it twice but it doesn't matter much

Since the [Metal Boots] spell was still active, although Rezen's speed was not as fast as a wind-type mage, he is still faster than a mage that lose access to magic

As such, Rezen quickly moved behind the tribesman that got his Resonance Gem destroyed

"Stop! Don't come closer!" The tribesman said but why would Rezen listen to him?

With the aid of superior speed, Rezen succeeded in landing a brutal punch on that tribesman's stomach

"Aahhkk!!" He groaned in pain while holding his stomach when he suddenly sensed someone holding his neck

Unfortunately, before he could try to remove Rezen's hand from his neck, it was already too late. The [Wind Bullets] that his own brother casts earlier became the cause of his death as Rezen turned him into his meatshield

With that, another person was killed and with the number of enemies lessened, Rezen succeeded in killing this four-man team

He didn't even give Jenna and the others the chance to be of help as he killed the targets all by himself

Whether it be in fighting skills or magical skills, Rezen is clearly above normal!

Waterside Tribe

"La la la la la ~" Rezen hummed as he sent threads of mana to the seed potatoes buried in the soil

Since he has regained his magic, he now has free control over his mana. Naturally, if he has free time, he would use his mana to expedite the growth of the potatoes on the potato farm since this is what would sustain the tribe's expansion

It has been two days since a tribesman from the Waterside Tribe was attacked maliciously by a member of the Metal Sword Tribe and it has also been two days since Rezen regained his magic

Only now did Rezen have the time to use his mana for the potatoes' growth since he was busy enacting the plan to deal with the Metal Sword Tribe

With the nourishment of Rezen's mana, the potatoes grew at a speed visible to the eye. Unfortunately, maybe because his mana has not transformed deeply yet but he could only expedite the growth of potatoes in a small area. He cannot turn all the seeds on the farm into mature potatoes in a single move or day

At the very least, Rezen would need more than a week but the harvest is definitely more than enough to sustain the tribe

"Rezen, you're here! Teach me more metal magic! It's hard but I want to be stronger!" Borsus said as soon as he saw Rezen

Two days ago, Rezen killed four members of the Metal Sword Tribe to obtain their Resonance Gem in order to impersonate them

The tribes here are small and they only have a single Resonance Gem. People like Jenna that got lucky and stumbled upon a Resonance Gem that formed randomly are rare

Junior Mages could sense the residual mana signatures on corpses as long as it hasn't been that long since the magic was used

If the Junior Mages of the various small tribes were to check the corpses of their dead clansmen, they would sense that metal-type magic was used and who would they suspect first? Naturally, it would be the Metal Sword Tribe!

After all, Rezen made sure to kill at least one person from every tribe using a sword. The wound trace is different than the traces that magic beasts left. Not to mention, magic beasts also often attack humans to turn them into their food. Why would they leave their food without eating it?

Even if the tribes didn't inspect or found the corpses of their people or they don't suspect the Metal Sword Tribe it doesn't matter since the Waterside Tribe already informed them of what happened to their own tribesman

They tried to ask for the help of other tribes but everyone was busy preparing for the winter and no one was willing to lend a hand to the Waterside Tribe

They might even be wishing for the two tribes to kill each other so that there would be lesser tribes that could threaten them

With Rezen's little plan, it's only a matter of time before these tribes change their minds and join hands with each other

While waiting for that time, Rezen collected the Resonance Gems of the people he killed and gave them to the people he liked while teaching them the corresponding knowledge and spell

Of course, Rezen also told them to only use these spells when necessary since they can't risk being found out by the other tribes and raising their suspicions

One of the people that Rezen gave a Resonance Gem was Borsus along with Umper. One of the people that found him unconscious in the forest

Jenna already has two Resonance Gems and she rejected receiving another one as for Yvter... why would Rezen give it to him?

"I'll teach you again later tonight. For now, I'll take care of these potatoes" Rezen replied. He was already here, might as well grow as many potatoes that he could

"Hehehe, I know that you will say that but if you teach me now, I will give these to you!"

When Rezen turned to look at what Borsus planned on giving him, his eyes brightened in delight

"Funny-face Ginger!" Rezen muttered

This ginger looks like it has a goofy face. It was as if it was a comedic thing but it was actually a useful Spirit Plant that even the tribesmen put into good use!

Absorption Talent does not only exist in the earth realm, the rest of the universe also has it

The difference was that while the earth realm has limited means to increase one's absorption talent, the rest of the universe has many ways

One of the ways is to consume the funny-face ginger

If Rezen wants to reach the Junior Mage rank, he has to upgrade his absorption talent to at least 90%

The reason why a person can't absorb all the essence of Spirit Plants was that the human body itself possessed impurities and while Spirit Plants are the treasures of heaven and earth, they also possessed impurities

In other words, absorption talent is the body's way of protecting itself when a Spirit Plant or magic pills were consumed

It was not only the beneficial essence that was absorbed but also the impurities!

This was also the reason why Rezen spat out impurities when he consumed the fruit of the Blue Jade Tree

The fruit has removed some of the impurities that he has

The funny-face ginger is definitely a great way to help Rezen reach the Junior Rank since he cannot reach that rank without at least having a 90% absorption talent

After all, a clean body is required to reach the Junior Rank!
