Chapter 471: Chapter 471: Ji Baixing, what’s the difference between you and Li Wenjun? (First update)
The room was filled with Ji Baijian’s scoldings aimed at Ji Baixing.
Tears welled up in Ji Baixing’s eyes.
She had never been scolded like this by her elder brother.
Throughout her childhood, she had fought with her family because of her unorthodox lifestyle, but she had never been berated by her elder brother like this.
She admitted to being stubborn, incapable of changing her mind on what she wanted. Like how she was insistent on living independently, or how determinedly she loved Li Wenjun, or even now, how she was so hopelessly in love with Yin Qin, she felt determined to be with Yin Qin despite societal judgment. She knew she acted out-of-order at times, but she never thought she was wrong, not until her elder brother accused her of being selfish!
An emotional Ji Baixing asked, “Why does my love for Yin Qin need to be proved through my suffering? Why is it that to clear Yin Qin’s image, I need to publicly admit that I have been violated? Yin Qin is not the one who started the slanders against him. Why don’t you tackle it from the root cause? There must be a better way to tackle this, why does it have to break me? Does this prove my love to be magnanimous? Or that I am not selfish?”
“What better way?” Ji Baijian asked coldly.
Ji Baijian seemed unmoved by Ji Baixing’s tears and emotional collapse.
“Don’t you know? Don’t you know how Yin Chin ended up with Luo Xiaolang’s child? Yin Qin never loved Luo Xiaolang. The child was a result of Luo Xiaolang’s plotting. Why not have her tell the truth? Why not let her tell the world that Yin Qin refused to marry her because they lacked emotional attachment, and that it was Luo Xiaolang, who was in the wrong in the beginning? Why make Yin Qin bear the blame? Why have him be the scapegoat for her mistakes?” Ji Baixing shouted, her agitation apparent.
Ji Baijian watched Ji Baixing emotionlessly.
Ji Baixing felt a chill seeing her elder brother’s cold gaze.
In their family, her father appeared the cruelest, but it was her brother who elicited the most fear.
Defiant, Ji Baixing said to Ji Baijian, “What I’ve spoken is the truth! I’m not twisting facts!”
“Now I finally understand why you liked Li Wenjun.” Ji Baijian said with a pause between his words.
Ji Baixing bit her lips.
“Because you two only think about yourselves. Li Wenjun was willing to abandon you for his own future, use you for his gain, and exploit you to achieve his own success. You are no different from him. You think what you’re doing is right, without any intent of harming others. But the fact remains the same; you expect to gain something out of others without never considering making any sacrifices yourself.”
Ji Baixing felt upset being compared to Li Wenjun.
She refused to believe she was anything like that vile man!
“Who is the one with Yin Qin now? Is it Luo Xiaolang? Why should Luo Xiaolang help you fix your problems? Why should Luo Xiaolang meddle in your affairs? Because you think you’re speaking the truth, and Luo Xiaolang is the root cause, so she should harm herself to fix this? Ji Baixing, tell me, why should Luo Xiaolang get hurt over and over again in this relationship? Would you bear this if you were in her position?” Ji Baijian asked icily. “In other words, would you help Li Wenjun after he had hurt you? Then why did you ask Yin Qin to take revenge on him for you?”
“When I was with Li Wenjun, it was not my fault! He had been deceiving me all along!” Ji Baixing defended.
“Yes, Yin Qin voluntarily took responsibility for Luo Xiaolang. He proposed to her. Does this then make everything Luo Xiaolang’s fault? When Yin Qin publicly cancelled his wedding with Luo Xiaolang, and broke up with her for you, do you become the victim? Ji Baixing, where were you when Luo Xiaolang and Yin Qin were together? You were busy soaking in the emotional extravagance of Li Wenjun while hurting Yin Qin! What right do you have to condemn Luo Xiaolang?” Ji Baijian questioned.
Ji Baixing was deeply embarrassed by Ji Baijian’s words.
Infuriated, she bit back, “Why do you all always take Luo Xiaolang’s side? Did she not bring all this upon herself when she climbed onto Yin Qin’s bed? Why are you always considering her perspective? Would any of this have happened if not for Luo Xiaolang?”
Ji Baixin watched her brother’s infuriated retreating figure.
She couldn’t hold back anymore and burst into tears.
She couldn’t understand, why she had become the most disgraced person, why everything she had done, which was in her view correct, was denied by everyone. Why was Luo Xiaolang’s mistake, considered by everyone as innocence?
If Luo Xiaolang is so good, why didn’t she agree to clarify the facts to the reporters? If she is so good, why didn’t she help Yin Qin! If Luo Xiaolang doesn’t help Yin Qin, that’s excusable, but if she doesn’t help Yin Qin, she’s guilty of a terrible sin! Why?!
She didn’t understand, she picked up her phone, and dialed Yin Qin.
By this time, Yin Qin had already returned to his office.
He was holding the ring that Luo Xiaolang had returned to him, just staring at it.
He realized that arranging a marriage meeting between his parents and Ji Baixin’s parents now seemed like an impossible dream.
He didn’t know how he was supposed to feel at this moment.
It seemed like he had returned to those aimless days, with no ambitions, and merely drifting through life.
He glanced at his phone and saw the caller ID “Baixin”.
He put the ring into the inner pocket of his suit and answered the call, “Baixin.”
“Yin Qin, did you get my brother to scold me like this? Did you?!” Ji Baixin broke down.
Yin Qin pursed his lips.
He knew nothing about it, but he didn’t instigate it.
But at the moment, he wasn’t sure how he should explain things, feeling that it probably wouldn’t make any difference even if he did.
“Is Luo Xiaolang really that good? So good that you and my brother treat me like this! What’s so good about her?” Ji Baixin shouted at Yin Qin, “If she’s so good, why don’t you like her? If she’s that good, why did you call off the engagement?!”
Yin Qin looked upset.
The words “Isn’t it all for you” that were on the tip of his tongue, he ultimately swallowed back down.
He could imagine that, given Ji Baijian’s sharp tongue, when he actually wanted to reprimand someone, he could do so to the point where the person is left utterly defeated.
He understood all the emotions Ji Baixin was feeling at the moment.
“My brother said he would expose the matter of my violation, did you both decide this together?” Ji Baixin questioned him, “Were all the promises you made to protect me just lies?!”
Yin Qin suppressed his emotions.
He said, “Baixin, this is currently the best method, for both you and me!”
