Chapter 59 - "Don't Say That!"

Yu Huiyin was unaware that everyone was discussing her in private as she was putting her full focus onto the papers in her hands.

Although she did not know Xie Jingyu's intentions, she knew that this was a brilliant chance for her to understand how to run a business.

She was wholeheartedly reading the doc.u.ments and sorting them one after the other.

She remembered how to do accounting, and sorted them into income and expenses, after which she began double-checking that the numbers were correct.

She did not have to do any of the actual accounting; the professionals had already done this. All she needed to do was sort the papers in the right order, and learn how accounting worked.

Even so, she continued to double-check everything.

It was not that she doubted the job that the accountant had done; it was just that, this was the task she had been given, so she needed to do it well.

Yu Huiyin was entirely focused on the doc.u.ments, and did not notice that Xie Jingyu would often look at her with a tender gaze as he observed her working in earnest.

After two hours, Assistant Song entered the office, feeling sorry for himself. He knew that entering now would ensure that his boss would be mad at him, but he also understood that he had no choice.

And as he had expected, he looked at Xie Jingyu, who had a black face, clearly unhappy with being interrupted.

"Sir, you have a meeting in five minutes with the committee for the newest project we are going to bid on."

Xie Jingyu seemed to remember faintly that there was indeed such a thing, and he nodded his head. He was no longer as angry as before.

Instead, he went to Yu Huiyin, who was busy scribbling down notes while sorting the papers at an efficient and swift pace.

He reached out his hand and gently caressed her face, causing Yu Huiyin to jump in shock and pull back. Her eyes widened as she looked at Xie Jingyu, only to see the affectionate gaze he used to look at her, once again draining all the energy from her, and making her feel as if she was floating on cloud nine.

When she heard Xie Jingyu's low and husky chuckle, she finally realized that she had lost herself in his eyes, and she lowered her head, feeling it flushing red in embarrassment.

Seeing her embarrassed look, Xie Jingyu shook his head in amus.e.m.e.nt. She was so bold before, why was she suddenly meek like a kitten now?

Even so, he had to hurry and go to the meeting, so he cleared his throat and said gently, "I have to go to a meeting now. Be good and stay here. I will get the secretaries to send in some refreshments."

Yu Huiyin had once again placed her focus on the doc.u.ments and absentmindedly nodded her head.

Xie Jingyu saw her being entirely focused on her work and smiled before he left the office. Before entering the meeting room, he ordered the Head Secretary to get someone to prepare refreshments for Yu Huiyin.

The Head Secretary was amazed that even when hurrying to a meeting, he still considered the woman's wellbeing, and she dared not let any of the other secretaries attend to her.

Although she had a good relationship with the other secretaries, she knew that they could be quite arrogant, since they were able to work at the CEO's office.

They also looked down on anyone who had walked through the back door, as they had gotten their positions due to their skill and performance throughout the years. Although she had not participated in the gossip, she had already seen the negative opinion they all had about Yu Huiyin.

She dared not let them do anything that might cause Yu Huiyin to complain to Xie Jingyu, as the Head Secretary did not doubt that Xie Jingyu would side with this beautiful woman.

At that point in time, it was likely that the one who would end up punished would be her, as she was the head secretary.

Walking to the small kitchenette, the Head Secretary brewed some tea and found a plate that she filled with different fruits.

As she walked back to the CEO's office, she could feel all the others looking at her with pity. After handing the snacks and the drink to Yu Huiyin, who gratefully thanked her, she exited the office again, closing the door behind her.

When she straightened her back, she found that there were a few of her colleagues standing outside waiting for her.

"Miss Sui, this is too much!" one of them said in a hushed voice. "You are the Head Secretary of Xie Jingyu! Why do you have to personally bring snacks and drinks to a little girl? Who does she think she is to be treated this way by Miss Sui!"

Hearing the woman's words, the Head Secretary, Miss Sui, was so scared that she looked around, with vigilance evident all over her face.

"Don't say that," she warned sternly. "Our job, as secretaries, is to help our CEO. He asked us to treat the Miss with care and consideration. Since CEO Xie thinks that she is important, then naturally, she is also important to us."

"You are too good-tempered," another coworker mumbled unhappily. "She clearly relied on her looks to seduce our CEO, and now he can not think clearly any longer. I have a friend in the HR department, and she said that CEO Xie personally brought her to settle her procedures.

"He even lets her stay with him in his office; it is clear that they are doing something unspeakable!"
