After closing his status screen, Milo proceeded to open up the shop screen and unlike before where it locked Milo out. A new screen popped up:
[Shop]
Welcome to the shop feature
A tutorial will be generated to teach the user about the shop function
[clear]
When opening the shop tutorial, Navi's voice rang out, "Welcome to the system shop, the shop offers different wares that the user can purchase. They range from enchanted armor and accessories such as rings and necklaces, to weapons and even different elixirs that have various uses. Each item has its own price and will appear in the inventory when purchased. In order to purchase these items, the user must first earn gold. Gold can be earned by completing missions and selling loot that the user picks up on their adventures."
Hearing the explanation Milo was excited, it was exactly as he expected and he would possibly be able to purchase weapons and armor not found anywhere else. His only worry was getting enough gold to purchase the items as he had no way of getting loot from gates or parts from monster corpses at the moment, and he hadn't received any missions since his daily missions that he no longer received.
When opening up the shop screen, categories appeared along the left side that showed the different categories of items he could buy. When clicking on the different categories they would expand and show even more specifics, for example when clicking on weapons, it expanded to either ranged or melee weapons, which then expanded to the many different kinds of each category, such as swords, daggers, and more.
On the right side of the screen were all the listings for the different weapons, his eyes grew wide at the prices as they were much more expensive than he was expecting. The cheapest item was a dagger simply called, "Steel Dagger" and it was priced at 500 gold, which seemed like a tall ask considering his current balance of zero.
After looking through the shop some more, there were many powerful items, and some of them had unique properties that raised his stats, as well as granted bonus skills. He was wondering if any of the items made by the blacksmiths in the city had similar effects. If so he would have to compare prices to see if his system's shop was more powerful.
As he was pondering this question a new screen popped up that he wasn't expecting.
[New Quest]
[Status: Incomplete] Compare the system's prices to the real world prices
Reward: 50 gold, 50 exp, Inspect skill
[clear]
Seeing a new quest pop up made Milo wonder if the system was limited in functionality until he hit level 5. Although it also made sense, considering he now was able to earn gold through the shop function, the system would in turn have to give him opportunities to earn gold to spend. He was also excited to see what the inspect skill did, as it was the first skill he'd earn other than the ones he had to unlock through increasing the level of the system.
Following the new quest pop up, Milo exited the Sim Room and went back to his dorm to find Chris and Mark. On his way he messaged Krista on his holo and asked her if she would like to go into the city to look at the shops. After a stop at her dorm, she and Allana joined Milo as he went to see if Chris and Mark wanted to come as well, adding the last two friends to the group, the 5 students all made their way into the city. After going through a few clothes store, they made their way to an equipment store where Milo thought it would be a good idea to complete the quest. When entering the store, he looked at the different prices of the equipment and was surprised to see that in comparison to the shop most of the items in the equipment store were more expensive and majority of them looked to have less options than the system's shop items.
*ding* when hearing the distinctive noise, Milo knew he had completed the quest, the completion screen then appeared.
