Chapter 118 118 - Abnormality



Ryan's eyes were moving from side to side with surprising speed. Until they began to glow with the same white light that had affected the boss in that region. Falling to his knees on the ground, the light disappeared as he contemplated what had happened.

<Are you okay?> The succubus said, as she held his body so he wouldn't fall in the middle of that broken glass floor. He shook his head, stood up and put both hands behind his head, stretching.

"It all makes sense now" he said, as he turned toward the beach. <Who were those creatures?> the girl questioned, worried. "Servants of a God." Ryan's head was going over all the information that had been thrown in front of him, in those few seconds he had a strange experience.

"They explained to me about the second world, and about the portals being opened. This is all just a fight between creatures who consider themselves gods. It wasn't an accident that brought the two worlds together." When he said this, at the same instant he felt a shiver run down his spine. It was as if he was being watched by hundreds of eyes at the same time. The presence was so intense that Ryan could even tell where it was coming from.

<And what do they want?

"The boss of those two wants to test me. The owner of this here wants to beat their boss" Ryan said, pointing to the window of the demon system.

Nyx turned her head, confused, but only confirmed with her head. The bats and scorpions were getting closer, but with a quick movement of his hands, he shot slashes of fire at each of those creatures. 

The bats came out from inside the castle, where on the top was a gigantic nest. Those creatures were arriving at high speed on the beach, trying to swallow Ryan. But he easily cut the necks of those that got too close. When the scorpions came too close, he stomped with all his might on the ground, creating a wave of flames that annihilated those unfortunate creatures. 

Amidst the waves of the sea, corrupted fish jumped out of the water, but the flames easily reached the water and heated the temperature of the sea to a point that those monsters were unable to withstand.

"I just need to wait" he said, as he looked at his status window. The kill streak was increasing, and with it, so was his demonic energy. When he eliminated opponent number seven hundred, a beam of light appeared from the direction of the door.

<They returned safely.

The guild group was approaching the portal with ease, passing through a deserted region, they finally arrived in the forest of coal trees. The number of monsters had increased, but they were not a problem as the group had many S+ Rank travelers. 

"We have arrived at the portal" Kyra said as her body stopped glowing with that aura of light. 

"We don't have much time, let's send out the wounded and return to deployment. We need to be careful about the possibility of another mass teleportation" he said as he turned to the group.

Using his gravitational magic, Aether was sending the wounded out in groups of ten. And in less than ten minutes, everyone had returned. Kodiak said goodbye to Ruri with a smile, as he stepped through that gigantic red portal.

Returning to channeling her energy, Kyra began to glow. "I'll signal the rookie" she said. The blonde agreed, and then she launched a bolt of lightning towards the sky, tearing through the few clouds amidst that dark atmosphere. When she finished, there was silence among the remaining members.

No creatures were approaching, the wounded were no longer calling for help. The only thing that remained was the gasping breath of those who didn't have a high rank. But in the midst of all this silence, a vibration arose. The ground was shaking, as if footsteps were approaching.

Even with the sound of swords being drawn, or magic books being opened, or shields removed from the back and placed on the ground, the sound of those footsteps kept getting closer. The vibrations increased, until the giant red portal gave one last warning.

The portal expanded, consuming all the remaining members of the raid. No travelers were left, all were sent back to the first world. 

"What happened?" A rogue said, confused

"They returned?" Kodiak spoke, while being treated by a healer.

One after another, those travelers emerged near the portal. Amidst the grass of that forest, they appeared confused, falling to the ground or frightened. Some were motionless in defensive positions.

"Shit" Kyra said, seconds later, Aether appeared beside her, "We've returned... I never heard about this" he said, placing a hand on his chin. The blond man then turned around, looked at the portal, and with a flick of his staff, levitated himself toward the portal, but he couldn't get in.

Even using all his strength, his arms could not get through the first layer of the portal. The shiny, almost gelatinous surface of that dimensional rift was now as solid as crystal. 

Everyone was looking in the same direction, confused about what this meant, and few realized how serious the situation was. Kyra approached Aether, the two exchanged glances as if they were having the same doubt, "Ryan is still inside the portal" she said. 

"A portal is not automatically sealed while they still have travelers inside it, that was as clear as day" he replied, confused. When Aether removed his hand from the portal, that gigantic sphere began to shrink. In a few minutes, that sphere that was big enough to reach the clouds reached the size of a simple car.

"The portal's magic signature is increasing Mr.Lightstone" one of the guild agents said, while looking at a laptop screen. The graphical representation of the portal's energy was floating, rising and falling as it increased in size.

Aether was uneasy about it "The portal would still be open if Ryan was dead. And we haven't defeated any Bosses, do you know what that means?" he said.

Behind him was John Wrynn, the regional guild officer. "Did you notice my presence so easily? The cigarette smell must be heavy" he said with a smile.

"I'm not kidding" Aether replied, turning around.
