Chapter 119 119 - Irregularity



When all the travelers were taken back to the other world, four of those winged soldiers appeared around the portal. The creatures exchanged glances, and then held out their arms. A beam of light came out of the gauntlets of the creatures' armor, as the light hit the portal, that red sphere began to dim. Those soldiers exchanged glances again, and then vanished like dust. 

Flying through the skies of that destroyed region, Ryan quickly made his way home. But instead of finding his allies, there was nothing there, only a red sphere the size of an apple. 

Inside his head, two voices emerged. 

"Let's start a test"

"Fight these insignificant beings"

One echoed like an angelic being, with a sweet and gentle voice. While the other was intense and aggressive. 

In front of Ryan's eyes, two windows appeared. One was blue and white, looking like the common human status window, the other was black and red, like the system window he was used to.

"Huh... Too many options I guess" he said, clicking on both buttons at the same time.

These notifications went up quickly, one after the other, while at the top of Ryan's vision a timer started up.

The entire region of the abyss was filled with monsters much larger than anything he had ever seen. There were five dragons that easily exceeded more than five hundred meters. All those dragons were white, with golden details on their bodies, behind those creatures were two gigantic crystal eyes that floated amidst a sea of clouds. 

The sky in that region was transformed in seconds, as a giant bright moon rose above Ryan Whitemane's head. The entire area that had been dark before now shone with the weak light of the moon, which illuminated that area as if it were the morning of any day.

His eyes began to glow, and within seconds they shot a bolt of lightning towards the human. The light threw him backwards, who was unable to defend himself from the attack. 'Nyx, can you look at my back?' he thought, but soon realized what a strange feeling he was having.

'Nyx?'

Again, the bond between the two had been severed. "So I'm alone here..." he said, sighing. 'That way I have no other option' he concluded.

'My spells are useless if I have no mana, so I'll make the most of what I still have and then just use my demon energy'

Ryan's body began to glow as he used his unique legendary ability. Activating 'The Flaming Hero', his body began to glow with an intense white and gold light, while red flames surged around his arms, down to his hands. With a snap of his fingers, he created five spheres of light. 

Joining his fire aura with the Judgement of the sun, those spheres of light transformed into true suns. The size of the four spheres increased until, with a single movement of his hands, he launched those attacks against the heads of the dragons that were flying in the sky.

The fire was so intense that it lacerated part of the armor of those creatures, causing three of those monsters to fall to the ground. Even wounded, those gigantic lizards stood up and launched fire attacks towards Ryan.

"It's good to save it" he said, as he watched the jets of flames being launched in his direction. With a spinning kick, he controlled the fire that was being thrown at him, launching it all towards one of the eyes that were flying in the sky. The crystals were tough, but the intense heat caused them to become brittle. 

Using 'Flaming Dash', he launched himself towards one of the eyes. Channeling one of those spheres of light at the tip of his hand, he launched that sphere into the eye with a punch. It went through and tore from side to side through his opponent, who fell to the ground destroying the entire region with the force of the vibration of the impact.

Ryan spun in the air and launched himself towards the other eye. With a punch charged with Flaming Hero's aura, he pushed the creature back, lifting that eye into the sky. The monster withstood several attacks, as its crystal armor was still strengthened. 

The dragons were waiting to attack, as if they knew they could not weaken their ally. So Ryan used his Flaming Dash with all the rest of his mana, pushing the eye into the ground. Using every remaining drop of his mana, he caused that eye to crush the three dragons that were on the ground. 

One of the voices came up in his head.

"You are strong, the light is interested in you"

But the other voice arose in opposition.

"He has already been recruited. Use our power" 

All the defeated monsters disappeared, leaving only two dragons that were flying over the area. Behind those two dragons, hundreds of identical copies appeared, increasing by an astonishing amount. Within seconds, there were at least fifty of those creatures.

The monsters lined up in a row in the sky. As those creatures positioned themselves, Ryan's mana had reached zero, it was time to use his demonic energy. The dragons studied his chests and launched an attack together. The intensity was so great that Ryan was defeated.

[The Soul]

When defeated by a superior attack, your soul is preserved and your body is restored. This ability uses your stock of demonic energy and the souls of defeated opponents.

His life passed like a movie through his eyes as his body was called to cross the bridge leading to the world of the dead. But several chains were keeping him trapped inside his shell of flesh. Opening his eyes and spitting out blood, he came back to life, his body having completely regenerated from the burns of those dragon attacks.

When the gift of hate arises in the user's heart, any opponent who attempts to cast his soul back into the eternal stream is pulled by the energy of the cliff of fate.

The row of dragons had their souls sucked into the stream of death, falling to the ground lifeless.
