Chapter 210: Extreme Heat (1)
Huang Zhihui nodded and asked, "Elder Sister Yao Ran, what's wrong with me and Qiqi?"
Yao Ran replied, "Hypoxia. I just experienced the symptoms myself, so I came to check on you."
When Long Yu heard this, he frowned and sat beside Yao Ran. Just as he was about to ask her what was happening, they heard urgent knocking at the door outside.
"Miss Yao, are you there?"
Yao Ran recognized Quan Yuanwei's voice and suspected that something might have happened to his grandparents. Without wasting any more time, she quickly went outside to see him.
When she saw Quan Yuanwei still dressed in winter clothes and sweating profusely, Yao Ran guessed that the elderly on the 19th floor might also have hypoxia.
She walked up to him and said, "Brother Quan, go change into lighter clothes to avoid heat stroke. I will get my medicine box first."
Hearing her words, Quan Yuanwei nodded and left quickly.
After he left, Yao Ran went back into her apartment, took out her medicine box, packed four small diving oxygen tubes into her backpack, and headed for the 19th floor.
When she stepped out, Long Yu was already waiting for her outside. He took her backpack and medicine box and said, "Let's go."
Once they arrived on the 19th floor, Yao Ran handed Long Yu two oxygen tubes and said, "I will go check on Grandpa and Grandma Quan first. Take these oxygen tubes to find Sima Yun. If anyone has trouble breathing, have them breathe from the oxygen tube for at least two minutes."
Long Yu nodded, took the oxygen tubes, and knocked on the door of unit 1901. Hearing the knocking sound from the outside, Quan Yuanwei quickly opened the door.
Seeing that Sima Hao had opened the door to let Long Yu in, Quan Yuanwei turned to Yao Ran and said, "Miss Yao, please take a look at my grandparents."
After saying that, he led her to the master bedroom. Yao Ran stepped into the room, sensing the stuffy air.
"Please open the door wide." She instructed.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Sima Yun breathed a sigh of relief and replied, "Alright."
After confirming that everyone was alright, Yao Ran and Long Yu returned to the 20th floor.
By the time they gathered in unit 2001's living room, the temperature had risen to 35 degrees Celsius, and everyone had changed into light summer clothes. Seven people sat around the low table in silence.
After a long silence, Jia Xiang finally spoke, "Yao Ran, what just happened?"
Yao Ran understood she was referring to the symptoms Huang Zhihui, Deng Qiqi, and the elderly on the 19th floor had experienced.
"They were experiencing hypoxia." She explained.
The others looked confused, and Huang Qian asked, "Juncheng City isn't located at a high altitude. How could they experience hypoxia?"
Yao Ran's expression turned serious as she explained, "I think the tectonic plates shifted, which may have changed Juncheng City's altitude. This shift can affect atmospheric pressure and oxygen levels. For people accustomed to lower altitudes, a sudden change can impact their bodies significantly."
Except for Long Yu, who already knew about the future, the others were shocked.
Shi Xuan thought for a moment and said, "If the tectonic plates are shifting, we might need to prepare for earthquakes or even tsunamis."
Yao Ran nodded, "Not only that. If the tectonic plates shift drastically, it could impact sea
levels."
Shi Xuan's expression sank as he asked, "Do you mean... the land might become sea?"
"There is a possibility," Yao Ran replied.
Though she hadn't lived to see it happening in her previous life, Yao Ran felt that natural disasters in this life were occurring faster and with greater intensity.
Lowering her gaze, she thought, 'The small changes I have made have already had such a
significant impact on the world. I wonder what else the future holds. Will things continue along a similar path, or will there be more significant changes ahead?
