Chapter 257: Han Yixue’s Plan (1)

Long Yu's eyes flickered for a second as he said, "Staying there for now is better than settling somewhere unknown. When we decide to join the base later, we won't have to travel far, and it will be safer living near the base."

Hearing this, Yao Ran nodded and looked at the map, looking for the resort area. After a

moment's silence, she said, "If everything goes smoothly, we should reach the resort in two days."

After talking about the destination for a while, Yao Ran concentrated on helping Long Yu navigate. They drove for two hours before they saw an abandoned rest area not far ahead.

Long Yu picked up the walkie-talkie on the dashboard and said, "We will rest in the rest area." The others replied, "Roger that."

Putting the walkie-talkie down, Long Yu drove into the rest area, heading to the gas station first and parking in front of the pump. Yao Ran then got out to check the pump, but seeing it was empty, she shook her head at Long Yu.

Long Yu wasn't disappointed. They knew the military had already collected most of the gas from these gas stations and even more from survivors. They'd be very lucky if they could find gas here.

After confirming there was no fuel left, Yao Ran returned to the SUV, and Long Yu drove to the central area where the restaurant and resting spots were located. When they finally found a shaded parking lot, it was already ten o'clock in the morning.

Everyone was exhausted after working all night and driving all morning. To save fuel, nobody dared turn on the air conditioning. Instead, they only lowered the windows slightly for ventilation.

Although the temperature was dropping daily, it was still 60 degrees Celsius outside. When traveling during the day, the intense sunlight makes the car interiors even hotter than the temperature outside.

Seeing their red faces covered with sweat, Yao Ran decided to give everyone some dilute lake water to avoid heatstroke.

They looked at him, and the second son said, "Brother, we will go with you."

Han Renqi thought for a moment before saying to his second brother, "Yixue, you stay here and protect our parents and grandparents. I will go with Fengwen."

Hearing this, Han Yixue nodded and sat back down. Han Renqi then looked at his third brother and said, "Fengwen, let's go."

After his elder brother and third brother left, Han Yixue looked at Old Han and asked, "Father, do you know where Miss Yao and her friends are heading?"

Old Han shook his head and replied, "I didn't ask. It's already a rare opportunity for Miss Yao to agree to let us follow them, so I didn't dare to press for details. We will just follow them until we reach the Juncheng Military Base."

Han Yixue listened to his father's response and fell into deep thought.

After a moment of silence, he said, "Father, Miss Yao and her friends are able to find so many supplies in such a short time. I think we should stay with them until the end."

Old Han was surprised when he heard Han Yixue's words. Out of his three sons, Han Yixue was the smartest, and he never said anything without careful thought. Since he'd said this, he must have considered everything.

After thinking about this, Old Han asked, "Yixue, do you have a plan?"

Han Yixue lowered his voice and said, "Father, I don't think the Juncheng Military Base is as good as you thought."

Old Han frowned slightly and asked again, "What do you mean?"

Han Yixue replied, "The Juncheng Military Base is designed to accommodate two million people in its first phase of construction. Since there is a first phase, there will likely be second, third, and even fourth phases of construction."
