938 Chapter 938

"Sir?" Mae asked over the phone as the line went silent. She knew Cedric was still on the other end of the line since she could still hear the background noises.

Cedric blinked and shook his head as he recovered from the initial shock.

He knew that he needed to give instructions and that they needed to find out more.

"Have our people track his calls, check the cameras around his residence and trace back his steps." Cedric told Mae. "If he was kidnapped, we should find something. If he met with someone to betray us, we should uncover who it was."

"Yes, sir." Mae said. "I'll report back once we know more."

"Good, no need to inform Katerina, I'll do it myself." Cedric told his assistant before dropping the call.

Before returning to the doctor's office, Cedric took a deep breath and considered when he should tell Katerina about their newest discovery.

He knew that if he delayed telling her the news she would be pissed, but at the same time he wanted her to prioritize the good news he was sure he was about to hear.

Knowing Katerina, she would put aside everything personal just for work and that was something that Cedric did not want happening this time.

"Ah, Mr. Reyes, we're done taking the blood samples and Miss Sebastian will know the results in a few days. Although, I doubt it will be any different from the tests she has taken." Dr. Santos informed Cedric as soon as he rejoined them in the room.

"Thank you for your help, Dr. Santos." Cedric said with a smile as he shook the doctor's hand.

He then led the two women out of the office and towards the hospital entrance.

"Katerina, how did you come here?" Cedric asked as they walked through the throngs of people that wanted to catch a glimpse of their group or just snap a photo of them.

"I drove here, how else do you think I would have gotten to the hospital?" Katerina asked with a hint of annoyance in her tone.

"Keys." Cedric said as he stretched his hand out for her.

Katerina sighed but said nothing as she passed her keys to Cedric. She already knew that he was getting on overprotective brother mode and chose not to argue.

When they reached the driveways Cedric gestured for Katerina and Adrianna to get in the backseat while he made his way to the driver's side.

He tapped on the window, making his driver step out.

"Take Katerina's car to Mountain View." Cedric instructed the man as he handed the keys. "I'll drive us home. It's been a while." He said with a smile as he slid into the driver's seat.

"What are you doing?" Adrianna asked when she noticed that her husband had taken the steering wheel.

"She can't drive that death trap of hers. She's most likely pregnant, both her brother and her fiance will never let me hear the end of it if I let her." Cedric pointed out as he gently stepped on the accelerator.

Through the rear view mirror, he noticed Katerina roll her eyes at him. He knew she wouldn't be happy with his decision, but she wasn't just caring for herself now. There was a life growing inside of her and that needed to be protected.

"Kat, when will you tell Eric?" Adrianna asked in an excited tone as she shifted the topic.

Cedric was glad that his wife was on his side in this matter. He knew she would see that he was making sense, even if it was a little bit overboard.

"I don't know." Katerina said with a frown as she looked down at her hands. "I wanted to be sure, but the doctor said it may take a few days."

"Kat, we'll be there for you when you tell him." Adrianna said with a smile as she reached out and held the other woman's hand.

"For now, you shouldn't overwork yourself." Cedric warned Katerina ruining the nice moment between the two women. "You have another life to consider now."

"I'll be careful." Katerina said in a solemn tone as she placed her hand on her flat stomach. It would be a while before she would show signs of being pregnant, for now the moment was just for her and her little one.

"Good, did you get enough sleep last night?"  Cedric asked as he continued to keep his eyes on the road as he drove them back to his home.

"I did, a little." Katerina nodded.

"Get some rest when we arrive at Mountain View, as much as I don't want to tell you, I need your help with something." Cedric informed Katerina.

"Why not just tell me now?" She asked.

Cedric sighed and shook his head, regretting that he even mentioned work to her.

"Because this is exactly what I feared would happen." Cedric grumbled. "You need to rest first Katerina."

"But there is work we need to do." She argued back.

"Kat, don't be stubborn about this." Adrianna said as she tried to intervene. "This time, Cedric is right, you need to rest. You can work after."

Katerina remained silent for a few moments as she took Adrianna's words into consideration. Had it just been Cedric that insisted she rest, she would have ignored him since her brother and his friends had over protective tendencies.

With Adrianna chirping in her concern Katerina was forced to listen. She knew that Adrianna was also annoyed at how overprotective Cedric could get, so she wouldn't insist on Katerina resting so lightly.

She sighed and shook her head in defeat, there was no winning this discussion.

"Fine." Katerina said as she gave in to the couple's request. "But after you better not hide anything from me." She said as she crossed her arms and leaned back on the seat.

Cedric couldn't help but smile, happy that he had won this argument against Katerina. It was, after all, for her own safety.
