Chapter 45 - I'll protect you from now on

Not far from Guang Town, Yu Zhefan was taking a rest. Since he was by himself, he had pushed his horse faster to its limits. He had hardly rested and constantly changing horses as he passes any towns or city. At most, he would arrive in Guang Town within a day and a half.

He would've been on the road already, unfortunately, his body couldn't take it anymore. He had been awake for almost 3 to 4 days.

As he took a rest, not far from him is another group that was resting. Xu Fengxin had followed Yu Zhefan closely on his journey. Aside from him, he had brought along his most trusted subordinates. Zu Bai as his attendant and Zu Ren, his hidden guard.

"Master, do you think he knows where the Eldest Miss Yu is?" Zu Bai casually asked. They had been tailing Yu Zhefan for almost a week now, not daring to stop when Yu Zhefan wouldn't.

Xu Fengxin pondered this question as well. Of all directions, Yu Zhefan had went east. The last trail of Yu Ronglou had been going south of the Kingdom. If Yu Zhefan is heading east, the trail heading south would look like a decoy. A scam for those who were looking for her.

Interesting, he thought. Something this smart and tricky idea, did his future Crown Princess thought of it? If she did, he would love to applaud her wits. He had never thought that she had this side of her. For what purpose is she heading east? The borders on the east were peaceful at the moment. The north and west borders of the Kingdom had been on the verge of being at war. Luckily, the ones on the east had been at peace, due to previous good relations.

"I think he does, at least where she was heading to and not her specific current location." Xu Fengxin answered Zu Bai's inquiry.

Zu Bai nodded in agreement. He could see how fast and determined Yu Zhefan was on his journey. It didn't look like he was luring them in this direction.

"It's estimated that we are not that far from Guang Town. With my brother-in-law's pace, we should be able to arrive within a day's time, if he pushed his limits. Zu Ren, go ahead to Guang Town. Inquire everything there is to know. See if we can get a heads up than my brother-in-law." Xu Fengxin smiled.

Out in the shadows, a voice spoke. "Yes, Master." Silence followed. In terms of speed, Zu Ren was a top-notch expert. Right now, it just turned dark. With Zu Ren's speed, he should be able to arrive in Guang Town before noon the next day.

Yu Ronglou left with Gu Hongfe. Before she left, she had advised Bai Fangzu that his life was in danger this year. Since he had saved her, she gave him an important piece of information.

"Since you didn't say what you wanted as compensation for saving my life, then I will give you a piece of advice. A life for a life. Your life is in danger. Never trust your family in this lifetime. If you believe in me and you cherish your life, make ample preparations. Since you knew of my identity, You should be aware that I wouldn't make claims on baseless things. With these ill foreboding words, Bai Fangzu was left frozen. Gu Hongfe carried Yu Ronglou out from the room. When he heard her words, he couldn't help but ask her. "Is those words true?" Although he wasn't familiar with that man, Gu Hongfe knew that man's identity.

It tugged his heart, making a silent vow to keep her safe from harm.

It wasn't long until they arrived at the inn, where they were staying. Seeing her Mistress got back safe and sleeping soundly, she didn't woke her up and help Gu Hongfe to bring her to her bed.

As Gu Hongfe laid her to bed, he finally felt relaxed. Like some thorn was being removed from his heart. Recalling the time, he had to leave. He still has to get his siblings out of their misery. He promised to protect not only his siblings from now on but also Yu Ronglou. If she was determined not to marry the Crown Prince, then he will do his best to help her escape from his grasp!

He left the room with a determined heart.
